BGN NFL Draft Selection Thread

When I think of having a fast explosive offense, there aren’t many guys I would rather have leading my team. Michael Vick has personified the image of a dual threat QB. If he can manage to build off of the stellar performances he gave last year he will be an unstoppable force. When I look at this I see a man that took the next step in his career, and is ready to work even harder to improve even more. He shed the label of a “run first QB” and hung in the pocket, took the hits, and accurately delivered the ball. I want my captain to be a guy that will sacrifice for his team, and put them on his back when he has to. I believe that with the right protection, and supporting cast Vick will be damn near unstoppable. In my offense he won’t be required to pass as often as he does now because of the addition of a very strong running game to try to keep the defenses honest. Look for Vick to finally quiet the non believers this year.

Yes, you could say “Why Rodgers over Brady? Brady is the best QB in the NFL!” Well this is how i see it. Brady isnt getting any younger, Aaron Rodgers is 27 while Brady is 33. Im looking to build my team around my QB, i dont want to have to go looking for a new QB any time soon. Rodgers has all the tools, Strong arm, accuracy, decently athletic, and a leader. I like that hes mobile, he isnt a statue like Brady or Manning. And lets not forget….he just won the Superbowl.

Joe Thomas, Left Tackle.

The game of football is won between the offensive and defensive lines of opposing teams. The best way a team is built is by starting from the line and going outward. Hence the Thomas pick – he is, unarguablely, the best Left Tackle in the game. Great pass blocker to protect the QB’s blind side (unless you’re Vick) and great run block for running back to run behind.

Tom Brady, Quarterback

Was there really much doubt with this pick? Peyton Manning may be a field general, but Brady is a winner. He’s one of the most efficient quarterbacks in NFL history. He’s had Bill Belicheck as a coach, and a pretty decent line for a lot of his career, but they did not throw 36 TDs to only 4 INTs last season. He’s played with much less talent than people give him credit for.

He made great decisions and was an effective game manager early on in his career when he didn’t have any weapons or a very effective running game. When he DID get some toys to play with, he only exploded for 50 TDs to only 8 INTs. Last year, despite losing Moss and having a hobbled Welker, plus a shaky line, Brady had a 111.0 QB rating.

He is, and always was, the number 1 player on my big board. He might not be multi-talented like Vick, have a gun like Rodgers, or ever be as prolific as Peyton, but every year, he adapts. He will take whatever team you give him and lead it to victory. A franchise QB is the biggest piece to the puzzle, the most value you can give to your team…so when one of the best in NFL history (with no signs of slowing down ANYTIME soon) is available, this became an easy decision for me.

Troy Polumalu, Saftey

Ndamukong Suh

I am choosing Ndamukong Suh because in one year he became the best 4-3 Defensive Tackle in the league. I want a strong D-line that will kill opponents run and pass game and for me it starts with this man. Young and Dominant, sign me up.

Drew Brees, QB, New Orleans.

Recognizing that any competitive team needs a potent signal caller, LCE bounces on the top remaining QB with fuel left in the tank.

GM anuj discussed his pick with the media. “It was a big decision. Our staff felt our first pick should go QB. However, we had three QBs on our board still available. However, our medical staff gave us a warning on Peyton Manning (QB, Indianapolis) and we knew that the trends were low on his tires. Matt Ryan (QB, Atlanta) was another promising pick. However, Brees has proven to be a quality signal caller under pressure, leading his team to a championship and being an active member in his community. This is the kind of leadership and quality we are looking for to be the face of our franchise.”

I really was not expecting Rivers to be on the board. Rivers is as good as any QB in the league, he carries his Chargers team on his back, he is tough as nails, he is fiery and his production is astounding. Forgive my lacking description but Rivers is a premier signal caller and I did not think he would be on the board. And he is still only 29, he is smack dab in the middle of his prime which means he probably still has a good 6-7 years left in him. With this pick I get my franchise passer who can win me games now and in the future.

