The two big positives from the Bears game - Graham and Jarrett

For the first time this season we got to see some extensive action from two defensive players who should be a major part of our defense in the future. Brandon Graham looked quick, healthy, and fully confident in his surgically repaired knee. When a running back went low on a block, Graham took it in stride and continued to the qb for a pressure. When he was chasing a ballcarrier and there was a big scrum to bring him down, Graham threw his hat into the pileup without hesitancy. Overall I came away very excited with how BG looks. I loved this pick then and I love this pick now. If he gets that knee back to 100% Graham will become a defensive leader for us.

When I saw Jarrett out there on special teams early in the game I was excited and noted that finaly Jarrett was on the active roster. Little did I know he'd soon be starting for a concussed Allen. It's impossible to give a fully accurate appraisal of his performance without the game tape, but at least he looked decisive, able to tackle, and on first impression... looked to me like he belonged.

Anyone else see anything or have any observations on these two?

Gotta agree with you on the Graham assessment. He looked quick, and wasn’t hesitant to the ball. Jarrett looked like he can wrap up and make tackles… Possibly a little iffy in pass defense. But hey, for his first NFL action he looks like someone to keep an eye on, especially if Allen is out next week.

We’ll probably have to wait until next year because they will probably ease Graham in but I hope he starts over Babin next year it will help the run defense a lot

He was a much bigger part of the rotation than I had anticipated in his first game back

He will get a good chance to showcase his skills this year as well

or just the pressures?

I didn't see him make a solo tackle

but I watched him closely and I was encouraged by his burst off the snap and his play in general.

These guys might help for when we win NEXT year's

Super Bowl. :(

But seriously if those two high draft picks on the defensive side pan out, you have Allen/Jarrett back there, with Coleman in the mix (and that dude has a fire in him, or just talks a lot of trash)

Graham will probably outlast Babin and Cole and hopefully will become a cornerstone, but absent that, adding him and Tapp to the DE rotation has to make the whole line stronger, right.

Here are my thoughts on our young impact LB draft picks that we got to see play yesterday:

So yeah.

Still waiting for the Eagles to Bring it Home for Jerome.

Jarrett and Graham

are definitely two HUGE keys to our defense of the future. Reid has already given the label of the next Dawkins to Jarrett in the preseason, and he was a rock solid tackler and a bit hitter in college. His weakness was the pass coverage but could certainly improve that just by playing. Graham could have been a force this year if hed not gotten injured but will be big in the years to come. Both of these guys are going to be clutch in the future…we just gotta give them some time to develop.

No, next year we’re 0-0. This year we’re 3-5, for better or worse we’ll keep watching this train wreck because we love football. But we’re looking forward to next fall I think all of us.

WELL

I have not jumped that far yet, but could be coming soon, We still have one more shot at this to fix this year but I think someone else posted it in another fanpost – but 1 more loss kills us, 2 losses play for draft status
