For all you saying "we need to (do this or that) and then we'll be a super bowl team" I'm here to say our team was good enough. And not only was our team good enough to win the superbowl this past year, it was good enough to win maybe 3 or 4 times in the past decade. We can add more players, better players; that guy from Oakland everyone wants and better guys that push guys away from the guy that throws the ball--but the FO has done a pretty good job of making moves every offseason for the past decade and yet a superbowl has yet to be won.
We had a great chance at beating Green Bay this year, and the road would've been easier after that. Two seasons ago we were good enough to be Arizona, and then Pittsburgh. In 2002 and 2004 we were more talented than Tampa Bay and New England.
So, I'm not here to bash all of us who, at the end of every season, say "what does this team need to become super?" and then make their wish lists of the FAs they want and the guys they want drafted. I'm just saying that's not the key. That's not what this team is missing. I think getting great players and upgrading this roster would be great, but once again we've been there done that and still a superbowl eludes us.
So what is it? What is this team missing? Has it just been bad luck? Coaching/scheming? The players just not executing in the big games? Why can't we win it all?
I think something has got to change, and its not just getting better players. We have new coordinators on D, maybe that will make the difference. Maybe we need a new coach, but I kind of like the one we've got. Maybe its the fans. Maybe its me.
So I just said a lot of nothing. I know. Let me hear about it.