CB Nnamdi Asomugha, Oakland

Asomugha takes away 50% of the field in the pass game and is a force. He’s a willing tackler in the run game and teams look the other way when facing this man in the passing game. See that picture? Thats him telling your QB, “Use your head, I’m covering that guy. Don’t throw there for your team’s sake”

Here is a wide receiver that is a physical specimen that produces. They call him Megatron for a reason, hes big, tall, and runs a 4.3 Forty. He is the gold standard when it comes to a player, no matter who is at quarterback, this guy produces

Already got Wills add Clay to that what LBs. In his rookie year he went to the pro bowl and in his second year he won NFC defensive player of the year. His ceiling is only rising and he was projected to play 4-3 out of college so no worries there.

I like my offense to keep the ball clean, so with a Johnson and Johnson, two stud wide reciever in the game, a decent quarterback would have a field day throwing. Fast and Physical, and Tall, good luck going up for jump balls in the redzone or jamming them. Peace!

A pass rush hides a good secondary and with the two premier corners in the NFL gone I figure I would add the premier pass rusher instead. DeMarcus has the most sacks in the NFL since 2005 and that is something I’m more than happy to have on my team.

I single handedly helped my friend win his FF football league last year, because I whispered in his ear, a couple of hours before his FF football draft “draft Arian”“drat Arian”. Well, he ran for 1616 yards with 16 TD’s (coincidence) with 2220 all purpose yards.

Chris Johnson, RB, Tennessee

With the best running back off the board, LCE looks again towards skill players. GM anuj comments to the AP about his teams next pick. "With LeSean McCoy (RB, Philadelphia) off the board early, we decided to switch out pick from OT to RB. Skill players put up points, and we need our teams offense to be competitive both passing and running. Chris Johnson is another one of those special backs that can take over a game in a moments notice. There is a significant drop in difference makers after McCoy and Johnson. We did like Adrian Peterson (RB, Minnesota), however we red flagged him due to his fumbling issue. I am very confident in the future of our team with building blocks such as Drew Brees and Chris Johnson.

Peyton Manning

The most prolific passer since Dan Marino drops to me at the 25th pick, there is no way to pass him by. Peyton is a true leader and can direct any offense to victory at anytime. With this pick I now have the best pure passer in the league and a catalyst to build around.

Jake Long, LT

I’ve always believed that the most important things to build a franchise are a superstar QB, and a top notch protector for the franchise QB. Well, I’ve got arguably a top 5 QB in the history of the game here, and probably a top 2 talent to cover his ass on the blindside.

Jake Long is a monster of a man that’s given up only a few sacks over the three seasons of his career. He did have recent shoulder surgery, but it was minor and he’s expected to be fully recovered. He’s young and should be the defining superstar that anchors this offensive line for years to come.

Trent Cole, defensive end.

Trent Cole is one of the most underrated player in the game. The dude is the perfect combination of an end. He is a great pass rusher, having 57 sacks since 2005. He is also great against the run – meaning he can beat offensives in multiple ways. Cole is also just 28 and in the prime of his career.

Mario Williams DE/LB (havent decided)

Since a certain GIANTS FAN, ruined my original pick. I decided to go with my second choice (who im am completely happy with) Mario Williams…is a beast, hes fast, strong, and athletic. Hes a Great pass rusher and a run stopper. Havent decided if i was going to play him at DE or 3-4 outside linebacker yet.

Jamaal Charles RB and Brandon Lloyd WR

Our front office has decided that we want a dream team on offense, filled with serious home run hitters, and these 2 fit the bill. Charles was runner up in rushing, boasting a ridiculous 6.4 ypa. Llloyd was last years recieving leader and is more than capable of getting down field quick enough to haul in Vicks beautiful long balls.

Jerod Mayo, Linebacker

Jerod Mayo, IMO is the second best inside linebacker next to Pat Willis. Stats dont lie, and Mayo led the league in tackle with 175! Thats 15 more than the next guy. As you can tell, im going the Eagles route, youth. Jerod Mayo and Mario Williams will be stars on my Defense for many years to come.

Justin Tuck, defensive end.

Tuck, like Cole, is one of the best and complete defensive ends in the league. Since starting in ’07, Tuck had 39.5 sacks, showing he is capable of rushing the passer well. He also had 60+ tackles four straight seasons. With Cole opposite to him, Tuck should have an even easier time going against opposing tackles.

Julius Peppers, DE

I have three basic tenets. Get a QB. Check. Protect the QB. Check. Kill the opposing QB. And with this pick, an emphatic check.

