The Eagles' 5 best moments of 2010, in video

Last week, we masochistically did the Eagles' 5 worst moments of 2010.  Today, we do the 5 best.  Let's just get right to it:

5) Shady seals the win over the Giants - Michael Vick bobbled the snap, barely got the pitch to LeSean McCoy, Osi Umenyiora juuuuuust missed swatting the ball away, and Shady did the rest to make it 5 in a row over the Giants.

Star-divide

4) Kolb *almost* flawless against the Falcons - With Michael Vick and Jason Peters out, Kolb put up a line of 23/29 for 326 yards, 3 TD, and a pick in a comfortable 31-17 win over the Falcons. Kolb was named the NFL Player of the Week:

3) The Nestea plunge - After going 0-3 against Dallas in 2009, including two utterly gross Eagles performances against the Cowboys to close out the season, it was great to get one in the win column against them. The most memorable play was of course DeSean Jackson's 91 yard TD catch and run on a gimpy ankle, punctuated by Jackson doing the Nestea plunge into the end zone as the Cowboys defense watched:

2A) Eat it, Landry - LaRon Landry and DeAngelo Hall tried to intimidate DeSean Jackson pre-game.  Bad idea.  The first play of the game Jackson ran right past both Landry and Hall in route to an 88 yard TD:

2B) Madden on rookie level shellacking - Unfortunately for the Redskins, that above play was only the beginning of a "Madden on rookie level" style shellacking, which saw the Eagles put their 59th point on the board with more than 5 minutes left in the 3rd quarter due to the out-of-body type performance by Michael Vick.  As embarrassing as this game was for DC, it's scary to think that it could have actually been a lot worse:

1) We already know what #1 is:

Crazy to think that would’ve been his 11th forced fumble of the season.

I would like to thank my hands for being so great, for allowing me to type this post.

oh, and I still have a great wallpaper on my desktop, a picture of DeSean running backwards in for the touchdown, and Landry laying on the grass just looking at him.

I would like to thank my hands for being so great, for allowing me to type this post.

I giggled like a school girl.

I love seeing safeties, especially somebody like Landry who really should know better, when they think they’ve got an angle and a enough cushion to cover Jackson. Then DeSean hits another gear and disappears into the ether.

If anyone wants to question Peters’ motivation anymore, watch the end of the video where he’s sprinting towards the endzone well after his part of it all was more than finished.

Watch him on the Jerome Harrison run in the Skins game, too. Physical domination.

Single-handedly created that cutback lane by blowing his man off the line and caught the LBs in traffic.

Speaking of Harrison...

It’d be great to re-sign him as insurance for Shady.

by NowWhat? on Apr 18, 2011 10:26 AM EDT up reply actions

He wants to start somewhere, and definately not be in an offense that barely features RB1. I think he’s gone.

I would like to thank my hands for being so great, for allowing me to type this post.

by corn on the kolb on Apr 18, 2011 10:30 AM EDT up reply actions

Currently, he’s a restricted free agent. If Judge Nelson sides in favor of the players and bars a lockout, he’ll still be a RFA, and the Eagles can retain him cheaply whether he likes it or not. If however, some sort of new CBA gets worked out and Harrison becomes unrestricted, I agree, he’s probably gone.

by JimmyK on Apr 18, 2011 10:36 AM EDT up reply actions

Being an RFA, that means they can basically name their price for a team to trade for him, correct? Like, restrict him at a 2nd round pick?

I would like to thank my hands for being so great, for allowing me to type this post.

by corn on the kolb on Apr 18, 2011 10:44 AM EDT up reply actions

Sort of. The Eagles placed a second round tender on him, so if another team successfully signed him away from the Eagles, they’d have to fork over their second round pick. Not sure how that will all work with free agency occurring after the draft this year.

by JimmyK on Apr 18, 2011 10:53 AM EDT up reply actions

Yeah but the higher tender you put on him, the more you have to pay him.

You only think were front runners because our team is winning.

Gotta love the Redskin fan mouthing “he was out of bounds” after they got down 28-0. Hey, kid, there are probably better things to gripe about at that point.

by outsyderz34 on Apr 18, 2011 9:57 AM EDT reply actions

2B = Sick

15 Min 9 Seconds of game time (so less of actual possession time)… Eagles have 35 Points. And the wealth was spread, 5 different people crossed the endzone, even more crossed later.. 8 TDs & 1 FG, Akers must have been walking on jello legs for the entire next week..

I agree with the list although I would of probably done a 1b & added the whole 4th quarter comeback against the Giants

amazing stuff.
i still can’t believe they tried to pass 3 times on that last series.
as much as they want to blame individual players for any part of this loss, had they run the ball ONCE on any of those 3 downs, there would never have been time for a punt at all.
then again, theres not one person you can point the finger at when a team overcomes a 21 pt deficit. except maybe the HC…

just. wow..

Still get all geeked when I see Avant jacking up DeOssie on that Jackson punt return. Man he layed DeOssie out!

I think Collinsworth...

Needs to figure out the how much an inch is, because number 5 definitely seemed closer to an inch than number 3 did.

It was perfect…..

  1. was the best game ever. EVER.

As soon as I saw Jason Avant lay that block I started jumping up and down and screaming “YES! HE DID IT! HE DID IT! I CAN’T BELIEVE IT!” I was just a few inches away from hitting my head on the ceiling I was jumping so high. I was beside myself. For about a half hour afterward I was just muttering to myself “Did that really just happen?”

Best. Game. Ever.

I didn't get to see the first 57 minutes due to living in DC during a Skins game

I had a Giants fan come over and the look on his face was priceless after the Desean return.

Its a good list and all but Asante’s game winning interception against the Colts has to be up there somewhere. The game was getting so intense and after he picked it off I screamed at the top of my freaking lungs.

That first TD of the 2nd half in the Redskins blowout is still the play that pisses off my Redskins fan friends to no end. Haynesworth gets knocked to the ground by Herremans and… just gives up and stays on the ground. Herremans comes off of Haynesworth and gets another key block to spring the TD.

Never argue with an idiot. They'll bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

Quote of the night

I can’t remember which announcer said it during the Skins game, but one of the announcers made this observation, “The Redskins have a lot more pride than most people would think right now.”
