If you think it's unlikely the Eagles will make a 7-1 run over the second half of the season to make the playoffs, I have news for you : Even a 7-1 run the rest of the way probably won't be good enough.
For the record, I'm not really sold on either the Falcons or the Bears. If I were a betting man, I'd say that ONE of these teams will drop the ball and finish 9-7 or worse. But not BOTH of them. One of these teams will hit 10 wins, and we have to assume the Lions will as well. So even precluding the possiblity that another team like the Cowboys or Bucs surges late in the season, the Eagles won't be able to get in with 10 wins. They'll need 11.
The only other recourse would be a collapse by the Giants which would open up the NFC East for the taking. Not unheard of from the NYG, but for some reason I don't see the Giants collapsing this season, mostly because Eli Manning is playing like Peyton Manning all of a sudden. I'm guessing they finish with 11 wins, maybe 12. Now if the Eagles win out (which, of course, includes beating the Giants in 2 weeks) and tie the Giants at 11-5, the Eagles would hold that tiebreaker as they'd have only one NFC East loss while the Giants would have at least 2.
But whether you're thinking NFC East Title or Wild Card, it's gonna take 11-5.