Julius Peppers is a monster in every sense of the word. He was my top-ranked defensive end, so to get him now was highway robbery. There was a run on DE’s, so he was easily the best player available. He brings a nastiness and is as complete a defensive end as there is in football. He commands double teams and is welcome addition to this eventual SuperBowl winning squad.

Since Manning was available and I selected him, this made me revalue my charts. I want a sure handed,explosive target for Manning that will give me several good years. Enter Fitzgerald. His skill set could very well set multiple records with a QB like Manning throwing to him. lets hope so.

Cough Unfortunately with the amount of time before our pick in the first round, the front office and myself decided to step out and have a few drinks before our turn. Cough However, before we knew we ended up in a shit hole motel in Bangkok, with one of our FO’s with no hair on his head, one with a tat on his face, and one of our FO’s went missing. And most importantly we were all so drunk we didn’t remember what time it was in the US. Cough we scrambled around Thailand to try to discover what happened and to find our missing friend. We would like to offer our sincere apologies to our fellow GMs for our unprofessional actions. Cough without further ado, our first pick was Adrian Peterson

We felt that a real value fell to us so late, really late. Peterson is a nasty runner that has amazing speed and quickness. He can do everything and is arguably the only every down back left in this league. We plan to pound and pound and pound … and pound. Why? Because he’s motherfucking Adrian Peterson. Oh, and he’s dramatically improved his fumbling problem. He brings amazing production and is still young. He makes apposing defenses struggle, even with 9 men in the box and two of those guys are Troy Polomalu and Ed Reed. Yeah.

This is where out "event" cough really hurt us. Although we missed out on future Hall of Famer Peyton Manning, we were able to grab a young up and comer in Matt Ryan. Both have a lot of similarities, arm strength and accuracy. Both even threw TD’s on their first ever passes in the NFL. Is that a sign or what? Last year was too early to call him a top 10 QB, but another year like he had in 2011, there is no question he becomes an elite quarterback, and he still has his best year ahead of him. He can win us a championship now and 7 years later. Oh and his nickname is Matty Ice, nuff said about our 4th quarter comebacks.

I think I’m doing great. Philip RIvers and DeMarcus Ware? I’ve got a top 4 QB (who can be argued top 3) and the best pass rusher in the entire league. I’m going beast mode on all of y’all.

Ryan Clady, LT, Denver

Arguably the best tackle overall, LCE was pleasantly surprised to find Clady here, despite having two tackles off the board. GM anuj took some time out from his draft room to talk to the media stating, “We are still surprised to find Clady available. He was the highest on our big board and with two tackles off the board, he was still there. We had spent our first overall pick on a QB, and now we needed to make sure we protected our insurance by drafting the youngest and most talented LT on the board. Clady will be a fixture on our line for years to come, protecting Brees’ blind side and leading the way for Chris Johnson.”

Greg Jennings, WR

Not a hard decision at all. With other top receivers coming off the board I needed to grab a top guy for Rivers to throw to now. Greg Jennings is a top 4 WR in the NFL, in every major statistical category he is top 4 in the past 4 years. He is an explosive down field play maker who can get behind defenses. Greg Jennings led the NFL in catches of 25 yards or more last season. He is a precise route runner who can separate on underneath routes. He is also one of the best receivers in the NFL after the catch. In the past 4 years he has caught 37 touchdowns. Greg Jennings is simply one of the best receivers in the game today and I’m glad to have him on my side catching passes from Philip RIvers.

Roddy White, WR, ATL

Roddy White is an exceptional WR who runs great routes and knows how to get open and he’s a YAC monster. Sam Bradford will have a field day throwing to Mr. White.

Cameron Wake, 3-4 OLB, Miami.
Cameron Wake went from being a solid rotation player in Miami to being an excellent pass rushing outside linebacker in Miami’s defense. Thankfully, he is now on MY defense. He’s excellent with his hands and shedding blocks and has great explosion off the ball. He’ll be putting the pressure on opposing QB’s, getting sacks and forcing the ball out of the QB’s hand early and into to welcoming hands of Mr. Asomugha. Welcome to the team, sir.

I need a presence on the defensive line and Williams dominated last year. He had 77 tackles, 5.5 sacks and 11 TFL. And the best part is that he can play all across the line, he can play NT in either defensive front, he can play 3-4 DE and he can play 4-3 UT.

