Nnamdi Asomugha Injury Not Considered Serious

Photo

Ruben Frank is reporting that scans on Nnamdi Asomugha's knee revealed no structural damage, but the Eagles CB's status for Sunday is still up in the air. Asomugha injured his left knee in practice yesterday in a non contact drill and held to be helped off the field in a cart. Kurt Coleman said it was a scary scene.

"It’s painful to see," safety Kurt Coleman said. "You never want to see a teammate go down, especially when they’re holding lower body [parts]. That stuff can affect your career."

We'll just brush aside how wierd that quote would sound out of context... Joselio Hanson said that he didn't think it was a serious injury and was told that there was a chance Nnamdi could be back as early as today.

"It looked bad, but they said he was going to be alright, expecting to come back tomorrow and practice," Hanson said.

Phew!

I have to say, even though I’ve not been blown away by his play so far this year, It’s a massive relief to know that he’ll be back soon (hopefully Sunday..) I wouldn’t wan’t to even guess how much worse our secondary would be with Nnamdi out.

It's great to hear

that it’s not a serious injury. But quite frankly it really doesn’t matter beyond Sunday’s game. If there was one game we needed NA for, it was for the Patriots to match up with those TE’s. Hanson can’t matchup with them and Hughes and our LB’s will also struggle to slow them down.

Let’s hope they figure something out if NA is out. Because if we lose, having NA back for next week or the week after that won’t really matter much.

I agree

If there was one week we needed him, it’s this week. How is DRC? Do we know if he’s out this week?

Psshh

We got the secret weapon, Keenan Clayton.

I’m only half kidding. Clayton seems like the perfect guy to have on the field on Sunday.

He’s great in coverage, and the Pats don’t run much, so his deficiencies will be mitigated.

“Great” in coverage? If he was great in coverage he’d actually play.

I agree that we could see a lot more of Clayton on Sunday, but he’s not Nnamdi. And that’s still not saying a lot considering Nnamdi hasn’t been Nnamdi this season.

His height and length matches up perfectly with those TE’s though.

by Smitty2K3 on Nov 25, 2011 11:25 AM EST up reply actions

length and height yes.

Size and strength….NEGATIVE. I live 5 minutes away from UofA where G’ski played. Watched him destroy LB’s,DBS’s,and SS’s. If they don’t play those TE’s tight and jump routes for picks,we r fucked.

dude I didnt even reply to you….. I think you need to learn how to reae

I agree with what you are saying….

My comment was regarding Clayton, he has been seeing the field a lot more and (other than Nnamdi) is about our only other guy on this team that is big enough, and plays coverage well enough to match one of these two TEs

Gotcha bro

I see a big game from Shady,at least 2 picks, and an unexpected win for our boys.

Clayton is playing? Yeah on ST’s and sparingly in the Nickel. I know he’s active and gets some snaps, but he doesn’t play.

Thank god. Now we can put him back in zone!

I think we have to give Derek Landri special credit. He was going to scoop and score with the fumble late in the game, but then it occurred to him that Shady hadn’t run for 100 yards yet. Landri selflessly went down so that Shady could pad his stats. Derek Landri is the Mother Teresa of DTs.

He'll Clearly..

Sit out practice today; but as long as the injury isn’t serious I’m calm. I think Castillo will run mostly man this game. Pleased our DL is coming off a quality game against the Giants; take into account the banged up OL of NE, and it makes for a good one.

Hernandez scares me more this game than Gronkowsi, cue Clayton.

i returned to the tv from the dinner table

to see the cowboys had survived the dolphins and namdi had been injured in practice.
what a relief that the second appears to have been alarmist.

not serious but...

He’ll miss the next 3 games

I heard DRC is practicing again, not sure if thats true but if it is I’d like to see how he plays on the outside.

In 5 years, I want De'Anthony Thomas on this football team.

Nnamdi, DRC and Vick all listed as questionable. Maclin doubtful, Djax probable.

I’m reasonably optimistic that at least one of our injured CBs will be back on Sunday.

Hopefully it’s Nnamdi. DRC is fine on the outside. I just don’t want to see him matching up on Welker or either of the TE’s. That could be ugly.

Any Vick news from practice?

by VBG on Nov 25, 2011 4:14 PM EST reply actions

DRC & Nnamdi

Listed as questionable. DRC practiced today though.

DAMMIT

So with Brady now facing a questionable Nnamdi, no DRC, and us being weak against slot receivers and tight ends (both of which the Patriots are 1st with)…

Do I start Brady, or Cam Newton at Indy?
