My 2012 dream-team mock draft

First of all, assuming we fall into 6th to 12th spot in the draft. This is how I wish it would go down. Luck is gone to Indy already. ( This is what I want to hear) With the 2nd pick in the draft the St. Louis Rams pick..........wait a minute......OMG the St. Louis Rams have traded their 2nd pick to the Philadelphia Eagles for Desean Jackson and/or Asante Samuel/ Insert player. The Eagles pick RG3 ( pandemonium erupts in Radio City Music Hall).

The Eagles chose Vontaze Burfict from Arizona State with the 11th pick in the 1st round. Overheard in the back are boos coming from the Eagles section. We know that most fans where hoping to get Luke Kuechly/ Manti te'o with the pick.

In another stunning move the Philadelphia Eagles trade Brent Celek to seattle for a 2nd round pick.

2nd round pick (via Seattle) the Eagles pick Janoris Jenkins, cornerback from North Alabama.

2nd round pick (via Arizona) the Eagles take Ronnell Lewis, outside linebacker from OU.

2nd round pick the Eagles chose Strong Safety Mark Barron from the Alabama.

3rd round the Eagles take Mohamed Sanu ( Redzone threat/ Beast), wide receiver from Rutgers.

4th round the Eagles take Jarius Wright (next Desean 4.3 40), wide receiver from Arkansas.

5th round the Eagles pick Zebrie Sanders, OT from Florida State

6th round the Eagles pick J.R. Sweezy, DT from N.C State

6th round the Eagles pick Jonathan Maasaquoi, DE from Troy.

6th round the Eagles get Damian Jackson, FS from Ole MIss.

Bonus, the Eagles sign Laron Landry and Jeremichael Finley in F.A.

So what you fellas think of my 2012 Mock Draft?

Celek..

Why would the Eagles trade Celek? And to Seattle of all places…they just spent $34 million on him.

They trade him

cuz they will pick up Finley in F.A. Maybe not to Seattle but they will get a 2nd rounder for sure. I don’t think Celek and Vick click together. He’s seen more catches with Young and you have to trade him to get the most value.

You're not getting anything near a 2nd round pick for Brent Celek C'mon man

ok, the giants suck.

Namdey Asomgua sucks. We should have signed Antoneo Cromote so he could have taught his brother, cousin, son or however they are related how to play in teh slotz.I also h8 his nice guy act. I herd he blows through teh hoes faster than runningbacks thru our dfense.

Celek is a really good TE

we just don’t use him right, here. There are a few teams who would love to have him. A 2nd rounder is not a high asking price.

by ASObyNature on Dec 5, 2011 9:52 PM EST up reply actions

For Celek, yeah, it’s pretty high.

by DLawrence55 on Dec 6, 2011 10:14 AM EST up reply actions

Plus with a rookie

QB, I think Seattle will go to a 2 tightend set.

by ASObyNature on Dec 5, 2011 7:00 PM EST reply actions

They already have Zach Miller and John Carlson.

Not objecting to the idea of trading players for picks just the team that you Celek going to.

Its creative thats for sure, so we get 2 1st rounders and 3 2nd rounders?

As of right now, I don’t see Janoris Jenkins dropping to the 2nd round…nor do I see Mohamed Samu dropping to the 3rd or Zebrie Sanders dropping to the 5th…BUT, but there is always OTs that drop for whatever reason, hence Bruce Campbell 2 years ago.

What we have right now, I don’t see Reid chasing a LB with the 12th pick…I can see us trading back 10 spots, and getting the 22-25th pick in the draft and getting an additional 2nd Round pick (hopefully in this draft). That’d be good. The LBs are gonna start drifting back to the 2nd Round, and unfortunately for Safeties…this is a weak class for safeties so I hope we address this issue in FA. However, if we do draft Safety Mark Barron or TJ McDonald are the hard hitters I want!

by birdsfaninsc on Dec 5, 2011 7:05 PM EST reply actions

I've seen enough of Nate

and Colman to either address it with Barron/ McDonald and Landry in F.A. Jenkins will fall to early 2nd round for sure as well as Sanu.

by ASObyNature on Dec 5, 2011 7:08 PM EST reply actions

as far as Coleman and Nate go, I thought of this the other day

Ya know how we all complain about DRC and NA24 are man to man specialists…well, although our safeties are young…are they being utilized in their natural ability (maybe they aren’t zone guys)

by birdsfaninsc on Dec 5, 2011 7:14 PM EST up reply actions

Assuming we get a real Defensive coordinator

and the corners go back to man, we still need help at the safety position, hence Landry.

by ASObyNature on Dec 5, 2011 7:15 PM EST reply actions

We can't get everything

So what do we need the most?

