The Linc - Giants Fans Resorting To Conspiracy Theories To Explain Eagles Free Agency

DeSean: Smith is Maclin insurance | Eagletarian | 08/13/2011
DeSean Jackson apparently didn't get the memo about how the Eagles' signing of wideout Steve Smith was unrelated to Jeremy Maclin's illness. "The reason why they picked him up is they're unsure of Maclin's health," Jackson said today following his first practice since ending his 11-day training camp holdout.

Big Blue Interactive | Dogra "unsung hero?"
I just had to bring this to your attention. This was a thread on a popular Giants message board where these Giants fans have developed a conspiracy theory in which they're convinced that the Eagles have conspired with player agent Ben Dogra to hoard all of the best players in the NFL on the cheap. And yes, it's as desperate and sad as it sounds.

Star-divide

First Impressions – Eagles @ Ravens | ProFootballFocus.com
The revamped defensive line is already taking shape in Philadelphia. It didn’t take long for newly acquired Eagles DT Cullen Jenkins to make his mark. Despite good initial protection, Jenkins eventually came free to get his first QB hit on the first play from scrimmage. The former Packer wasn’t alone as Trent Cole once again flashed his ability against the run, pushing Michael Oher aside to make a tackle for a loss. Not to be outdone, DE Daryl Tapp, who was rotating for Cole, blew past new FB Vonta Leach bringing Rice down for a 5 yard loss. It wasn’t just an all out attack either as DT Antonio Dixon sniffed out a screen that forced Joe Flacco to throw the ball away. With help from LDE Jason Babin, Cole got a sack on the next drive.

New-look Eagles' defense is progressing nicely
There are a ton a new faces for the Eagles on the defensive side of the ball, but after its first preseason game, all the hard work is paying off. By Matt Haughton

Observation deck: Giants-Panthers - NFC East Blog - ESPN
The New York Giants could have used a feel-good preseason opener Saturday night. No, I don't think you can read much into these preseason games. They didn't get it.

Lol wow. I knew the giants fans were jelous and spiteful but they honestly think Ben Dogra would not tell his clients they were offered more money so they would sign with the Eagles? They’re so stupid.

I don't know if we're ALL stupid

A few of us agree with you…myself included. It’s Dogra’s job to get Smith as much money as he can so it would be ridiculous for him to NOT have asked the Giants to match or beat the Eagles offer.

u should find something else to do! You like the GM,you have your head up your ass!!!!!!!!! we have not singed a linebacker in years think about it, he has on Herry Carson JERSEY, HE is not a pimple on his ass, like I said find something elese to do like go play in the road out side of the stadium, may be u could talk about that. your inputs suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! go back were was the last linebacker we had, get rid of the GM and find someone knows talent.. DON`T KNOW ABOUT ANYONE ELSE IT IS GETTING SICKING..

Good point but...

In the long term, I believe the Eagles won. We have younger guys at the helm while Dawkins is ageing. Even if we had Dawkins, the RCB was still a black hole.

Never call a Phillies, Eagles, Flyers or Sixers fans, a band-wagoner. It is disrespectful. We have suffered agony through the years. Philadelphians should be jovial for their teams' success.

What conspiracy??

The way Dogra resurrected the deal when it seems an agreement wouldn’t be reached surely shows that Nnamdi had stated to his agent that the Eagles were his preference and he was willing to give them somewhat of a discount.

By keeping the lid on it he was acting in line with his clients wishes…

Truly a delusional fan base. They’re obviously more stung by the Smith signing than we knew. Reading that is similar to reading analysis of the Kennedy assasination. Just ridiculous.

