Defensive player of the year for 2011 is...

Wild_Eagle!

Yes, Wild_Eagle's infamous reputation did help him get this award. But he shows that he walks the talk that he serves...with his keyboard. Wild_Eagle protects the motherland (BGN) from the evils of noobs, douche-bags, and other assholes. Although he may be crude and unnecessary, all great defenders draws the yellow flag from time to time.

The Case for Team Kibbles and Vicks

Lets break it down by the 4 sections; coaching, offense, defense, and special teams.

Coaching- He has a head coach that has potential to be good, an offensive coordinator that is excellent and a defensive coordinator that is one of the best when it comes to running the 3-4. My Head Coach has been to 2 superbowls and is only 39 so he isn’t going anywhere soon. My offensive coordinator has been equally as excellent as his and my defensive coordinator has been part of some of the best defenses in the league.

I consider the coordinators to be fairly equal but my head coach is easily better then his.

Skill positions on offense- He has a great QB, a good RB1, an ok RB2, a beastly FB, a good but somewhat inconsistent WR1, an excellent WR2, a good WR3 but with lingering health issues, an average WR4, and a pretty good TE.
I have perhaps the best QB to play the game, a fierce RB1, a RB2 with good potential, a dominating run blocking FB, a top 3 WR currently in the league for my WR1, a good WR2, an alright WR3, and a monster at TE.

I do believe my offensive firepower just edges his.

Offensive Line- He has a LT who already got injured his rookie year and is still an unknown, a pretty good LG, the best C currently in the game, an over the hill, not nearly as effective as he once was RG, and an excellent RT. I have a LT that has been blocking for one of the top offenses in the league and is the winner of the Madden Most Valuable Protectors Award in 2010, The best LG in the game today, a very good C, a RG that leads the way for one of the top running games in the NFL, and a young RT that helped his team keep their passer as the 8th least sacked QB in 2010.

These lines are pretty close but overall talent has to come to me.

Pass Rush/ Run Stoppers- He has the best WLB in the league, a top 3 SLB in the league, a very good MIKE, and a decent TED. He has 2 top DE’s and his NT is pretty good too. I have the instantaneously as a rookie best 4-3 DT in the league teamed with one of the best 4-3 DT’s in the league… ever. I have an excellent LE and a good RE. I have a young beast at MLB, a very good WILL, and an up and down player I moved to SAM where I think he will excel.

He may have me on the pass rush but I have him on stopping the run

Pass Defense- He has an excellent CB1, an old as hell CB2, and an alright CB3. His SS is very good but his FS is underacheiving. I have an excellent young CB1, an alright vet at CB2, and a very good CB3. My SS is good and my FS has the opportunity to be great.

I feel my pass defense is better but I guess this could be considered pretty equal as well.

Special teams- He has a kicker with a lifetime FG made percentage of 77 percent that has finished above 80 percent made for the first time last year ,not including a 5 game stretch he played with Cleveland in 2009. He has a KR who is very explosive but once again has health issues and a PR who is alright. His punter is decent with a 42.9 career average, but his name is Steve Weatherford not Sean Weatherford. He doesn’t even know his punters name! I on the otherhand have an excellent kicker who has a career average of FG made that is at 84.3 percent. My KR had the third best return average last year at 27.5 yards a return. He also had a 12.8 yard punt return average. My punter ,whose name I know, had the fifth best punting average at 46.2 yards.

With this evidence I think my special teams is clearly superior to his and as Eagles fans we know how critical field position can be.

If you look at all of this you see that while my team isn’t nearly as dominating over him as it was against Team Electric, my team is still the better team and will win this game.

Issues:
I consider the coordinators to be fairly equal

Not even close.

a fierce RB1

A fierce RB who averaged 3.9 YPC and had 6 rushing TDs. Meanwhile my ‘good’ RB averaged 4.4 yards per carry and rushed for 11 TDs, had more catches, more receiving yards, more receiving TDs, more all purposed TDs, more all purpose yards and is a better blocker.

a dominating run blocking FB

Who wasn’t even a starter on his team.

a monster at TE.

A monster TE who has missed 14 games in the past two years and has 7 TD catches on his career. Meanwhile my ‘pretty good TE’ had more TDs in his rookie year than Finley has in his career.

I do believe my offensive firepower just edges his.

Outside of Fitz your offensive weapons are incredibly average, meanwhile mine are better than yours and more productive at every position except WR1. My weapons dominate yours.

