That's right kids, send your money to the Save Asante Foundation. I know we have two new stud CB's and Asante is - arguabley - tradeable. But I don't think so. I love the idea of DRC covering the slot and making up for the inexperience of the Linebackers.
I mean, what is worth trading him for? The only thing worth considering now is a pro-bowl LB or Saftey - but who out there is worth trading away the mighty Asante Samuel? Right Tackle seems to be solid enough and we aren't desperate in any of the offensive positions. The Eagles now are not desparate enough at any position to trade him away for an upgrade. A high pick for next year? Forget it. We already have 12 picks next year. You can't replace the whole team in one draft (except we kind of did last year). And we are so young now, that 12 picks is almost a waste. (Except that the braintrust front office will use those picks to leverage amazing things.)
Last thought - age. Sure Asante is 30 years old, but so is Nnamdi. There is no guarantee which of these two will decline first.
