March is officially here, but our madness is already well underway as we continue to move through the first round of our greatest football movie tournament. In the last matchup, Remember the Titans easily beat Air Bud: Golden Reciever. This time, we've got a #4 vs #5 seed.
The #4 seed is "The Express" which is yet another uplifting true story (as many of these are). This one is based on the life of Ernie Davis, who is the first African-American to win the Heisman Trophy.
Varsity Blues is a #5 seed which tells the story of a Texas high school football team. James Vanderbeek plays the backup QB of the team who is forced to play after the starter is injured. Problem is, the backup doesn't really want to play football anymore. Debauchery, whipped cream bikinis, stripper teachers, Jon Voigt yelling & inspiration follows... It also features Vanderbeek's amazing southern accent.