I have a LT that has been blocking for one of the top offenses in the league and is the winner of the Madden Most Valuable Protectors Award in 2010

Playing on a good offense doesn’t make you a good player. Bushrod is a mediocre player who was a MAJOR reach. Meanwhile my rookie “LT with issues” allowed 4 sacks and had the 8th highest PBE in the NFL in his rookie year (hint, that’s better than Bushrod).

a RG that leads the way for one of the top running games in the NFL

Jake Scott is so overrated it’s ridiculous. Chris Johnson averaged 3.2 yards when running behind the right guard last year.

a young RT that helped his team keep their passer as the 8th least sacked QB in 2010.

A young RT who was active for 2 games, started no games, saw 0 snaps and isn’t even a RT (he is a LG).

He may have me on the pass rush but I have him on stopping the run

You very clearly do not have me on stopping the run. My defensive coordinator just helped guide the Packers to a superbowl win and his defense only allowed 6 rushing touchdowns all year. I’ve got great run stoppers all over my defense. Kyle Williams stuffs the run as well as anyone in the NFL despite not having a good supporting cast. Richard Seymour is a force. DeMarcus Ware is the best run defending OLB in the NFL, Lawrence Timmons is a top 10 run stuffing LB, Bart Scott is the absolute best in the game at taking on and shedding blocks, Champ Bailey is a top 3 run supporting corner in the NFL, Davis and Cason are willing run supporters and Dawan Landry is a top 5 run supporting safety in the game. Check the stats.

I have the instantaneously as a rookie best 4-3 DT in the league

Suh is one of the worst run stoppers in the NFL.

He has an excellent CB1, an old as hell CB2, and an alright CB3.

And each one is superior to the player you have at the same spots.

his FS is underacheiving.

If under achieving is being one of the best cover safeties in the league and being one of the best blitzers in the league then Michael Huff underachieves.

I have an excellent young CB1, an alright vet at CB2, and a very good CB3. My SS is good and my FS has the opportunity to be great.

Joe Haden is good. Charles TIllman is mediocre and aging. Chris Gamble was benched last year he was so terrible. Donte Whitner is one of the worst safeties in the league, he misses tackles, has one of the worst run stop rates in the league and is a poor pass defender. Nate Allen did show promise but he looked injury prone his rookie year and he gave up the most TDs from the safety spot in the league last year. Clearly your secondary doesn’t measure up to mine.

He has a kicker with a lifetime FG made percentage of 77 percent that has finished above 80 percent made for the first time last year ,not including a 5 game stretch he played with Cleveland in 2009.

Cundiff was top 10 in the NFL last year in field goal percentage with 89.5% of field goals made. Do you know what Gostowski’s % was? 77%, 32nd in the league… Yeah… You were saying?

His punter is decent with a 42.9 career average, but his name is Steve Weatherford not Sean Weatherford.

Whatever. My punter downed the most punts in the league inside the 20 and forced the most fair catches, those are more important stats than punter average.

You’re a spin master my friend.

Oh shit. You went there.

Long Term Potential:
I built my team to win now and in the future, I built a dynasty. I believe that the point of this was to build a team that is equip to win both now and in the future and I feel like my team does that far better than his does. He has a 35 year old QB who is clearly on the decline, his RB is wearing down and didn’t even average 4 YPC last year, Robert Mathis is 30, Will Smith is 29, Kevin Williams is 30, DJ Williams is 28, Derrick Johnson is 28, Charles Tillman is 30 and Chris Gamble. Most of his team is on the back half of their primes, clearly not ready to win in the long term. My team on the other hand is young, talented and proven.

Coaching:
Mike Tomlin might have the rings but he also walked into an extremely friendly situation. He got to work with Dick Lebeau who is one of the greatest defensive minds ever and his offense had an established offensive coordinator with a franchise QB. Mike Tomlin isn’t responsible for the Steelers’ success, he is simply a ‘talking head’ who is a good motivator and teacher, he isn’t a good game planner but he is able to cover that up in Pittsburgh.

Meanwhile, my head coach walked into one of the worst situations in the entire league and turned the team into a playoff team in just two years. He is one of the best offensive minds in the game. Before Todd Haley was running the ball down people’s throats he was dazzling people in Arizona. He was lighting up the scoreboard with Kurt Warner, Larry Fitzgerald, Anquan Boldin and Steve Breaston while also maintaining a solid run game with Edgerrin James and Tim Hightower. In 2008 he called the #2 passing offense in the NFL and the #4 overall offense. In 2007 he called the #5 overall passing offense and the #7 scoring offense. He is one of the best offensive minds in the game who has developed a throng of offensive talent like Larry Fitzgerald, Steve Breaston, Early Doucet, Tim Hightower, Jamaal Charles, Dwayne Bowe, Tony Moeaki and Matt Cassell and he revived the career of Kurt Warner.

