Future of Desean and possible replacements.

Everybody can see Desean's stats are lacking, and there are two reasons for that. Number 1 teams watched film and know how to play him. Desean is to much one dimensional and teams learned how to cover him. Second he wanted to be paid, we went out signed pro bowlers and forgot one of are on in Jackson. Now the question is do we trade Desean at the end of the season? And if we do who will replace him? There is plenty of players and options we can go, but which way do we go?

Free Agents:

Reggie Wayne: He has been having a down year but Manning has not been behind center.

Wes Welker: I see him going back to New England but if not, and he hits the market Eagles should be intrested. He could open up alot in both passing and running. He goes over the middle and can go deep.

Vincent Jackson: He is probably the best WR in the Free Agent class. This WR can give us more options threw are offense. (My Faviorte WR for the Eagles to grab)

Dwayne Bowe: It will be a toss up with KC on letting him go or Franchise him. If he is available and at the right price i would bring him and and would take over as the #1 spot.

others: Mike Wallace Pit, Steve Johnson Buf, Maques Colston NO,

In this years Draft class there is promise:

Go from the top

Justin Blackmon Oklahoma St.: no way we get him unless we give up Are own first and we are in need of a LB

Jeffery South Carolina: Same with Blackmon

Michael Floyd Notre Dame: He is a big physical wideout that would boost up the wideouts. Yes he might be in the first round and we could trade Desean to get in his sweepstakes.

Ryan Broyels Oklahoma: He is just like Desean so no reason to grab him.

Mohamed Sanu Rutgers: He is a posseion wide out and we have enough of them.

Jeff Fuller Texas A&M: He is big and he mad Patrick Peterson look stupid in the Cotton Bowl and he is 6-4 220.

Nick Toon Wisconsin: The 6-3 220 WR is another physical wide out that the Eagles have a chance to get and he could step in and start day one.

All of these Recievers has a chance to start day one in this organization. What do you say?

Wes Welker can go deep?

I think the biggest problem with NE this year is that they don’t have a deep threat. He is also greatly benefited by the system there, he won’t leave. Bowe is interesting. I doubt Wallace will get away from Pitt but he is the player that Jackson should be.

Cowboys suck.

Yeah i wouldn’t want Wallace either or Steve Johnson from Buffalo but Bowe and Vincent Jackson would be real nice if we go trough free agency

by moyer100 on Nov 9, 2011 8:49 PM EST reply actions

No question Desean is out but I think we have Maclin who will step up and be the number 1 (he already is) and if we still hold on to Steve Smith he could be a good 2 (hopefully) and with Avant and Cooper as the 3 and 4 receiver it would be money in the bank. All we would need is to take a good receiver with some promise and size in the draft and see how he does. Trade Desean for an early pick, draft a starting weak or strong side LB 1st round, a future QB, draft a good wide receiver with some size, and if we could draft a defensive coordinator I think we should.

Desean stays

I don’t think any of those wr’s will be available in free agency and I don’t want us wasting picks on wr’s in the early rounds of the draft. We need linebackers.
As for desean , I don’t see why he is leaving ? Most of the offense’s stats are down this year, ‘cept for shady. We kinda suck if you hadn’t noticed.

by Saidrick on Nov 9, 2011 10:30 PM EST via mobile reply actions

because our receivers can’t catch. Let’s pull that stat book out again. Desean Jackson: 2 for 8 for 16 yards and a fumble LOL. He’s like a certain guard on the Miami Heat who disappears when he is needed the most.

How can you that after the miracle at the meadow lands? Plus Vick’s throws haven’t been great this year when needed: the 4th down manut bol pass to maclin last game.

by Saidrick on Nov 9, 2011 10:40 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

My theory with that 4th down pass. I don’t have the video so I can’t make a fan post about it so I write my thoughts on it. That was a mis- communication.. nothing more, nothing less. If Maclin was in the right place, it would had been a first down. If Vick threw it lower, Maclin could had run for a first down. Both at fault.

Remember that Vick was more important in the Miracle. Jackson lucked up fumbling the ball to turn it down for a TD. Avant had a great block, without that crucial block that punt wouldn’t happen.

Okay, I’ll be fair and give you that one. How about the other games? Jackson celebrated too early dropping the ball at the 1 yard line that could had been called a fumble. Jackson sucks this year because he doesn’t want to get hurt thanks to that punk Dunta. Desean feels like he will get paid if he doesn’t get hurt but he isn’t. He’ll be lucky to get a contract for 2 million.

Thing is we weren’t supposed to win that Giants game but we did.

The Bears game we were leading to start the 4th, driving and making our way down the field. Vick fucked up with the 4th down pass and Maclin choked again.

I don't see DeSean as a hard worker or a guy who'll sacrifice for the team

I’d rather bring in a less gifted guy who is all of that, than keep a small fast guy who keeps thinking he knows best. Or keep him and make a move to get a guy like a Blackmon (which is my pipe dream)

What’s up with these post. DeSean is having a down year, I mean everyone does. Once he gets his contract he’ll hopefully get his shit straight. And why is Desean getting all the shit, I mean he’s sucking, but Maclin is fucking up as much. The only guy doing anything is Lesean who deserves a contract for sure

Dear Lord Baby Jesus

by eaglesfan20 on Nov 10, 2011 12:34 AM EST reply actions

Maclin is also catching

The problem is Vick and Jackson’s heads arent in sync and cant finish the plays they are expected to complete. Vick is doing his job, the latter not so much.

by green on Nov 10, 2011 1:27 AM EST up reply actions

eh I think alot of it comes down to pass protection too.

