Brian Rolle, a nice change of pace

I am not trying to buy in to our sudden emergence, we are still 4-6 and still have zero consistency so I am just going to focus on personnel. The much maligned LB core has been in flux all season. But in recent weeks it has been playing a little better. I have to admit, I think it is mostly growing pains and DC scheming in addition to playcalling, but there is a bright spot, Brian Rolle.

He's no Lewis, Willis or Matthews, but by far has shown the most growth this year in the limited time he has been named the starter. Watching the Giants game, I saw him come full circle. At times he was out of position, much like Casey Matthews was throughout his brief starting experience, but learns from his mistakes and is hard to the ball. Every tackle made Sunday night, Rolle was around the ball. I am very impressed and excited about his future. I know Casey was middle and Rolle is weakside, but what a difference it makes if you correct your mistakes, which Matthews was not doing. And when Rolle did make a few coverage mistakes and gap mistakes, he makes them hard. He rarely misses a tackle and at this point has 25 solo tackles and 8 assisted, 33 total. He is always around the ball and is 4th on the team in tackles. Unfortunately behind the likes of Coleman and Page, interestingly enough (not the sign of a good D when the safety are 2 and 3 on the list).

Anyway I am have been focused on him more this last few weeks and like what I see as a future star of this defense, whomever is the DC. Thoughts?