Dwight Freeny, DE, Indianapolis

With LCE’s base defense being a 4-3, the Eagles were in need of a strong pass rusher that would call for a double block, the kind of DEs that coaches must plan around. GM anuj comments, “With the plethora of DEs flying off the board, we pounced on one of the top DEs remaining. Unlike his counterpart in Indianapolis, Freeny does not rely purely on speed and has a mean bull rush. With a pass rusher like Freeny, potential LBs will have an easier time getting to the QB.”

Guard Logan Mankins

I know an O-Line should start with protecting the QB’s blind side, but I am trying to get the best players at their respective positions and this man is the best Left Guard in the league. He is mean, nasty, and strong. He can be a road grader or keep DT and NT off of Peyton during pass rushes. He is skilled enough to be the best at what he does and young enough to give me several more good years.

I picked this guy, cuz tho he is a dick. he is a beast and can stop the run while rushing the pass. i need run stoppers and this guy gets dirty

Terrell Suggs, LB

I simply cannot believe that Terrell Suggs was still available. I know I got a pass rusher the last time around in Julius Peppers, but both are also premier run stoppers as well. Suggs is right in his prime at the youthful age of 28, so he has plenty of years left. He will be the enforcer that my defense needs on the linebacking core, and is one of the most cerebral players in the league.

He adds a nastiness to the defense, and again, was rated one of the best run stoppers by PFF. He added 11 sacks to his resume last season as well. What. A. Fucking. Beast.

Chad Greenway, outside linebacker.

So, yeah, one of the best 3-4 outside linebacker is left on the board. The dude is a tackling freak, racking up 144, 99, and 115 last three years. He will help bring a run stopping force for the defense.

Maurice Jones-Drew RB

Best available running back IMO, i want a strong running game and a guy that can get the short yards, as well as break away a few. Aaron Rodgers with the bowling ball.

I needed help in the secondary. And i have a man crush on McCourty. He has tons of potential as a cornerback. Coming into new england as a ROOKIE and having 7 picks and 82 tackles! Hes shown that he can get the picks, while also not being afraid to get dirty. Hes a guy i expect to be a top performer on my defense for many years.

DeMeco Ryans, Middle Linebacker

One of the more unnoticed MLB in the league, due to being stuck on the Texans. In his career, he had under 112 tackles just once in his career, last year when he played only 6 games. Him and Greenway will provide a run stopping linebacking duo for years.

Jay Ratliff, NT

As a Giants fan, I believe the war is won in the trenches. Oh, and I love pass rushing ability. I add my 3rd straight pass rusher to a punishing defense. Ratliff, though undersized, is strong enough to be a good run defender, and he’s an awesome pass rusher.

He will fortify my line, along with Julius Peppers and open the way for Suggs and my other linebackers to wreak havoc on the opposing QB. Scared? You better be.

i love the guys speed, the guys ability to take it to the house of a pick or a return, his hands. his cover skills and the fact that he may bet the next shut down cb in the NFL

We felt it necessary to continue to give Peyton Manning the best protection we could, especially on his blindside and went with the top rated LT left on the board. Pairing him with Mankins makes our left side mostly impenetrable, and should allow Manning all types of times to find Fitzgerald and any other weapons we will draft. Young but already a top tackle, once again a win now- win later pick.

LaMarr Woodley, LOLB, Pittsburgh

After selecting a presence in their Defensive line, the Liberty City Eagles decide to select a presence in their linebacking core. GM anuj wasnt unable to hide his excitement as he claim, “Woodley is a terror rushing the pass and has the ability to fall into coverage. He is good against the run and also has the ability to punch out the ball. If the line blocks Freeny, then they sure as hell won’t be able to block Woodley then.”

While I may need to address offense (and I will dont worry) the key to any 3-4 D is the NT. Wilfork was my #3 NT and was shocked to see him on the board. Easy call for Mr.Electric

Matt Ryan is drawing comparisons to Peyton Manning, so lets draw them further. Wayne has been an amazing threat for Manning. He’s a polished route runner and and has amazing hands. He’s going to really help Ryan, like he has Manning. He maybe be over 32, but route running and hands don’t go away with age.

