Although I've been following this site for a while, this is my first post so please be gentle. No one has really addressed how to feel about these last 4 games given the results of Sunday's games so I figured I would take it upon myself to get the general feeling of everyone.
The first way of looking at things is to say that the season is over for the eagles and we should tank the rest of the season to get a better draft position and possibly a coaching change. That's easy and understandable considering how the season has gone so far. It would be hard to get our hopes up about any of the last 4 games. But then again I have a very hard time rooting for the eagles to fail, especially when 2 of the last 4 games are against Dallas and Washington.
Another way of looking at things after this past week is that the eagles still have a chance to make the playoffs. Should we be rooting for that instead? Granted, it does seem a little far fetched, but given the inconsistent play of both the cowboys and the giants it isn't inconceivable for the eagles to still make it. If the eagles win out, they would make the playoffs with dallas dropping 3 of its last 4 and the giants dropping 2 of its last 4.
If giants, eagles and cowboys all finish at 8-8 then the eagles make the playoffs through tie-breakers. It sounds crazy but this has been a crazy year in the NFL; and it's December, that means the spotty play of the giants and cowboys becomes more profound.
So what do we hope for? Everyone to finish 8-8 and hope the eagles that played the cowboys earlier this year show up for the playoffs (and use that same defensive consultant). Or the eagles lose out and get a top pick.
