Kolb Won't Be Heading to the Browns
Just in case there was any doubt that the Browns were out of the Kevin Kolb race, the Cleveland Plain Dealer has reported that a deal between the two teams won't be happening. So much for Tom Heckert offering up those two first round picks.

Could be
But the Cardinals are so far out in front in this race, it’s not even funny.

Did you see the article on CBS yesterday that claimed there was “chatter” that a deal was “already in place” that consisted of Kolb for Peterson AND a 2012 2nd rounder?
Peterson AND a 2012 2nd rounder? I would love to know how much weed this guy smoked before he put that out there. I love the Eagles and hold Kolb in high regard, and even I would have trouble arguing that Kolb would bring back that kind of haul.
You can’t even trade Peterson until he’s signed. And to sign him you have to pay a signing bonus. You really think that cheap ass team would do something like this then also sign Kolb to an extension? It doesn’t even remotely make sense.
Pretty sure the Eagles could include cash in the deal to the Cardinals which would pay for the singing bonus.

Not off the top of my head but I am pretty sure I have seen cash considerations as part of a trade, usually to match up salaries.

Actually, when Gruden went from the Raiders to the Bucs, the Bucs sent money to the Raiders as part of the trade. Gruden was under contract for one more year with the Raiders I believe at the time of the trade. So it can happen. At least, under that CBA, who knows what the case will be going forward.

Just to be clear, this is not my opinion, I was referencing an article I read.
Regardless of all other issues, I don’t think AZ would trade Peterson straight up for Kolb.
Been saying the Browns should stick with McCoy and help him out instead of trading for Kolb. Good for the Browns.
Now… Cardinals, first rounder, plz.
RIP Jim Johnson, best ever.
Cam Newton: future QB bust
Maybe it is the right call to stick with the young guy they have, but Heckert couldn’t have let some rumors swirl and help his old buddies make sure the price doesn’t fall? How would it have hurt for the team to allow a “Sheldon Brown says that Kolb is an excellent leader” or a “Heckert claims Kolb pick was one of his best in Philly” story leak out over the next few weeks?
The Clevelan Plain Dealer
knows as much as any of the Philly reporters or papers. Unless its a direct quote from the FO I don’t even listen.

Not that you can really take what the FO says for anything but yeah I agree with you in principal.

I believe the Plain-Dealer is a reputable source ...
… but I agree with you guys in principle in that nothing we hear now means jack. You can say you’re not trading for a guy and then trade for him with no consequences.

So it says a deal between the 2 teams wont be happening…..
Must be a 3 team trade.
I still see the Browns almost as likely as the Cards. I think that they placed themselves firmly in control over this situation. They want kolb? They get him. With the arsenol they have, no one else could compete.

This is amazing.
The market for Kolb is unbelievable. It seems as if it wil set a precedent. becauser he is NOT worth what is being reportedly offerted for him. More power to ya eagles…
Just get it done already...
why would Cleveland
Want to be out of the bottom half of their division anyway?

I would like to thank my hands for being so great, for allowing me to type this post.

Never thought Cleveland...
…would give up both 1s anyway but thought the acquisition of one of them meant they had to consider using one of them if they didn’t believe in McCoy. That being said, I don’t think Kolb is a clear upgrade over McCoy so, at least from their perspective, its a smart move for them not to make.