Jahri Evans OG

He’s the best guard in football and is still 27. He is always healthy and is dominate. And with the other teams with dominate pass rushers, he’ll keep Ryan healthy and Peterson happy with holes the size of pickup trucks. Leaving AP with the secondary. Even Ed Reed can’t handle AP one on one.

Again with apologies to BBI, Bowe is a stud WR and will instantly help this offense. Bowe is a physical freak and after finally putting it all together last year he will only rise.

Vontae Davis, CB, Miami

What a beast. I’m trying to build a team that is equip to win both now and in the future and Davis really helps with that. Vontae Davis is only 23 years old but he is already one of the best corners in football. He is a super freak athlete at 5’11" and 203 pounds while also having a 37" vertical jump. He has the size and strength to go toe to toe with bigger receivers, he can high point the ball with the best of them, he has the long speed to stay with deep threats and the short area quickness to stick with great route runners. He is a lockdown corner who according to PFF was only targeted on 7% of his coverage snaps. He only allowed more than 50 yards receiving 4 times last season. He is very good in run support. And he makes plays on the ball, in 2 years he has 5 interceptions and 23 passes defended. Teams are just starting to avoid throwing at him despite the fact that Sean Smith on the other side of him is an extremely good player too. Brett Favre called him “One of the best corners in the league” and I’m thrilled to have him on my team.

Tramon Williams, CB, Green Bay.

One of the up and coming Corners of the league right now, LCE continues to work on its defense. Many people know about Williams during his explosion during the playoffs. While some people falter in the spotlight, Williams thrives. GM anuj comments, “Last season, Tramon had six picks in the regular season. He broke out in the playoffs and made critical plays during the stretch of the Packers Super Bowl run. While we have other CBs scoped out, Williams was our choice to become our #1 CB.”

DE, Robert Mathis

So after starting a solid foundation of my offense I figure there are only a couple more RDE I liked left on the board and decided to go with the best. Mathis brings a veteran presensce to my D-line and has been consistently one of the top 10 DE in previous years. With Suh occupying both a tackle and guard I feel Mathis can reach heights he has not yet surpassed and feel at this point, he is an excellent selection.

Brandon Flowers, CB

There was a run on corners earlier, but thankfully one of my best young up and comers is still available. In his three years in the league, he’s established himself as one of THE best tackling corners in the NFL.

ProFootballFocus rated Flowers as THE best tackling corner, garnering 65 tackles with only ONE missed tackle all of last season. On top of that, Flowers is no slouch as a cover corner as well. Pass Defense Success Rate is a metric used by Football Outsiders and measures number of targets versus stopping the receiver for less than 45% of the first down yards on 1st down, 60% on 2nd down, and 100% on 3rd down.

Flowers came in at a respectable 60%. He came in 4th in the league in YAC allowed as well, at only 2.0 yards. When he gets you, he gets you. His coverage has been solid all year, with 14 passes defensed, 2 INTs, and 1 FF.

The best part is….he’s only 25 and scratching the surface of his potential. He’ll be a fixture on this defense for years to come.

Nick Collins, Free Safety.

William Moore gets pick before Collins. Are you kidding me?? Nick Collins is one of the best Free Safety in the league. One of the best cover guy and a very pick-happy individual. He has 4, 6, and 7 picks over his last three seasons. The dude is an overall beast and will be a massive force to reckon with for Team Imperator.

Jeremy Maclin, WR

With QB and RB covered, I needed to add 1 play making WR. Jeremy Maclin will be a future star, hes already a great player, but is over shadowed by desean jackson. Maclin will be the next young star WR along with Wallace and Nicks. I like his size and ability to make the underneath catches, and he has the speed to stretch the field for a big play. Jmac will be catching many TDs from Rodgers.

Jonathan Joseph, CB, Bengals

Antonio Gates, TE, San Diego

Darnell Dockett

I wanted to beef up my D-line, so i went with the best available Defensive tackle. He didnt have as great as a year as 2009, but i feel with him and Mario Williams together…they could do major damage.

Jim Leonhard, Strong Safety.

Jim Leonhard, since breaking out with the Ravens and being brought over to the Jets with Rex Ryan, has been a stellar force for the Jets. He will make an excellent counterpart to Nick Collins and help form one of the better safety tandem out there.