I think it’s pretty clear that Pete Carmichael Jr. is the superior coach to Cam Cameron. Cam Cameron rode LT in San Diego, utterly failed in Miami when he couldn’t call an offense or develop talent to save his life and then he got to Baltimore and is known as one of the most conservative play callers in the league. Meanwhile Carmichael is putting up incredible numbers in New Orleans. Greg Carmichael Jr. has been coordinating one of the most high flying offenses in the NFL for the past two years but before he was the full offensive coordinator he had coordinated the New Orleans Saints passing game since 2006. Do you know what team has had the best offense over that time span? You guessed it, New Orleans.

I think it’s quite clear that Dom Capers is better than John Fox. No need to argue it.

Quarterbacks:
He might have one of the best ever but I’ve got one of the best going today. Just compare their stat lines and you can see that they’re on equal footing:
Rivers: 4,710 yards, 66% completion percentage, 30 TDs, 13 INTs and 8.7 YPA
Manning: 4,700 yards, 66.3% completion percentage, 33 TDs, 17 INTs and 6.9 YPA

And Rivers is younger by 6 years.

Running Game:
His ‘fierce’ RB1 isn’t as good as ‘fierce’ would imply and Steven Jackson’s stats can’t match the Peyton Hillis’.
Steven Jackson: 330 carries, 1,241 yards, 3.8 YPC, 6 TDs, 46 receptions, 383 receiving yards, 1,624 all purpose yards and 6 all purpose TDs.
Peyton Hillis: 270 carries, 1,177 yards, 4.4 YPC, 11 TDs, 61 receptions, 477 receiving yards, 2 receiving TDs, 1,654 all purpose yards and 13 all purpose TDs.

It’s clear that Hillis is superior in every area of the game. Peyton Hillis is a better runner, is more powerful, is more elusive, is a better receiver and is a better blocker.

Ryan Mathews is a talented young back but he had injury issues and isn’t a proven receiver. My #2 back is an up and comer who did great in games that he started and is one of the best receiving running backs in the game and most elusive as well. Just compare their numbers when they start:
Ryan Mathews (average in starts): 56 yards per start, .55 TDs per start and 1.89 receptions per start
Mike Goodson (average in starts): 91.6 yards per start, .33 TDs per start and 5.3 receptions per start

And his ‘great blocking full back’ wasn’t even the starter on the New York Jets. Meanwhile mine was blocking for Ryan Mathews and Darren Sproles while also toting the ball 182 times for 735 yards and 11 TDs.

My running game is superior to his.

Receivers:
Greg Jennings is a top 4 receiver in the league today, he is a great playmaker down field who led the NFL in catches of 25 yards or more last year and has caught 37 touchdowns in the past 4 years. Calling Greg Jennings ‘inconsistent’ is just ignorant, he is top 4 in nearly every major receiving stat in the league in the past 4 years.
Brandon Marshall blows Michael Crabtree out of the water. Marshall has 393 receptions, 4724 yards and 26 TDs over the past 4 years. Crabtree hasn’t done anything at the NFL level.
My ’good #3 with lingering health issues" is better than his #2. Look at their stats the past two years:
Michael Crabtree: 103 catches, 1,366 yards, 8 TDs, 13.3 YPC
Percy Harvin: 131 catches, 1,658 yards, 11 TDs, 12.7 YPC, 33 carries, 242 yards, 1 rushing TD and 14 total TDs

And then clearly Mike Thomas is just the cherry on top. He compares with Eddie Royal very favorably and he is my #4 not my #3.

Tight Ends:

His ‘beastly TE’ has missed 14 of 32 games the past two years and has 7 TD catches on his career. My ‘pretty good’ TE had more TD catches in his rookie year than his ‘monster’ has caught in his career.

Offensive Line:

The only good player on his offensive line is Logan Mankins, other than that it’s a cluster of mediocre/un-proven players. Bushrod is a bad LT who has allowed 13.5 sacks the past two years. Ryan Kalil is a mediocre center. Jake Scott is a mediocre RG. Vlad was only active for 2 games in his rookie season and he isn’t even a RT for the Jets.

