Michael Vick Would Like DeSean Jackson Back

ORCHARD PARK, NY - OCTOBER 09: Michael Vick #7 hands the ball to DeSean Jackson #10 of the Philadelphia Eagles during the first half at Ralph Wilson Stadium on October 9, 2011 in Orchard Park, New York. (Photo by Brody Wheeler/Getty Images)

One of the big stories this offseason for the Eagles will be the future of DeSean Jackson. He's due to be a free agent after this season and the likelihood of his return has looked less likely as the year has worn on. DeSean has quite clearly outplayed his rookie contract, but has said he's looking for Larry Fitzgerald type money in a new deal. The Eagles don't seem to agree.

Michael Vick however, is staying positive and says he thinks the situation will work itself out.

"I think it will all work itself out. I think DeSean...you know he was just out at practice and you could just see the glow and the sparkle in his eyes as far as him being out on the field with the guys having fun, you know dominating. And I'm just excited and happy for DeSean for the way he's handling himself and conducting himself throughout everything. So I think it will all take care of itself."

He says DeSean has a good relationship with the team and that he's an important part of what the offense does.

"We all love DeSean. [Head] coach [Andy] Reid loves DeSean. Everybody loves DeSean. He's our guy. That's our little brother, he's my little brother. And we depend on him and rely on him just as much as he depends on us and relies on us. So it all remains to be seen and we just have to take a step back, exhale and assess our situation."

But I had a dream last night that we somehow traded up in the draft to the third pick and drafted luck…..I don’t know why I had this dream but it made ne wake up happy. Also as far as how luck fell to three was a team traded up to 1 and took rg3….

by VRFC8 on Dec 31, 2011 11:10 AM EST via mobile reply actions

I had a dream...

That we drafted Keuchly and Burfict.
Then the Cowboys / Giants game ended in a double disqualification due to Sandusky style misbehavior by Jerry Jones and John Mara.

Burfict is incredibly overrated.

Ed Snider is a crotchety old fuck.

That is all.

by EREX21 on Dec 31, 2011 2:17 PM EST up reply actions

If he is so incredibly overrated, then why does every other person in America like you,

say that’s he’s overrated? How could he be overrated at that point? I think he’s incredibly underrated and has more doubters than people who are singing his praises. Think about it…

by DiegoKing on Dec 31, 2011 2:46 PM EST up reply actions

That would be a stellar draft to grab both of them.

Next year will decide if we even want Michael Vick back… I’m leaning towards No.

Think before you type.
Next year will decide if we even want Michael Vick back…

A little bit of research goes a long way. His contract is guaranteed through next year at a minimum. If you’re talking about trading him than specify that.
Source – http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/08/30/more-vick-contract-details/

I’m leaning towards No.

I understand the entire level of frustration from Eagles fans this year but, this is ridicules. The man is one of the fastest 4 people on the field at all times, has a cannon for an arm, is improving at reading defenses &, players rally around him. Why do you think 1/2 of the free agents took less money to come here? I’ll give you a hint #7.

You started off posting here by typing random thoughts that just crossed your mind at the time. I stuck up for you when everyone flamed the shit out of you but, with posts like this all you are doing is giving them more ammunition. A little bit of thought goes a long way.

Type before you think.

Okay, so if his contract is guaranteed through next year minimum then that’s perfect time for us to still be able to get rid of him after next year, and that’s what I said – Next year will decide if we even want him back, what’s so hard to understand about that ??

And the other thing, being one of the fastest players on the field doesn’t help if you’re the Qb if you can’t even throw the ball w/o it being batted down at the l.o.s. on every other play. He has yet to prove he is an elite Qb, and he didn’t prove much of anything this year other than the face that he holds on to the ball too long leading to more injuries.

Now, your last point, about sticking up for me, I’m glad that you did that, thank you. But to say that I didn’t put any thought behind this is something I can’t agree with. If you noticed, the flamers have pretty much tuned me out and ignore me now, so it doesn’t matter anyways, I’m not trying to gain respect from anyone here by writing in a way that is agreeable to them. I hope you know that about me by now, but thanks for trying to look out for me, always appreciate the small amount of support I do get on here.

I would love a motivated and hungry desean back!

Who would we rather pay 7 million/year too. Stevie Johnson or Desean Jackson

by green_pete_trucking on Dec 31, 2011 11:30 AM EST via mobile reply actions

Except this year he was so hungry he forgot to get motivated

Or waited until it was pretty late.
I’d rather take Dwayne Bowe than either of them.