Eric Weddle, FS

Weddle is one of the most underrated players in the NFL. He’s quietly put up a great couple seasons for San Diego and is only going to get better as time goes on.

He’s a force in the run game, and is capable of lights out coverage. Pairing him up with Brandon Flowers gives me 2 balanced game changers that will be playing together for many, many years to come. Add that to my pass rushers up front, and you have the making of a balanced, dominant defense the likes of which the NFL has not seen.

DT, Kevin Williams

With the taking of Dockett we needed to grab the last elite DT left. Kevin Williams is a staple at the DT position and is one of the best ever. He swallows up runners and collapses pockets, causing havoc in the backfield. Pairing him with Suh will not only give Suh a great teacher to model himself after, at least on the field, but will completely consume the 2 G and the C. His veteran presence will add the experience and skill level we need to succeed.

Freeny and pass rush specialist/power hitter/pimp Osi Umenyiora will team up in the Liberty City to bring a decisive pass rush to LCE. GM anuj spoke on this pick, “We wanted another stud DE opposite of Dwight and were surprised to have find Osi drop. A strong pass rush helps out an entire defense overall and with Osi and Dwight rushing from both sides, offensive lines are bound for trouble. Plus Osi is a big ass pimp. There is no way I should be able to pick the best offensive lineman in the entire league this late. Nick Mangold is the entire package. He is fantastic in pass protection. He is tough, rugged and mean when he is run blocking. He is intelligent. He is durable. He has allowed 8 sacks in his entire career. He is the guy who plows the middle of the field for the vaunted Jets running game. He is the guy that plays a major role in giving Mark Sanchez a clean pocket to step into. Picking a center isn’t sexy but center is the most important position on the offensive line. Now it’s going to be easier to run up the gut and Rivers is going to have a clean pocket to step up into which is far more valuable than is realized.

Shaun Philips is one of few elite players as a pass rusher. The final two years Merriman was with the Chargers, Philips was and is the best pass rusher they have. He is so versatile, he’s a top 20 3-4 LB’s and at Purdue made a name for himself at DE. 6’3" 250 lbs is good size for a DE (Trent Cole 6’3" 250lbs, DeMarcus Ware 6’4" 270lbs, 6’1" 262lbs). He can play both, which is why we selected him. He uses a variety of moves to get to the quarterback. Stacking the secondary? Yes. Bethea is a thumper who can tackle well and he’s got decent ball skills. DRC and Mr. Asomugha are the frontline against the receivers. Mr. Bethea is the clean up crew. And this is a significant change to my big board lol

David Harris, MLB, New York

The fact that David Harris fell this far blows me away. Harris will commander the defense of LCE, playing Drew Brees’ role for the defense per say. Harris is a large factor in the Jets defense, second only to Darrelle Revis (CB, New York). Not only a defensive general, he is great against the run. With a lot of pass rush specialists, Harris will be a great body but a mind as well on the field. GM anuj was surprised to have grabbed Harris, “I cannot believe it. Our #2 MLB on our board, Lawrence Timmons (MLB, Pittsburgh) went before this guy.”

We felt like it was time to start addressing our pass coverage and looked for the best young talent on the board. Joe Haden showed in his rookie year, that he is going to be a force for years to come. He had the opportunity to crumble coming in as the top rated corner, being selected 7th overall, and having questions about his character. Instead Haden responded by grabbing 6 interceptions and showing QB’s why targeting the other side of the field might be a wise idea. He is young and dangerous and will make a perfect fit for my team.

Just imagine what happens when he has Tom Brady chucking HIM the ball instead of Aaron Hernandez or Rob Gronkowski. Instant pwnage.

Aqib Talib, Cornerback

Talib is a headcase off the field. On the field, though, he is excellent. He can match up against most receivers in the league and be able to cover him well. He can be left on an island and still hold his own.

I needed someone to watch Rodgers blind side, and i got him. Roos was the best LT left on my board. Hes very underrated, he made the All-Pro team in 08 and 09. I feel comfortable with rodgers stepping back in the pocket knowing hes got his back. Just look at him…he just looks bad ass.

