Foreshadowing in Cincy?

Back on February 21st of this year, something strange happened. James Urban, our Eagles former quarterback coach and was slated to be our Assistant Offensive Cordinator but he took a job for the worst NFL Franchise- the Cincinnati Bengals- to be their wide recievers coach and to help install the West Coast Offense under Jay(not Jon) Gruden. This move was viewed by most sportswriters and experts not as a promotion, but more as a lateral move(at best). More after the jump

So why would he leave one of the most well run NFL franchises to go work for one of the worst? It's like being a Assistant Chef at a fine dinning restaraunt and then taking a "promotion" to work the fries at McDonalds. Why? Kevin Kolb. That's why. I believe the Bengals are very interested in acquiring Kevin Kolb's services at QB now that Carson Palmer is threatening to retire from football rather than play for the Bengals. Kolb already has starting experience for maybe the best West Coast Offense in the NFL, so he would make sense in Cincy. The Bengals need a quarterback and most experts don't believe any prospect in this year's draft is a sure franchise quarterback and most don't think any rookie QB will be ready to start in September. With this whole CBA mess, teams can't trade but they could let a assistant coach go to another team to help make a certain players transition to another team a little easier.

With all that being said, what are we getting out of this deal? Well, with our brilliant front offiice and the Bengals iffy owner Mike Brown, I see nothing short of their first round deal and maybe we swap picks later in the draft. I see us still holding onto our #23 pick while also gettting the Bengals #4 pick. So the only question remains, who should we draft?

This is the fun part of this post/pipe dream/conspiracy theory. We need a corner opposite of Asante and there is no doubt in my mind that either Patrick Peterson of LSU or Prince Amukamara or Nebrasksa will be available if not both studs. We could use a DE and Da'Quan Bowers could also be available. Maybe we want a DT, well Nick Fairley and/or Marcell Darues will be available. Maybe our offense gets greedy, AJ Green or Julio Jones will be here as well(why not). And just for Wild_Eagle, Cam Newton could be here too.

Now here comes the really insane scenario/dream. What if we are able to sign Nnamdi Asomugha before the draft assuming that would be allowed by the NFL? We could have Bowers/Fairley/Green/Newton/18 7th round picks, along with Nnamdi and our 23rd pick(more then likely a OT/G/Wilkerson). My vote would be Bowers at #4 and any lineman at #23(Mudd will turn any of them into a stud).

We have the tools(cap space, trade bait) to make this off-season really special and really help elevate this team from playoff-caliber to elite Superbowl contender.