The pass blocking has been very subpar this season ( almost like last ) and that is not giving Jackson or anyone for that matter enough time to set the deep ball up. Toss in teams are playing 2 very deep to counter it and you have what you see right now.

by Easedel on Nov 10, 2011 7:03 AM EST up reply actions

That’s dumb. I don’t think you understand how negotiations work. Giving a player a contract is risky business especially when you don’t know what you are getting. Do you spend 10 million a year for 4 years on one player to hope he will get better? Hell no. With your logic, NASA would hire someone who has a PH.D in Physics but never work a day in his life. You don’t sign for his potential, you sign the player for what he can bring to the organization. Sorry, that’s life. It’s a what have you done lately league. If Desean Jackson’s head wasn’t so far in his ass, he would probably have a contract. Jackson’s play this year is garbage and don’t give me that crap about the other 2 years. Desean has been doing boneheaded decision since playing for Philadelphia Eagles. Luckily, the first two years, the positive outweigh the negatives. Michael Vick told him if Jackson plays well, he will get paid. He hasn’t and it doesn’t help that Jackson has a shitty agent who only cares about the big bucks. Look at Lesean McCoy because it looks like he is getting a extension very soon. Do you see Shady complaining about getting paid?

Desean is a selfish fuckwit primadonna. Jackson wants to get paid yet doesn’t play well. Who the fuck wants to pay someone who could be a one year wonder? And don’t say Vick because 1) he isn’t new to league, you kind of knew what you were getting. Serviceable quarterback that can string some wins unless he established pocket present i.e. 2010. If he regressed to a shitty passer again, fuck it… you can get rid of him after next year. If he played like he did in 2010, Vick might can bring the Eagles to promise land.

2) They had give him a contract because they franchise tag him
3) Not all that money is guaranteed. This year and next year, they have to pay Vick all of it. Even if the Eagles play like shit next year, gives them enough time to either develop Kafka or draft a QB. After 2013, if Vick doesn’t play 35 percent of the snaps, he doesn’t get paid.

That contract isn’t as bad as everyone think.

P.S. Fuck Desean Jackson! He can say hello to the free agency because he is an overrated piece of shit. Everyone only loves him because he make big plays. He is a boom or bust player. A boom or bust player doesn’t belong on the Philadelphia Eagles.

P.P.S. To all you fans who love Desean Jackson and think it will hurt us if he walks. No, you are dead wrong. Did it hurt to get rid of Terrell Owens? He was good possiblly future HOF right? The Eagles did right to drop his ass. Imagine if the primadonna stayed? If TO stayed, it will hurt the Eagles in the long run. To please the bastard, he wants to get paid the farm. Why the fuck should the Eagles pay for a 1 dimensional player who hasn’t show much progress from his rookie year? It would be cheaper to draft someone and you might can get a even better receiver! Stretching the field means shit if you can’t catch. Running faster than the CB doesn’t mean shit if you can’t get open to catch the ball or fight to catch the ball. How about running a decent route and not getting easily jam by a CB for once?

You don’t pay top dollars to a shitty player. Let’s pay 10 million dollars to DRC and maybe he will play better. Yeah, that’s the problem… he isn’t getting paid like Asante and Nnamdi so that’s why he is playing like shit.

GOD DAMN I’M SO FUCKING PISSED RIGHT NOW! I HATE DESEAN JACKSON!

While I agree on DJax going to FA...

I think T.O. would have been a better fit for this offense, and probably would have helped lead us to another Super Bowl. He was an all round receiver in his heyday, and definitely one of the best. It’s a shame the guy is such an asshole and not a team player. He could have helped a lot of teams out.

On topic, DJax is one dimensional. Should he be traded? At this point in time…yes. Can’t go across the middle, can’t catch even when it’s thrown his way, in traffic or without… Essentially the guy is useless. I’d honestly trade for Mike Wallace if I could. But that’s just my opinion.

by EaglesForever20 on Nov 10, 2011 7:13 AM EST up reply actions

Too late.

Desean Jackson and Asante Samuels ‘s stock have pummel so fast you wouldn’t get much. Pretty much they would have to salary dump Samuels and get a 3 or 4 rounder or get a serviceable or crappy player. I think the FO were trying to do that with Samuels but they were asking to much in returns. Problem was the FO cashed in too early and that is why the Eagles suck.

Bit of advice for you, Moyer

You could include a couple more factors where you were listing the possible free agent replacements for DeSean. Factors that the Eagles front office and coaching staff would be likely to consider.
Namely: their stats (catches, yards, YPC, TD’s), age, current contract size (how much total, how much guaranteed), size (our only tall receiver is Riley Cooper, who is not on the field much).
That would spice up your post, make it a bit more professional-looking and informative.

by Rabbit T on Nov 10, 2011 9:30 AM EST reply actions

yup

in addition you could explain in what scenario the eagles would be able to trade djax. He’s a FA next year so they either have to sign him to a big contract or Franchise Tag him… either way his value at those prices are significantly diminished. Could he be traded for the rest of THIS season as a rental? possible, but again I think he’d have to go for a mid (3rd, 4th?) round pick for an 8 game rental.

When your team only can beat shitty team and play like ass against average team. Imagine if we played the Saints or the Packers? I wouldn’t be surprise if they put up 50 points on the Eagles. This was a bad team from the start, we just didn’t think so because we went 10-6 last year with luck plus some shiny new toys. This is Madden in real life.

I have a feeling that come draft day

Our FO somehow manages to nab two top 15 picks and we come away with a LB and a good WR in place of DeSean I drop everything Jackson. Just a gut feeling right now unless Djack explodes down the stretch.

Desean’s not trying..Time to put some guys in who are going to give it all.

problem with our receivers are the arent getting open and when they do they drop the ball. we need a big 6-4 target that will demand double team so one trick ponie speedster desean can get lost in coverage and hopefully one day maclin will mature a bit because despite his numbers he seems overrated and not a huge threat that we need.