Charles Godfrey FS Carolina Panthers

We in the war room wipe our brow. With Safeties going left and right we were afraid of what would be left available, but here we have a diamond in the rough. With 84 tackles, 5 ints, 8 passes defended, and 1 FF this guy will fit well in our young defense.

Josh Sitton OG Greenbay Packers

Michael Vick walks into the war room with a look on his face. “What’s wrong Vick”, I ask. He shakes his head and reminds us of the beating he took last year. Oh… so we decide to use this pick to begin the process of shoring up Vick’s blindside. We plan on bringing in you talent and felt we needed some experience to even things out. This guy started on the line for the Superbowl champions and was the second rated guard on my boards.

Michael Griffin, FS

Needed a little work on the secondary, so i got the best available safety IMO. He can cover the whole field. Last year he had 108 tackles and 4 picks. So i can trust him to make a big pick and to make a big tackle. With this pick it gives me a little more confidence to send the horses on a blitz and not having to worry about getting burned. Him and McCourty should make quite a tandom.

Miles Austin, Wide Receiver

Austin has made a case for being a top ten receiver since breaking out in 2009. He had 1,320 yards in 2009 and was off to a hot start in 2010 before Tony Romo got injured. He still finish the season with 1,049 yards and 7 TD passes. Good receiver that surprisingly was still on the board.

C, Ryan Kalil

One of the best young centers in the game today, Kalil will help to give Manning that player he needs to snap the ball flawlessly and get into his blocking position immediately. Whether pass blocking or pancaking DT’s and LB’s, Kalil has all the skills of a wily vet while still being young enough to give me a decade or more at the center position.

LaRon Landry, FS, Washington.

The Liberty City Eagles get a strong fixture in their secondary. With the hard hitting presence of Landry. While stronger against the run, Landry can cover the pass. However, with the likes of Tramon Williams, Landry can be asked more to cover blitzing LBs and play against the run. GM anuj commented to the press about his latest acquisition, “LaRon is an awesome grab during this round. He is an extremely athletic safety who makes his presence felt. With him patrolling, I dare any WR to go over the middle on our defense!”

While most people remember him for the guy who fought Andre he actually is a very solid CB. Stops both run and pass and should thrive in this D.

My highest rated DE and will be rly successful with Wilfork and Clay taking some pressure off him.

Grimes has 11 INT’s, 153 tackles, and 36 pass defenses.. He started all 16 games this season and only 8 in 2009 (but played in all 16).. That’s great Production and will fit in with my young, fast, great tackling secondary…

He’ll produce in this defense. The QB is simply not safe with Wake on one end and Miller on the other.

Chris Snee, RG, New York Giants

I’m happy to get a guy I’ve graded as a top 5 OG in the NFL this late after I had Carl Nicks snatched from my finger tips. He is a good pass blocker who helps make Eli Manning one of the least sacked QBs in the NFL year in and year out. He is a tough and gritty run blocker who really opens things up for the Giants run game. He one of the best guards in the NFL and I’m happy to have him next to the best center in the league. This pick helps give Rivers a clean pocket to step up into and it helps me run the ball over the middle whenever I decide to take a RB.

Antonio Cromartie, CB, New York

Again, the Liberty City Eagles take a player from the potent New York Jets offense. This time, they grab a partner for Tramon Williams. Cromartie has seen a serious decline in his interceptions since his breakout year, however, one cannot deny that he is still a very capable corner. GM anuj comments, “To have Cromartie fall to us, we are very fortunate. With the tandem of Tramon and Antonio in our backfield, we will give QBs added pressure to go along with our potent pass rush. Defense wins championships and we are building a championship caliber defense.”

RG Jake Scott

The top Right Guard left on the board, we feel adding to our O-line an aggressive vet will be the key to letting Manning dominate the rest of these other teams. Scott has added value as he has previously worked with Manning and thus knows his tendencies. This will help as the key veteran can guide the rest of the O-line. Young enough to give me several more years, this mean son of a bitch will help keep pesky DT’s and LB’s off of Manning.

Jonathon Vilma, WLB

I strongly believe that Terrell Suggs can become the perfect blitzing SLB because of how strong he was in the run. He can also double as a DE. On the other side, another monster of a linebacker to man the weakside for his awesome tackling and above average coverage skills is Jonathon Vilma.

