Eagles Vs Bills Friday Injury Report
The Eagles have officially ruled out Trent Cole and Jason Peters for Sunday, which was pretty much expected. The good news though is that both Darryl Tapp and Juqua Parker practiced. While Juqua is still listed as questionable, the return of those two guys will certainly help mitigate the loss of Cole. Obviously you can't replace a Trent Cole, but in general I think we'd all feel more comfortable with a rotation of veterans including Tapp and/or JP rather than seeing Phillip Hunt play every single snap.
Reid said today despite their need at DE with Cole down, he won't rush Parker back.
"Well you don't want to put him in a bad position, that's not what we're going to do. With a high ankle sprain you're going to have good days, you're going to have bad days, I mean, that's how it works. Yesterday was not a good day for him, he was sore. He came back today and said he felt good, so I think that's a positive thing. I think it helps that you're, especially on this time of the year, you're playing on a surface that's got to be consistent, just like our indoor facility is, so this is a good measuring stick for him today. We'll just see how he does."
Everyone else is good to go. So, while it's a big blow to be down two starters, two pro bowl starters that is... At least we're getting some help back.

Ugh
I can’t believe we are in a position where JP being healthy and returning is being looked at as a boost to a struggling defense.
i swear, almost everytime ND wins, Philly loses, ND loses, Philly wins
Almost…here’s to hoping ND gets merked by AF. They ain’t got no prospects this year

Both have awful 4th quarter letdowns
The letdowns of ND v Michigan and Birds v Falcons are eerily similar. As for prospects, Manti Teo is certainly an upgrade over what we have at LB now.
ya i wasnt referencing any player for player thing
But you’re right 4th qrt letdowns… and fucking turnovers! Stupid TO’s! I just rather them both win but since nd has very little bcs hopes, id rather eagles win and right this fecking ship!

I'm thinkin Tapp goes off opposite Babin
he plays the wide-9 very well and i think he could be an every down DE and excel in the absence of Cole.
Agreed, 100%
The wide-9 absolutely plays to Tapp’s strengths.
Based on what I saw in preseason and early on vs. St. Louis, I’m not at all worried. Obviously Cole is a superior player to Tapp, but I don’t think the drop-off will be too drastic. Tapp was a terror at times in that St. Louis game.
Yeah they will get a few sacks while the eagles
d gives 160+ yards rushing. That wide 9 sure works great. Great trade off. Lol

Babin is going to go off this week
He is pissed off about the bullshit 15k fine he got for hitting Smith last week. 2 sacks at least for the NFL’s leading sacker.

Yeah those few sacks are so shiny
who cares about giving up 160+ rushing. Go wide 9 aka ‘eagles 18’

1st in sacks 30th in rushing= the power of the wide 9 aka 'eagles 18'. Gaps be enough to fit an 18 wheeler through.
Great balance. Great trade off. Those sacks are so shiney. Lol go eagles

So you're just going to beat a dead and decaying horse?
Boo we can’t stop the run. Yeah, we get it already, bud. Theres been about 50 million fanposts and fanshots saying the same thing. We can bury the horse now.
Yeah and babin will get some sacks. We already know that
stop beating the dead horse. Right back at yah. And you like the shiny sacks

“Eagles 18” isn’t that catchy, you gotta give us something better
by con-vick on Oct 7, 2011 4:54 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions
And what dead horse was I beating?
All I recall saying was that Tapp, not Babin, FYI is going to be a good stop-gap this week in the absence of Cole. So where exactly are you going with this? Or are you just going to continue to cry about our run defense?
I think we need to run more gadget plays.
That should compensate for the injuries and really turn things around.
We need to show some HEART

How? Defensively the eagles don't even know who they are.
by ZX2355 on Oct 7, 2011 5:32 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions
yes they do. They’re the “Eagles 18” and they’re going to allow 160+ rushing yards because the wide-9 is the sole reason their running defense sucks!
Amirite?
The Jruth shall be told.
Explain Chaney?
Last year he was doing pretty damn good. On the rise. Thats why everybody was so jazzed he was back at mlb. Now he sucks. Even with better d line personnel? Hmmm little strange. I wonder what it could be?
by ZX2355 on Oct 7, 2011 5:56 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions
First off I just want to say that we had Q last year. He was our leading tackler and obviously our best safety. He’s gone, and now the safeties take horrible angles in the running game and make no plays around the line of scrimmage. Convenient that you haven’t brought that up at all. I seriously doubt you’ve even taken that into consideration.
Now to Chaney.
He was good in the last 3 games of a season against players that had gone through much more of a grind than he did. I’m not saying that the wide-9 is good against the run. I’m just saying that you’re putting way too much of the blame on the defensive line’s scheme and not nearly enough blame on the players. Are you honestly surprised that a second year 7th round pick is struggling in a new system at MLB?
The Jruth shall be told.
plus you’ve said it so many times that it’s starting to make you look like a complete asshole. We all get it, you don’t like the wide-9. No one cares.
The Jruth shall be told.
Oh shut the hell up. I do like the wide 9 when you have the correct D personnel to run it.
Eagles do not. You keep blaming other things. I will keep talking about the true problem with this D. This is an eagles football blog.
at least show some heart even
if we lose… go down swinging, we can hope right?

I've never been more angry and empassioned as an eagles fan... EVER
We are the laughing stock of the NFL.
first the absurdity of the cuckooqb “dream team”
then the presumption that guys will win just by showing up for the game
then the stream of leads that evaporate late in the game….
and then the fun begins….
Juan admits he didn’t know how to use NA
Baldinger ridicules us on NATIONAL TELEVISION – showing the world what a patsy team we have…
Frank Gore publically CALLS US OUT and says we quit in the game….
Who can go into the buffalo game without being angry, empassioned, stomping their feet and cheering the eagles on? NO more excuses! NO more “we have always found a way to turn it around”! NO more – we’ll get back to you!
As yoda said. “Do it Or Do not! THERE IS NO TRY!”
Are the Eagles even man enough to try anymore? At some point, a man has to realize there is no more tomorrow and fight like he.ll.
THIS IS THAT MOMENT EAGLES! FIGHT LIKE HELL!
Sweet...
Dude….you quoted Yoda. Never laughed so hard! And someone hug ZX…everyone knows this defense was built after last yr when we were the 2nd ranked offense. With no one leaving, the FO felt we’d score early and OFTEN forcing teams to come from behind throwing the ball to Pro bowl CBs with Pro Bowl DE rushing. The main issues to me are Redzone offense (scoring), Redzone defense (fgs are wins too), tackling, and not stepping on our opponent’s throats (finishing) are the problems. I’ll give up the run. Realistically, we need to join everyone in the 3-4, but wrong DC and personnel close that debate. I would take the Cowboys or Redskins 3-4 defenses with our offense any day. Luke, I am your father!!!

Silver lining
Granted both sides of the ball have performed worse than we all anticipated. Plus in one week not much has been done to take our cornerback heavy team up the defensive rankings. Have faith, against the Bills Defense Sunday, I predict the birds offense will show their AS$ finally(another big Vick game?) compete in the 4th and close a game.
