This has been probably the best Eagles offseason in history. Without a doubt the biggest since I have been a fan. I am still concerned about our holes all over the LB squad but more importantly Right Tackle.
After enjoying a surprisingly successful 2010 season, Winston Justice was rewarded for his efforts with a contract extension. The former 2nd-round pick stepped in for the injured Shawn Andrews, and stabilized the right tackle position.
However, 2010 would not go as well for Justice. He battled a knee injury throughout the season, and wasn’t able to perform as well as he had in the previous season. He missed three starts, and was rarely if ever dominant. In the playoff game against Green Bay, Justice was pulled in favor of King Dunlap.
It isn’t clear if Justice will return as the starter in 2011.
He’ll likely begin the season as the starter, but won’t keep the position if can’t prove that he can be a dominant starter. The Eagles are still high on King Dunlap, and they like the potential of Austin Howard. Improving the offensive line has been a top priority so far this year, and it will continue to be as the season begins. If Justice can’t protect Michael Vick’s blindside, he’ll find himself on the bench.
ALSO, WHAT ARE WE DOING AT LB??? MATTHEWS STARTING? I love Chaney. He's so underrated for what he did at the end of last season, but its only a hope it can continue.
I love all our pickups, but with our LB's situation and can't protect Vicks blindside at RT, then this could be dangerous. One Vick injury and we are in trouble.