Overlooked on an otherwise weak Saints defense, put Vilma behind a strong defensive front and watch him shine. A vocal and powerful leader, just what this defense needs.

Tony Romo, Quarterback

Why is this guy still on the board? Dude is a top-10 QB in the league and he’s here in the 10th/11th round? Of course he’s getting picked up.

Somehow, some way, my #5 rated tackle is still currently available, so I’ll take him with open arms.

I could’ve gone with WR, but this pick moves Jake Long to the right side. With Doug Free and Jake Long as my bookends, Tom Brady will have so much time that he can take whatever crappy WR he wants and make them into a superstar.

Free was PFF’s top rated run blocking tackle and “more than held his own” in pass coverage. Add to the fact that he doesn’t have much tread on the tires at only 27 years of age, and he and Long will dominate the league for years to come.

Taking Finley gives Manning an elite TE to throw to which we all know he loves to do. Finley is young and had a monster second season, signifying his arrival to the rest of the NFL. He was derailed by injury last year, but it was early and he will be fully recovered by the time preseason starts. At 24, Finley has not even begun to scratch the surface of what he can do and will be a constant offensive threat for many years to come.

Santonio Holmes, WR, New York

Finally turning back to look at their offense, the Liberty City Eagles get one of the most dangerous wideouts in the game. Santonio Holmes is a do it all WR and a clear cut #1. GM anuj was excited to talk about his new addition, “Drew just called me to express his excitement. Santonio brings a new look to our offense. He is able to stretch the field and make those difficult catches. People remember him by that hairline catch during the Super Bowl. These are the kinds of plays that Santonio is able to pull off and with Drew Brees throwing to him, the Liberty City Eagles are going to light up the field.”

Percy Harvin, WR/KR, Minnesota Vikings

I’m thrilled to get Harvin here. I’ve got two great receivers on the outside but I needed a slot receiver and Harvin is a fantastic slot receiver. Harvin is built like a running back, has game changing speed and is one of the best after the catch receivers in the entire NFL. Plus he is one of the most dynamic kick returners in the NFL which is just an added boost. With the addition of Harvin I now have an extremely explosive set of receivers who each have different skill sets that compliment each other perfectly.

I’m literally pissing pure joy since Abraham dropped to me, my bladder is a happy factory right now… Anyway Abraham had 13 sacks in 2010, he’s a top DE in the NFL.. He’ll be playing with Fat Al and Tony Brown..

Wow, how did he fall to me. We decided to wait on offense and landed a top QB and 2 all pro WRs. I am really happy.

Sean SMith CB Miami

This is beyond me. How’d the hell did Lance Briggs, top five WILL linebackers fall to me? He’s a huge hitter with coverage skills of a free safety. Over 800 tackles? Insane. GM Number5’s comments "We were really shocked. We forgot about him as well and as we were updating our board thru madden, we were overwhelmed. He jumped to the top of our board. He’s a force to be reckoned with and is arguably a top 10 LB. Definitely top tier. We think he can be veritable enough for our scheme because of his athleticism."

His hitting ability is as good as his coverage skills. He is a young safety that has a nose for the ball and knocks you on your butt. Better watch out when you go over the middle. Expect our run defense to be top tier. Comments from Number5: "We are thrilled he is the top rated safety on our board for a while now. He is fast, smart, young and explosive. He adds real threat to passers. He is a really good addition since we weren’t able to snatch a top tier CB. Over the past two years he’s had 102 tackles, 15 PD, and 8 INTS’s. Solid numbers from an up and coming safety."

He is a great constilation prize. He excels at both RT and RG giving me position flexibility which is a huge plus. PFF had him as a top 5 T in 2010 and should play well with the nucleus of Gross and Nicks already established. Also, only 26 and has a bright future ahead of him.

Champ Bailey, CB, Denver Broncos

How I am able to get this guy this late is truly astounding to me. I know everyone is parading around saying "OMG, whadda STEaL, I’M PWNING YOU!" but honestly, how did this guy fall THIS far? He is the best corner of our generation. Sure he is aging but he still put up great numbers last season as a cover corner and he is one of the best, if not the premier run supporting corner in the game. Now I’ve got the young stud in Vontae Davis and the wily, veteran stud in Champ Bailey.
