The Linc - No First Round Corner For The Eagles?
Eagles needs: CB would help, but OL always wanted - NFL - CBSSports.com - NFLDraftScout.com
Falling short to the champ Packers in the playoffs left some carping at mainstay coach Andy Reid. Still trying to understand that, Clark Judge says Philly needs O-line and CB help in the draft, and some perspective.
Eagles Drafting 1st Round Cornerback is Unlikely — McNabb or Kolb | Philadelphia Eagles Blog
A lot of reporters and fans have been putting together their mock drafts for the upcoming NFL draft, and many guesses converge on the Eagles taking a cornerback with their first round pick. That’s a scenario I don’t actually find likely, based on recent precedent.

NFL receivers' speed matters less than skill - NFL News | FOX Sports on MSN
As teams invariably reach for a speedy Ted Ginn or Darrius Heyward-Bey in the NFL draft, those with wider skills, such as Wes Welker or Marques Colston, produce year after year. NFL receivers speed matters less than skill

That article about speed vs. possession receivers is terrible. I obviously agree that possession receivers are important and that speed is not everything (see Heyward-Bey). However, it is a glaring omission to leave out receivers like DJax and Wallace. Yes, sometimes they are taken out of games, but I feel like that has a lot to do with playcalling. DJax absolutely kills teams on speed—even if he doesn’t have a catch his speed changes the game.
As I stated in my mock for the Eagles, in Mudd’s tenure with the Colts, they never selected an O-lineman in the first round. The Eagles haven’t taken an o-lineman in the first round since Shawn Andrews in 2004. This draft is deep in O-lineman and I’ll be surprised if they take one in the 1st this year.
they were gunna draft a T pretty high
I think It was Michael Oher? But then they traded for Jason Peters, I remember he was working out and they were like oh we’re gunna draft you, but then they told him they wudnt cuz they just got Peters

if not OL, then what?
it doesnt seem likely that a top tier CB will fall to us.
I doubt we are going to use our 1st on a S or LB.
DL? with Graham’s injury, DE is a possibility, but i just don’t see us going back to back 1st rounders on DE.
do we need more youth at DT? i think we are ok, maybe a later round pick for some depth…
i’m actually excited to see what our DL can do this year with a decent DL coach…
i’m happy with most of our offense (OL aside). i dont think theres any position worth a 1st rd pick there…
I honestly believe that we go OL, or we trade up for a CB, or we trade down and pick up more picks and get an OL early 2nd/very late 1st.

That's what I was thinking.
There is a significant drop from the top two corners to Smith and Harris, then the available CBs just fall off a cliff. They may have to trade up in the second round for an OT, but I think that’s a better strategy than going after a 3rd tier CB.

Maybe the reason why we haven’t drafted a CB in the first round in a while is because we haven’t had a need at CB forever. It looks like I’m in the minority now but I still think there’s a good possibilty that we draft Jimmy Smith & we obviously haven’t taken him off our draft board if he came in for a visit yesterday
if they dont draft a cb in the early rounds
we will have another horrible year on defense ….. fact
i hope that happens as much as the next eagles fan

That list you have just provided me with is a list over the past ten years and if you haven’t noticed the majority are gone because the organization did not want to pay the rest of the deal……. I do like the fact that u have provided me with all those exact numbers because kearse and hansons deals are absolutely naeusiating
