About those 8 losses
I hate making excuses, and I'm really not. If the Eagles had been a great team, they would certainly not have 8 losses, but...
@ Atlanta - Certain playoff team on the road
NYG - currently 7-7 - an above average team
SF - Remember how this was supposed to be a walk? SF is probably going to have a first round bye.
Chicago - With Cutler and Forte when they were a really good team. Arizona - do you realize this was when Zona was starting their winning 5 of 6 streak, right?Oh, and it turned out Michael Vick was playing with busted ribs most of the game.
NE - Obviously got whacked against Brady here. Also, it turns out Vince Young is not as good a quarterback as Michael Vick. Who knew? Seattle - hitting another team in the beginning of a 5 wins in 6 games streak (also a road game on the WC playing on a Thursday after an East Coast Sunday game - a practice since outlawed by the NFL). Also, Young does not = Vick.
I'm not going into how they lost (which often was maddening as we all know), just pointing out they have not yet lost to a team which could at the time they played them be considered a bad team - indeed many of their losses came at the hands of teams either much better than anticipated, or in the middle of a real surge of much better play than most of their season.
Of course, great teams win those games anyway, but it seems to me the Eagles have not been done any favores by the scheduling gods this year.

If anything, all of this recent Castillo dick riding should be an indictment on Reid’s judgement. If he really had to be coached up by Samuels and Asomugha, that’s terrible.
Reid really put our team in a shitty position, by making him the DC when he wasn’t ready, and only a really lucky end to the season would fix that.
Also, I don’t know why people are happy that we are finally clicking. We have a really nice setup and no one would dispute that. The coaching isn’t top tier, or consistent. I thought it was really funny that Washburn got into it with Marty in the Pats game over terrible play calling. At least someone over there has a clue.
The coaching isn’t top tier, or consistent.
C’mon. If Reid were fired you would find out how many other teams think he is top tier. The Eagles have the #3 offense and #10 defense, things just didn’t go our way this season.
Cowboys suck.

Luck plays into football more than what people would like to admit. The idea that 1 team is better than another is easy to comprehend but a tip here a drop there hell a LBer punching at the ball 2 inches lower means a fumble vs a missed tackle. The Eagles haven’t had a ton of luck this year. Is the team better than the 6-8 record suggests maybe but “You are what your record is.” .

It's what you do with the luck
Luck is part of the game. You are going to have some good and some bad. I think that it levels off. I really don’t like when good teams are called lucky and bad teams are called unlucky. It’s sure nice to have luck on your side but really I think that it’s about what you do with the luck.
Successful teams capitalize on good luck and do not let bad luck affect them and unsuccessful teams do the opposite. The Eagles had some bad luck especially early in the season, but had chances to overcome it and did not.
I’ll give you an example. Remember the Giants – Cardinals game this season? Cruz put the ball on the ground and the refs said that he gave himself up. That really wasn’t the case (even Eli said that they got a gift). If the Giants lose the ball there it’s game over and Cardinals win. Did that call play a part in the Giants winning? Absolutely. But remember, the Giants still had to score. On the very next play they threw to the end zone and scored a TD. That’s an example of the Giants taking advantage of good luck and the Cardinals not overcoming bad luck.
Go Eagles!
things just didn’t go our way this season
And which year did it “Go our way” again? Which year is that SB winning year? I forget….

We had an Easy schedule in 2009.
Yeah we made the playoffs, but then looked what happened.
I love tough schedules, because it really shows what you can expect out of your team in the playoffs, Will your team pull out the tough games when it matters the most? We didn’t see that this year.

He had a black eye one day, but he wouldn’t say just what happened to him
Charlie got mad in class one day, and stood up with a .22 pistol
Told everybody that he couldn’t take it anymore, he was over being the victim"

How about an explanation for those 13 wins?
If you want to get to the post season you have to make excuses to win. This Eagles team might be finally ready to start a winning season – but only if the season started in December! And while they sure had their share off bad breaks, the fact that they have finally showed signs of gelling now seems a bit too late for me. Still, I feel better about next year than I did a month ago.
(Note: I will be happy to recant this statement if – by Crom – the stars align and the Eagles somehow get a playoff berth. I ain’t holding my breath.)