…pretty much banged everyone on the mighty Maxim list, but not settling down with any of them scared he’s going to miss out on the next new entry to the Maxim list….

And like him, you’re gonna end up getting a trailer trash/gold digger knocked up and having to marry her so that he doesn’t have to pay 45K a month in child support for the next 18 years.

The only way you would have a point here

Would be if I’d recommended drafting a quarterback in the first round.

Now if you really wanted to be accurate, you would say that it’s like being with a woman who is an absolute angel one week and the next week goes into rages, or doesn’t take a shower, or just ignores you the whole time. In such a situation wouldn’t you want to go for someone that you have solid reasons for thinking you would get along well with and enjoy each other’s company the whole time without the whole freaking roller-coaster ride?

Sorry for the late response...

…but in a word…

NO.

I would chalk that up to a bad week for my angel and try to see what the cause of it could be…and, rectify it if I had any control over it. If you cut bait with everyone you have problems with, you’ll end up old and alone. COUGH, EAGLES, COUGH

bare with me

the FA crop this year is looking very nice. at this point desean is in my dog house. I think we shouldn’t franshise him and we should go into FA open minded and try to land either Vincent Jackson or Dwayne Bowe. Both would fill the #1 WR spot that has been up in the air between Desean and Maclin over the past few years and both would be awesome complements to Maclin. the downsides to this are loosing the biggest playmaker in the NFL when at his best , VJ is injury prone, and Bowe has been inconsistent over the years. That being said Desean hasn’t really been very healthy over the years either, and has a frail body. idk, but I can see a move coming at the WR position.

Let's go EAGLES!!!

by DirtyBird7 on Dec 31, 2011 11:45 AM EST reply actions

Somewhat along those lines

I think DeSean will back off his “top 5 WR money” thing due to the amount of FAs that will eventually become available and the fact that he clearly wasn’t a top 5 WR this year. If you remember, it was DeSean’s ridiculous asking price that ultimately kept a deal from happening, and without that, I think a deal will come rather smoothly.

I still like DJax fit on the team. Really opens the field up for McCoy and even Vick’s runs.

But on the other hand it would be nice to have a redzone target for Vick to use so that we stop being cute on redzone plays.

Sounds crazy....but if Braylon Edwards is healthy, I rather take him than Djacks

Mainly because we need a better red zone threat. A guy who can go up and make aplay on the ball and come down with it. We really don’t have that , and have been lacking that since TO left….he would probably come a lot cheaper too..

Kinda like Plaxico made the Jets a really really good red zone team

Not so sure about that.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see Andy move up and go get him. This season LB has been a sore spot highlighted all year. I understand they have had some good games but, I much like many others think that a stud LB & Safety is the way to go. When you add in the idea that the D & O lines have played well this year / Skill positions look good on paper with a good crop of FAs this year & may get better.

Kind like this idea

Edwards definitely improved his character, and I didnt know anything about all those college scholarships he gives out. Pretty outstanding considering they amount to more than what he’s making.

But has he improved his hands? Dude drops a lot of passes.

Braylon has pluses as a player, but also question marks

Pluses: tall, strong receiver who fights for the ball and makes a lot of difficult catches. Solid run blocker. Can get separation and turn a normal pass into a big play.
Question Marks: off the field behavior (DUI, bar fights), sometimes misses on easy catches, health issues (shoulder injury that he’s not really recovered from yet).

If he’s available, you could do a lot worse than sign him in the off-season on the cheap.

Ironic that you should mention Plaxico because a lot of Jets fans regret the switch from Braylon to Plaxico and would prefer to have Braylon back.

Michael Vick would like to pass deep next year

I’m probably speaking from ignorance since I’ve missed about half the Eagles games being stuck at work but how have we been throwing the deep ball this year?

by TimmyGee on Dec 31, 2011 12:29 PM EST reply actions

we haven't been

teams for the most part have been playing their safeties deep , taking away the big play and making us take all the under neath routes. Celek really got to expose it after the line got it’s act together. …

I have never flip-flopped so hard on a transaction before

I am disappointed in him this season, then again I don’t want to play him…EVER. If the Skins got him that’d be rough. I just hope his price comes down to like 7 mill a year and we give him reasonable incentives to get him to 9.
