Mel Kiper Releases Latest NFL Mock Draft
Mel Kiper has bestowed upon his his fourth mock draft of the year and his time his hairness has went three rounds! What he hasn't done however, is change his pick for the Eagles from his previous three mocks...
Gabe Carimi, OT, Wisconsin
I have offensive tackle as the top need for a team that has to make sure they don’t take the athleticism of their starting quarterback for granted. In Carimi they get a guy who loves to run block and will sustain those blocks. But he can also take on great pass-rushers, and has shown enough that it figures he could fill in at either tackle position early, potentially starting on the right side with the goal to become a starting left tackle.
As for the other NFC East teams, he’s got the Cowboys taking USC OT Tyron Smith, Redskins taking DE J.J.Watt and the Giants grabbing Florida OG/C Mike Pouncey.
Kiper also mocked out the second and third rounds. In the second he’s got the Eagles filling another need with Utah corner Brandon Burton. In the third he’s got them selecting Ohio St. linebacker Ross Homan.

That makes too much sense
for it to be what happens.

I’d be happy if the Eagles took Carimi, so that means they will probably draft another undersized defensive end that they have rated higher than everybody else.

I really hope
that it’s this defensively wieghted.

Andy Reid has selected ONE O-lineman in the first round in 11 years here. Howard Mudd and the Colts, 0 in 12 years.
Just a reminder for people getting their hopes up for Carimi.
He’d only selected one defensive end before last year right?

there are only 2 DEs while there are 5 OL.
I happen to agree with Route36 here.

I should probably state it is more on Mudds track record than Reid.

I find it somewhat hard to believe that Howard Mudd dictated the draft strategy of the Colts.

no, but he is successful without 1st round lineman. Also, I am SURE he scouted guys.

So...
Are you telling me that kiper didn’t like branden Harris in first rd?

If I had to choose...
I would rather see Kiper’s mock become reality.
Let the beasting begin.
Biggest question is
If there is no free agency before the draft, we have to upgrade at corner. But are we really going to start the #3 or #4 corner in week 1 over Hanson, DP or Lindley? We prolly sign someone at CB even if its not Nnamdi. Still a possibility that we trade down to get a stud CB like Prince or.. wait we can’t trade because everyone is greedy.

Kipers a tool
Everone one knows the Eagles dont take people for need. They take the best guy on the board. For once I would love to see a draft analyst say. The Eagles are gonna take the best guy available here and go with" ……………….." Add name. I know its not even close to fool proof. But at least I can deal with that.
