With the forty-eighth pick in the 2011 BGN Mock Draft, sports00fan00 selects...
Stefen Wisniewski - OG/C, Penn State
Ah the Oakland Raiders. What can be said about the Raiders except Al Davis? Hate him, loathe him, ‘accidentally' kill him during a zombie apocalypse because you can't tell what he is... Anyway, Al Davis likes to be the boss in the draft room. He really has a knack for drafting raw athleticism, whether its speed or strength. I'm sure I don't have to go into detail.
After trading away their 1st round selection in 2009 to the Patriots in a deal for Richard Seymour, their first pick in the 2011 draft comes in the 2nd round. The Raiders top needs for this offseason are quarterback, offensive tackle, offensive guard, and cornerback, since they will possibly lose Nnamdi Asomugha to free agency. They have a decent quarterback in Jason Campbell, who they acquired in a trade with the Redskins after the Redskins had acquired Donovan McNabb. However, since a quarterback needs a good offensive line, it makes more sense to address that need first.
More after the jump...
In January, the Raiders added their former offensive lineman, and 8 time pro-bowler, Steve Wisniewski, who coached at Stanford under Jim Harbaugh, to their coaching staff as an assistant offensive line coach. Wisniewski's nephew, Stefen Wisniewski is a Penn State product projected to be a high second-round pick. Wisniewski can play guard and center and Oakland could use help at both spots. He's a 4.0 student whose biggest strengths include his tenacity and motor. He fits perfectly into this spot at No. 48 for the Raiders... which is why this probably won't happen.
Next on the clock will be number5 with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