LB stands out. But do we shoehorn a pick there? We have an early first and two early seconds. I’d like to see us go best defensive player available. We need play makers. Make need your tiebreaker. The exception to this is if you see a franchise QB available in the first, take him.

Go Eagles!

Anyone who takes Burfict in the 1st round needs to watch an actual Arizona State game. Dude makes a couple big plays and then hurts the team the rest of the way. He is like a LaRon Landry or a Taylor Mays. No thanks.

Burfict, Landry and Mays

are 10x better than what we have on the field right now. I can’t believe you had the audecity to even comment on my post. Other than Nmandi, we couldn’t pay a team to take any of our LB or secondary.

by ASObyNature on Dec 5, 2011 9:50 PM EST up reply actions

Landry yes

But if our safeties suck, Mays is the Bermuda Triangle. Seriously, the guy is so bad the team that drafted him didn’t even want his after 1 year and now he’s barely got a ST job with Bengals whose starting safeties maybe worse than outs.

Burfict is a bust in the making. I don’t care about the big hits (all 1 he makes a game that turns out illegal anyways) and all the screaming. You go from All American to not even making honorable mention in a division void of LBs and are benched in last few quarters of your junior year, you got problems. I’ll take the Butkus award winner and definitive leader and tackling machine over the over a retarded juggernaut who leads his conference in missed tackles and personal foul penalties.

Lol that is entirely false

“Cassey” Matthews was never described as the best LB in the country, nor was he the Butkus award winner. I’m not saying that Kuechly is going to come in and get 20 tackles a game, but he will be a hell of a lot better than Matthews, and that is an understatement.

2006 Moss got 43 catches, 553 yards, and 3 TDs in 12 games

But it was well known that he was malcontent, and that was the reason for his low numbers. He also had quite a resume before hand. Also, he was a WR that could be used to stretch the field.

That got the Raiders a 4th round pick.

2011 Celek has 45 catches, 480some yards, and 2 TDs in 12 games. He has no excuses for his poor play, especially with a competent QB at hand. He doesn’t have a 2nd round worthy resume consistently. He is also a receiving TE who is average in blocking.

No way in hell you are getting a 2nd round pick, mate. If you did, I’d be first to congratulate you and your front office, but I just don’t see anybody being THAT stupid.

DRC sucks. :) Kolb is what they thought would be a franchise QB.

QB is a MUCH higher positional value then TE. When’s the last time you saw a TE getting drafted in the top 10. I want to say the last one was Jeremy Shockey in 2004. How many QBs you see going in the top 10? Most years, there’s at least 2.

RG3, a top notch LB, and redzone threat WR? shit you have too much confidence in the FO

by manbearpig88 on Dec 6, 2011 6:24 PM EST up reply actions

Let me break down why this stuff won't happen.

Now I will preface this with I don’t watch college ball and know very little about the players you have listed however I do know something about Burfict. Burfict is not a 1st round talent. When your own college team pulls you in the game because you are playing so terribly that is not 1st round talent.
Celek nabbing us a second? Not even close. Greg Olsen who had less yardage but the same number of TD’s in 2009, was only able to get Chicago a 3rd round pick when he was traded. Tony freaking Gonazalez the best TE to ever play the game was traded for a second round pick when he moved to Atlanta. Celek is neither as good as Tony or has the ability of Greg Olsen. he is maybe a top 15 TE in this league and that does not warrant a 2nd round pick.
The Rams straight giving up their 1st rounder? They might trade back with someone but if the Rams are indeed getting a WR (Justin Blackmon) they will either stay stationary or Trade back only a few picks to ensure they get their man. DeSean Jackson while having the ability to be a dangerous threat is not a WR in the class of Blackmon so for them that trade has no real value.
Jermicahel Finley in FA? Please, you know damn well GB is gonna pay him and go for yet another run.
Other then those 4 things I can’t dispute much else because I don’t know enough about the other people but the whole post needs to be reexamined IMO.

Finley is gone for sure

and the Packers will let him go, for sure. Burfict will not drop past 18in the first round even if he got benched for the Columbine, believe that. Maybe the Rams don’t take it but I think the Jags, Bengals would take Desean and Asante or another player for their first round. Blackmon and Jeffery best 2 but Desean better than the rest. Last 2 years was perfect to get TE cuz every team was cutting/trading their stars, I think we could swindle a few teams, maybe not. Depends how we package our deals
