Top Ten Best Eagles Draft Picks - #3 Trent Cole
We've finally reached our top three best draft picks of the Andy Reid era and judging by the comments, it seems that this is the one people have had some trouble guessing.
Trent Cole - 2005 - 5th round
In some ways, it's easy to forget that Trent Cole was a 5th round pick because he played so quickly and started to contribute right away. Now after six years with the Eagles, he's amassed 57 sacks.
He was the 9th defensive end taken in the 2005 draft while guys like Erasmus James, Matt Roth & Dan Cody were first and second round picks. Two of those guys are out of football.

I wonder why Cole dropped to the 5th?
He did score a 14 on his Wonderlic…

how’s he not no. 2 to Mcnabb….Westy’s gonna be 2 and he was a third rounder…unless you want to put westbrook over mcnabb….idk i can see an argument from both sides he’s either 3 or higher…i digress…
"Eagles fans are a passionate group who love their team," said McNabb, "if not the actual players. It's not like winning a Super Bowl before the first month of the season is the hardest thing they've ever asked of me. That'd be all those times they asked me to go kill myself."

I've always loved Trent.
A few years ago, my dad went out to a sports bar for the Super Bowl with his brothers, back when Trent was just in his first few years. Somehow, he won a Trent Cole signed football. And of course, after he and my uncles had had a few drinks, they decided they should all sign it, sign it in the name of deceased football greats(Reggie White RIP), as well as pass it around to the other eaters to sign. I was so close to getting the autograph, Damn.
Fastball
Trent Cole was the ultimate mid-round “fastball off the edge” that Andy is always trying to find in the mid rounds. It worked for him once.

Did I miss something
There are 2 spots left for McNabb, Dawkins and Westbrook? Is that the case or has there been a screw up?
FLY #7 FLY !!!
Dawkins wasn't an Andy Reid Pick
He was drafted in 1996 & Andy Reid became head coach in 1999, when McNabb was drafted.
Really the best 2 non-Reid picks from the late 90’s were Dawkins & Tra Thomas

Westbrook better be #1
McNabb, for all his faults, was maybe the best QB in franchise history. But without BWest, that offense didn’t move.

Mcnugget will be #1.
All due respect to Westy, but 5’s arm won us more games than Westy did with his legs. Nobody ran the HB screen better then Westbrook. Poetry in motion.

It was beautiful to watch Westbrook on a screen. Other teams knew it was coming, and couldn’t do a damn thing about it.