Meanwhile I’ve got a top 10 pass protector in the NFL in Russell Okung who is the best young OT in the NFL and opposite him I’ve got the best RT in the NFL. He admitted that Mangold is the best C in the NFL. My ‘washed up’ RG was a top 10 pass protector in the NFL last year and when the Giants ran behind him they averaged 4.48 yards per carry, 6th most in the entire league. And my ‘okay’ LG is a pro bowl caliber OG.

I win the offensive line battle far and away.

Pass Rush:
And there is no way he can protect Manning long enough to shield him from my pass rush, last year my guys combined for 47.5 sacks and a tremendous amount of hurries and QB hits. My pass rush is insane and my guys are playing with one of the best blitzers in the NFL in Dom Capers, there is no defending my pass rush.

Meanwhile his pass rush features a mediocre RE in Will Smith, a one dimensional LE, a dominant pass rushing UT who is a terrible run stuffer and an aging DT who is no where near the best 4-3 DT to ever play the game. I will run all over this line and my offensive line can handle this pass rush easily.

Run defense:

I get the edge in run defense.

Special Teams:

I have the better, K, P and my returners are just as good as Weems.

Run defense:

Ok.. My argument. "team suck my vick"

Coaching: Caldwell’s one of the better young HC’s in the game, Smith’s very respectable however he really hasn’t been that deep into the playoffs and Caldwell’s already taken a team to the superbowl.. Marty has produced the top O in Eagles history every year for the past 3 years. Spag’s is a defensive guru, he’s a complete monster when it comes to getting pressure, he’s the closest thing to JJ there is.

The combo of Caldwell, Marty and Spag’s balances out this team my O is very potent and we attack through the air and on the ground, and my D can handle anybody.

Offensive Skill: Big Ben is a big, strong, mobile QB with a big arm. He will be throwing to Desean Jackson, Hakeem Nicks, Julio Jones, Owen Daniels, Greg Olsen and Lesean McCoy… The WR’s are to potent for his DB’s to handle, my TE’s are mismatches for all of his LB’s and McCoy would run all over the 3-4.

My WR’s are to fast and strong for his CB’s, and even his Safety’s wouldn’t be able to contain Desean Jackson..

Offensive Line: My OL is young, big, and athletic… And with my opponent going with a 3-4 this really plays to me a bit.

Staley should be able to handle Orakpo.. Kreutz should be able to handle Williams one on one… Jason Smith would give Seymour fits.. That leave Lutui and Anthony Davis to help out along the line and move up to the second level… My OL matches up well with his old, unathletic DL.

Defensive Line: Abraham will give Long fits all day long, Tony Brown and Haynesworth will rip Albert, Watkins and Sendlein apart and destroy Tom Brady.. Edward would be able to out muscle Stewart..

My DL is just to strong for me not to get pressure with my front 4, they’d swarm and pressure Brady and it’d be like that Superbowl Spags won for New York.

Linebackers: With my DL eating up all the blockers my LB’s will be able to sit back and make plays, Ruud will have free shots, Urlacher will be able to do his thing, Keith Rivers will be able to play the run a lot more since my opponent has no tight end… Add in Curry who’s very athletic and we got ourselves a LB core who can just read and react.

Cornerbacks: Kenny Britt vs Asante, Mike William (SEA) vs Grimes, Steve Smith (NYG) vs Sheldon Brown… I’ll take my DB’s over his WR’s anyday.. Also with my Safety’s needing to cover a WR every once in a while I’d be happy with Cribb going against Earl Thomas or Moore.

Safety’s: Earl Thomas and Moore will be able to sit back and reap the rewards of a DL wrecking Brady, and DB’s who can shut down WR’s.. And with the LB’s being tackling machines they will for the most part be able to play the ball.

Gameplan

Offense-

On offense my team will come out with 5 OLman, 1 TE, 3 WR’s, Big Ben and McCoy most of the time… We’ll spread the 3-4 out, force my opponent to either have a LB cover Julio Jones, or a TE, then force another to cover McCoy… I’m just going to spread out his DL and run it with McCoy, then use the run to set up the play action where my WR’s are to talented to stay covered.

Defense-

On defense I’m going to attack with the front 4, the best way to stop Brady is to pressure him, and Haynesworth vs a sub par C and a rookie RG there’s no way Edwards won’t win 60-75% of his battles with Stewart and I’ll take Abraham vs Long and Brown vs Albert one on one all day long…

With his OL being tied up and not able to get to my LB’s they can worry about taking care of Gore.. Which I think my LB’s speed, strength and tenacity really help with that..

My DB’s are all ballhawks and with Cribbs, Mike Williams (sea) and Britt being inconsistant, and Steve Smith (NYG) being a possession WR I’ll take Grimes, Asante, Brown, Thomas and Moore against Brady and his group of WR’s.

