Offensive Line
So the Eagles have a few question marks on the line this year after last years collapse, and i'm not convinced Dunlap or Justice are reliable enough to protect Vick's blindside.
I do think the Eagles have a lot of quality linemen, and this is what i think i think the starting 5 should be, and if anyone wants to comment what they think, I'd love some other opinions.
LT: Jason Peters. LG: Evan Mathis C: Jamaal Jackson RG: Danny Watkins RT: Todd Herremans.
I read that Herremans was considered to be the RT, which would be awesome. If he stays put at left guard, i like Watkins there as well, considering he played there in college. And then we have Todd back at guard, and either Mathis or Mike Mcglyyn at RG.
What do you guys think?

Because 7 is a lefty
Jason Peters should be RT.
what a joke
herremans sucks at tackle .. he was so bad we needed to rush peters back off the injury table .. jesus christ leave justice alone .. justice is a solid tackle
The look the Fraud JIBTA's back...
Defensive player of the year for 2011 is...
Wild_Eagle!
Yes, Wild_Eagle's infamous reputation did help him get this award. But he shows that he walks the talk that he serves...with his keyboard. Wild_Eagle protects the motherland (BGN) from the evils of noobs, douche-bags, and other assholes. Although he may be crude and unnecessary, all great defenders draws the yellow flag from time to time.

The best pass rusher still comes from the left side, so this is completely wrong IMO. Too much is being made of the “blind side” factor because of the Michael Lewis book/movie, whereas the real issue is who is lining up on the other side. The defense doesn’t (usually) flip based on which side the QB is throwing from.
Peters or Todd, whoever could best handle the switch to the right side. I know O-line positions are not interchangeable and this is easier said than done, but they should be the tackles because there’s such a huge dropoff between them and the rest of the group. One of them should be protecting the blind side.
Peters started at TE as an UDFA
He played RT in buff, before LT.
I think we will be OK with the current O-line talent…. they key is to just run the ball a little more often, this helps protect the weaknesses of young O-lineman (run blocking is much easier than pass schemes) and keep the opposing defense off balance.
If we come out passing 70% of the time like last year, you can have the best O-line in the league but if the opposing defense doesn’t worry about the running game they will send extra men every snap…. just ask the Patriots re: their playoff loss to the Jets last year.
You know...
I just had a good look at your proposed front line. I don’t know if I agree with you, but I considered the players available now:
Peters, Mathis, Jackson, Watkins, Herremans, McGlynn, Justice and Dunlap. A lot of these guys have proved themselves and a lot of them can play multiple positions. Suddenly I feel a lot better about the O-line than I have in more than two years.
Potential Tackles – Peters, Justice, Dunlap, Herremens, Watkins
Potential Guards – Watkins, Herremens, McGlynn, Jackson
Potential Centers – Jackson, McGlynn
Shux, we can even keep MJG (G), Austin Howard (T), or A.Q Shipley © for depth and not be too worried about injuries.

I think we're fine with Justice..
I don’t want to split up Peters and Herremans they’re monsters together

I know this is fun to speculate...
But let Howard mudd figure that out, I have full faith in him knowing he has been given full control to run the line; which is probably the guarantee he was given to come out of retirement.
I do like herremans and peters together..but have more faith in herremans Vicksburg blind side instead of justice
Don't look into it to much.
Mudd is notorious for looking at everybody at every position along the lines… He’d give a starting job to an UDFA over that same years 1st round OLman if the UDFA played better in practice.

All I can say is that this line
Looks absolutely horrible right now…… they better start meshing soon or the OL will be a problem AGAIN this year..
FLY #7 FLY !!!
In MUDD I trust !!!
Honestly..
If we’re moving Herremans I want the line to look like this:
Peters- Watkins-Justice-McGlynn-Herremans
- Peters takes care of their best pass rusher. You don’t move him to the RT position.
- Watkins played LT in college, moving him to LG eases the curve a little as opposed to moving him to RG.. Bonus is that he plays a lot like Herremans.
- Jamaal at center, Old vet who can hopefully still get things done.
- McGlynn played well enough last season he deserves a spot, he would make a great guard, also him and Herremans have great chemistry, so keeping them two next to each other would be ideal (see the screen plays from last season with them two out in space).
*Herremans at RT wouldn’t be ideal but he did play OT a lot early on in his career and is athletic enough to do work and keep Vick Clean.
This would allow Justice to be the swing tackle, Mathis is a backup who can play both sides, Vandervelde plays both sides.. If Jamaal gets hurt you slide McGlynn down and know he’ll be solid then insert Mathis.

I think you mean to say Peters-Watkins-JACKSON- McGlynn-Herremans.
Herremans plays very well at LG, what makes you think Herremans would be a better RT than either Justice or Dunlap?
