what could we get if we traded back?
What kind of picks do you think we could get if we traded back out of the first round of this years draft? I was hoping we could trade out and get a first round pick for next year plus something like a third round pick this year? Maybe if say Cincinnati wants to move back into the first round we could get a first round pick for next year and there 2nd pick in the third round 66. Would this be realistic or do you think we could get even more or less for it?
I feel that there are some good players who will fall to that late second early third round that could come in and compete to help out right away. Players like Marvin Austin, Davon House, Ras-I Dowling, Brandon Burton, Rodney Hudson, Marcus Cannon, Clint Boling, Ben Ijalana, Bruce Carter, Mason Foster, just to name a few.
This will leave us with two picks in the first round of 2012 with hopefully a third to come if we trade away Kevin Kolb. With three picks in the first round of next years draft we will be set to do whatever we pretty much want. In my opinion its go get Andrew Luck and groom him under Vick for the next two years.
Let me know what you think or if you have any kind of ideas what this pick might be worth?

Do you like this story?

i think i would rather have a teams 2nd round pick this year then some other lower rounds picks. this team is only missing a few peices and if you trade back to the 3rd round we might miss the chance of grabbing a player that can contribute right away and instead draft a player that needs grooming before he can contribute.
Why do people always
want to trade back and take guys that are a bigger risk in later rounds? I understand doing this when you are rebuilding or the player/players you want are gone by your pick but whatever happened to picking a good player when #23 come up?
Cowboys suck.
No I agree I usually hate trading back but if the 4 OT’s are off the board or Pouncey is off I just don’t like anything we could get at 23. Jimmy Smith scares me to much not just about the character concerns but more that his athleticism doesn’t always show up on the field and he seems to take plays off sometimes. If he can get his act together he could be a great shutdown corner but he is too great a risk for me.
In the late second early third is where I see most of the really good guards of this draft coming off the board. Ones that could come in right away and start. Also that’s where I see the linebackers coming off the board that could come in and compete for a starting spot.
Washburns wide nine technique puts more pressure on the linebackers so we better have some that can shed and tackle and are athletic enough to run with the tight end. I like Chaney and Fokou but i just don’t know if they are anything more than average talent at linebacker. Also Bradley has played well when healthy but he hasn’t been healthy for quite some time now and he might be lost to free agency depending on the new CBA.
I think our DT’s are the most solid part of our defense and I really want to see what Washburn can do with the DE’s we already have here especially Sapp. I think he is a player and will flourish under Washburn.

Athleticism? Jimmy Smith?
He allowed 2 receptions in man coverage over the last 2 seasons. That’s locking down every “athletic” wr that tested him. That’s insane numbers. How can you possible question his athleticism?

your stats are wrong. According to statistics compiled by the University of Colorado, He allowed just 11 completions in man coverage over his junior and senior seasons. That’s still very good mind you but I’m not talking just about stats. First off because that’s not the whole story. I know in 2010 he was only targeted 20 times total. I don’t know what his 2009 total targets where but if they were about the same that’s around 25 percent completion rate but only counting the press man coverage completions. Don’t get me wrong those are good numbers but I’m still talking more about watching his films. He seems to take plays off. In the Mizzou game in ‘09 he seemed to get blocked very easy. Also his play making ability doesn’t show up in the numbers. He only had three total career interceptions with none last year. With his triangle numbers I just think there should be more big plays that aren’t always on tape.
if the eagles did move back and traded kolb for a 1st rounder
then they would potentially have 3 first round picks next year
I've been waiting my whole life for an Eagles Championship
R2C2!
RIP JJ
The broncos gave up a same draft 2,3,4 for the 25th pick last year
We need something at least this valuable, and if there are more than one team bidding on this pick I think we can get at least what the broncos got and maybe instead a 2 this year and a 1 next year.
I think Carolina gave us a 2, a 4, and the next year's 1 for pick 19 in 2008.
I’d be all for that this year.
"What a gorgeous dog. What do you feed him?"
This isn't the right value
A future one has the same value as a mid-second round pick. It would start being worth it for a future one if the Eagles got a Mid Second, not a third. I don’t think they will go for future picks right off the bat though. I think they trade the 1 for a 2 and 3 from (Buffalo or Cinci). Then trade one of the 3’s for a 2 next year.

what about a one next year and a two this year if your saying next years one is worth a mid round two grade. I was just going off the points system they had on the value chart. Our pick is worth a 760. The last pick in the first round is worth a 590 which is a would assume they thought next years pick would be worth leaving 170 which is a mid three left.
But if you are saying that a next year first is more worth a mid round second than which is around a 420 than there should be 340 left over which is a mid to late second round pick this year. By this logic we could get a one next year and a two this year. Then we could trade Kolb for a one next year and possibly a three or maybe more like a conditional two.
That would set us up with still a pretty solid pick for this year and three ones next and two three’s. Plus from what I hear next years draft is much deeper.