Defensive player of the year for 2011 is...

Wild_Eagle!

Yes, Wild_Eagle's infamous reputation did help him get this award. But he shows that he walks the talk that he serves...with his keyboard. Also special teams goes to me,

Desean jackson’s electric man.

So all of that (however wrong it is), is irrelevant.

Alright, first off, the people W_E talks about aren't even on my team as d-jack points out.

My defense WRECKS his offense.

Joe Staley in 8 games last year gave up 2 sacks….that would be 4 given up in a full season…slightly above average

In pass protection, Jason Smith is not in the top 15 in the league, and gave up 5 sacks I believe…mediocre for a RT.

Anthony Davis gave up 10 sacks last season and isn’t even a guard. LOL

Olin Kreutz is old as shit and on the decline, and Mike Lupui is mediocre.

And your telling me Jay Ratliff, Julius Peppers, Tyson Alualu, and Cliff Avril couldn’t handle that? Alualu would beat Anthony Davis like a rent mule, Ratliff would take away Kreutz and Lupui, and so Avril and Peppers are in complete mismatches on the outside.

Hakeem Nicks is good. Desean Jackson is good. Julio Jones is a rookie. But w_e made a huge mistake. THEY ARE ALL THE SAME TYPE OF RECEIVER. THEY ALL RUN THE SAME ROUTES (NOT EVEN GOOD ROUTE RUNNERS), ARE ALL INCONSISTENT.

If you think Big Ben is going to have enough time to chuck it downfield and hope that they all run good routes without a nice option as a safety blanket running smaller routes.

McCoy is good, sure, but he’s not one of the elite running backs…yet. Mark Ingram is an injury prone rookie, who had a terrible last year in college. Terrell Suggs is the top (along with DWare) run stopping linebacker in the league.

On top of that, Vilma and Tulloch are some of the TOP tacklers in the league. Tulloch had one of the best broken tackle rates in the league (meaning he was a solid tackler).

My secondary is beast as well. Brandon Flowers and Rashean Mathis are fantastic tacklers. Flowers allowed only 1 broken tackle in 65 attempts. Rashean Mathis had one of the better stop rates according to Football Outsiders.

My safeties are strong as hell too. Eric Weddle is a top 5 safety and Malcolm Jenkins is highly underrated. They should be able to hold their own against his receivers.

On offense, I have a dominant offensive line. Jake Long is one of the best pass protecting and run stopping tackles IN THE LEAGUE. He and Joe Thomas are the two best tackles BAR NONE. Doug Free on the other side rated as the BEST RUN BLOCKING TACKLE IN THE COUNTRY.

Lyle Sendlein is awesome. He’s young, and last year ranked as the 3rd best pass protecting C/G in the country. Danny Watkins is a pro-ready rookie who’s ready to contribute, and Branden Albert is highly underrated.

Tom Brady will have all day. Tom Brady. Speaking of which….his weapons….

Steve Smith….remind you of Wes Welker?
Kenny Britt…..a less talented (but talented, nonetheless) Randy Moss?
Mike Williams….a much better Deion Branch?

Oh and, how bout his running threats?

Ahmad Bradshaw…..a MUCH better Danny Woodhead who is also a receiving threat
Frank Gore…..a TOP 10 replacement for Benjarvus Green-Eliis

and….you guys remember the damage Brady did with his tight ends right? Who do I have at tight end? Oh that’s right…..JASON MOTHERFUCKING WITTEN, who is young at 28 and has been producing at 100 rec, 1000 yds, 5-6 TDs every year with Tony Romo as his QB. Imagine….with Tom Brady.

I’VE TAILORED THIS OFFENSE AROUND TOM BRADY BECAUSE WE KNOW IT WORKS. And if my dominating OL wasn’t enough….Witten is a fantastic blocker as well, and I have one of the best FB blockers in the league in Vontae Leach to burn holes through the defense in the run game, and give Brady EVEN MORE TIME.

My coaching staff is perfect for this too. Mike Nolan is an aggressive, pass rush happy DC. Jason Garrett is a very balanced OC. And Mike Smith is a player friendly Coach of the year, thats made the playoffs in every year of his tenure.

BOOM.

nah, got to keep it fair. Not going to ask anybody to vote for me.

I put up my reasoning for why my team is superior. If that doesn’t convince voters, than maybe my team really isn’t good enough. I don’t think people are voting for W_E just ‘cause he’s an Eagles fan and I’m a Giants fan.