by 92-74-99-96 on Aug 14, 2011 8:27 AM EDT via mobile up reply actions

haha

nice analogy with the Kennedy assassination. It really is completely ridiculous. I think the majority of the Giant’s fanbase has gone into panic mode. I didn’t see any conspiracy theories come to light until we signed Steve Smith, and now these guys are stooping to new lows, siding with the Cowpatties saying they were victims of the conspiracy as well. How sad. There isn’t any logic in their arguement. I’m sure an agent who’s responsible for the careers of some of the biggest names in the NFL would risk losing any all credibility he has so that he can get an under the table kick back from a team. Hey, he represents Lee Evans, there must be a conspiracy behind him going to the Ravens the day AFTER the Eagles played them. He didn’t want Evans to go before, because then the Ravens probably would’ve beaten us in a preseason game. But seriously, does anyone not realize that all these guys simply just want to play on this team? Why wouldn’t anyone want to play for this team? I don’t think it really matters what club it is, it just happened that the Eagles were the only ones to try to sign Vick, and drafted guys like DeSean and made an exciting team. If the Titants signed Vick and revived his career, with the likes of Chris Johnson, and had good coaches and a good front office, I’m sure players would be flocking to go play there. Just my 2 cents. The guys replying to that article in agreement are boners.

I also love how on BBV, they made excuses for the first team offense sucking balls against a 2-14 squad

The reason? Offensive line turnover.

Wait, what about all the continuity that was lauded for the past two weeks? I thought the Eagles had a lot of turnover too. In fact, wasn’t that supposed to be the reason our ‘experiment’ wouldn’t work? Why didn’t the Eagles blow donkey nuts against a 2-14 squad?

Of course, the caveat is preseason doesn’t matter. And that’s correct. But the hypocrisy in their beliefs is completely out of control.

haha perhaps thats where the "fanatical" in fan comes from

Objectively, there ain’t anyway to tell who’ll get punished by that turnover and who won’t, so you’re right of course. Hypocritical might be a little too harsh though.

Steve Smith IS insurance for Maclin's health issues

But no, you don’t come out and say that publicly. I’m assuming Maclin’s been tested for all the obvious stuff like auto-immune disorders. If it is a bacterial infection, they need to identify and treat it SOON.

That what sucks about playing hush hush. First, the dream team statement. Then the Miami Heat then and now this. I don’t want this team to become a media whore.

Eh, I don't mind the ragging

What Vick did was stupid. And Vick knows what Vick did was stupid. But if an opposing fan can create humor out of it that I’ll enjoy, more power to him/her.

I don’t think that particular comment was meant to be taken to heart. It was just a way of lightening the dire mood of Giants fans.

Simply my favorite
He’s one player. They have terrible LBs, they have no depth on their D Line and their O line and running game is questionable. This is Jerry Jones and Daniel Snyder style team building. They are also mortagaing their franchise to win NOW. Our blue collar, lunch pail crew will still thump them. Just wait and see.

Yup. The same way we’ve been thumped the last six meetings.

by packimop on Aug 14, 2011 12:08 PM EDT up reply actions

Also, we're 'mortagaging' to win now

These guys really find whatever they can to cling to, don’t they?

During the Awesomewah fallout, it was ’They’re cutting Asante for sure’ (as if we wouldn’t trade him for at worst multiple high-value picks). Then, it was ’They’re Snydering Snyder’. Now, it’s ’I’m not scared of them! We’re a lot better guys!’

I know I’ve harped on it over and over again in this thread, but it really is insane.

Do they really need to grasp at that straw? Does this somehow make them feel better about the sad showing of their first team offense vs the panthers the other night?

I have always hated the cowboys, but I am quickly hating the New York Giants more than any other team in any sport, period.

Oh man, that Giant's blog on SB is too funny

Been a while since I browsed the other blogs on here. Went to BBV today after reading these comments and the first post is this:

John Mara Is No. 1
New York Giants CEO John Mara tops the Star-Ledger’s annual list of the most influential people in New Jersey sports.

If I had an account there I’d reply:
BREAKING NEWS: ELI MANNING IS THE #1 QB… on the Giants roster.

Not only is it only a list of sports CEO’s in NJ, the Giants aren’t even a NJ team… technically. They really must be running out of good news to report up there.

by cin7 on Aug 14, 2011 3:51 PM EDT reply actions

They think the Eagles are pulling a Jones or a Snyder—— We are still under cap and we have more draft picks the next few years than most teams have in 5. This is an allignment of the stars and it was done through good front office work; not just expectations and inuendo.
