With the forty-third pick in the 2011 BGN Mock Draft, wild_eagle selects...
Ryan Mallett - QB, Arkansas
The Vikings need a QB. They have the pieces in place on the offensive and defensive side of the ball, but they are missing a quarterback. Mallet has the arm to make them a vertical threat, which with Sidney Rice (If he re-signs), Julio Jones (drafted earlier in this mock) and Percy Harvin will give the Vikings all of the weapons they need.
The team also needs some offensive line help, so I was really looking at taking Rodney Hudson right here, but Mallet at this point is too good to pass up. His off-the-field concerns will still be valid here, but with a team this desperate for a QB, and with the tools in place to help him succeed, why not draft the best chance at a franchise quarterback they'll have in 2011?
Next on the clock will be DirtyWaters with the Detroit Lions.
