Q is the MAN!

Stick it to that prick Roger Goodell, Quintin.  I've got your back!

Star-divide

When asked about the NFL draft In a recent interview with Tim McManus, Quintin Mikell said "I'm going to find something better to do with my time."  He then went on to explain how Roger Goodell's bullshit way of life is going to tell draftees "Welcome to the NFL.  You have no job."  I wish more players would do what Q is doing and that fans would join Q in this crusade against the corrupt and disingenuous NFL powers-that-be.  Roger Goodell's idiotic insistence on an 18 game schedule and his cruel disregard for the lives and welfare of former NFL players are reasons enough why this asshole should not keep his job, and if enough fans tune out of Roger's sham of a 2011 draft, perhaps that will send a message to the owners that this piece of shit needs to be flushed.  It is starting to smell.

“Welcome to the NFL. You have no job.”

That’s the most retarded part……

And if ti wasnt for the fact that we’ve been waiting (for it seems like forever) for SOME kind of football action, Id say they should boycott the draft …

You don't really...

…expect fans to boycott the draft, do you? It’s the only “football” we can actually look forward to! That would be like asking an inmate to pass up a stripper…since it isn’t the same has having sex.

what just happened here? First it is not just goodell and the owners it is the players also, the owners have always been like this that is why they are rich and the owners of NFL teams. The players are just realizing this and someone is telling them you should go broke instead of play and make them worry,, REPLACEMENTS on the way,, try the owners and everyone shall see,, They have to much money to worry about this and they make money regardless of what is going on,, everyone just needs to meet in the middle and let the season start

I still don’t get all the bitching about an 18 game schedule. If they take out 2 preseason games and put in 2 regular season games, I’d be fine with it. The players get an extra 2 game checks and we get more interesting football. Teams could just limit practices those 2 weeks if they feel that its so life threatening.

Limiting Practice...

…doesn’t do anything to lower the injury risk associated with adding two games of football. And taking two preseason games away would probably RAISE the risk of injury involved, especially muscle sprains, pulls, and tears as the player’s bodies won’t be in the same physical condition they would be in with the extra work.

Besides, the argument against losing two preseason games is not just about injuries. That also lessens the chances of making the team for a lot of low picks and undrafted rookies. Imagine our Eagles without Coleman and Chaney this year. Distinct possibility that they don’t make the team with only 2 preseason games. Or, you could imagine the Texans without the league’s leading rusher…as I doubt an undrafted free agent would’ve been able to impress enough to warrant the start.

If there is an 18 game season...

They would have to expand rosters. This actually gives those type of players a better chance of making a team. I see injuries as a random thing that could happen anytime. Remember we’ve lost players during that Lurie Dog and Pony show called Flight Night.

I'm not drunk I'm just drinking.

Remember...

…this is a negotiation. They don’t HAVE to do anything. The players and the owners have their things that they want knowing that they all come with a price tag. And they will pick and choose which ones to lobby for based on how much it “costs” them in return.

As for the expanded rosters, even if that is true (which is likely), it still has the same effect. Those players may very well be on the active roster if expanded, but don’t expect them to see the field because the coaches have not had enough non-crucial time to evaluate their play. It’s one thing to stick them out there in a preseason game and see how they do…but when wins and losses mean the difference between playoffs or not, you will see coaches not willing to take the risk.

I'm really beginning to think you're confused EB

You keep on talking about how the owners are trying to fuck over all the retired players. The retired players really got into it with the current players over the money the league is trying to give to them in this new deal, and were happy with what the owners presented in thier last offer. In other words the owners are trying to give the ex-nfl players more and the current players want to keep more and give the retirees less. It’s a fucking moronic move since it should set president for future deals, in which the NFL could forseeably grow and the current players will be retired players in the future, thus netting them more at that point, but they didn’t get into the NFL by being good at economics.

That's kind of a leap.

It may be that the retirees don’t want to wait for their money.

AR should have to wear a Flava Flav necklace until he learns how to manage a fucking clock.

by KByars on Apr 21, 2011 1:02 AM EDT up reply actions

That isn't the case at all...

…and tells me that you are buying what the league is selling. It is NOT that the players are trying to “give the retirees less.” The NFLPA contends that BOTH could be done. The owners want to give the retirees money from a pool that also contributes to current player salaries…meaning raising one by lowering another. The players contend that the owners, as the employers, should be responsible for the increase…meaning you don’t need to lower one to raise the other.

The pool would mostly come from the savings from a rookie wage scale

Which is completely justifiable. And the money has to come out of someone’s pockets. Whether it’s the players or the owners is a big part of that. TO blame the whole thing on the owners (constantly and in posts that have nothing to do with it), I just felt that some perspective needs to brought to that point of view.
