Hey, you idiots blaming Washburn.

I've noticed how many people on here have been blaming Washburn for our D having trouble. Let's get a few things clear and that's all I'll likely say when you people end up complaining about the best DL coach in football.

First Off, Look at what he has done:

Cole- 3 sacks, 14 tackles

Babin- 7 sacks, 12 tackles, 1 FF

Jenkins- 4 sacks, 10 tackles

Patterson- 7 tackles

Laws- 7 tackles

Tapp- 3 tackles, 1 sack, 1 FF

Parker- 2 tackles, 1 TD

Hunt- 1 tackle

Dixon- 4 tackles

Our DL has produced. 15 sacks, 2 FF's, 1 defensive TD and 60 tackles. Our Sack totals put us in 1st place (tied with the Redskins) and might I add only 1 sack came off of a blitz yet it was still made by one of our defensive lineman.

But he's made us weak against the run:

This isn't Washburn's fault. If his system was that terrible the Titan's wouldn't have ran it for years. The Titans actually built their defense around Washburns system because it is so good at getting sacks and creating pressure. The only difference is the LB's, below is the Titans LB's last season compared to ours so far this season:

SAM LB:

Gerald McRath- 12 games, 7 starts. 58 tackles, 1.5 sacks, 2 pass defenses.

Moise Fokou- 4 games, 4 starts. 11 tackles, 1 pass defense.

MIKE LB:

Stephen Tulloch- 16 starts. 160 tackles, 1 sack, 6 pass defense, 1 INT

Jamar Chaney- 4 games, 4 starts. 27 tackles.

WILL LB:

Will Witherspoon- 16 starts. 92 tackles, 3 sacks, 8 pass def, 2 INT's, 1 FF

Matthews&Rolle- 19 tackles, 2 pass def.

Our LB's just aren't producing. Top to bottom they're just getting outmatched and outplayed. The Eagles do have similar LB's to what the Titans have had, the only difference to me is the technique they used to get off blocks, it really seems like our LB's have never had to get off blocks before and that's a major issue.

So is it really Washburn's fault?

Nope.

  1. His unit has ALL of our sacks.
  2. His unit has 60 of our 226 tackles (which is 27% of our teams total tackles)
  3. His unit is getting pressure even though our DB's and LB's can't cover shit.
It's completely stupid to blame this on Washburn, it's not his fault the LB's can't do their jobs, it's not his fault that Nnamdi's in zone coverage or that our Safety's are struggling. At this point Washburn and his Crew are pulling more than their weight.
So I suggest that if you don't like sacks, and you don't like the defense pressuring the QB that you go and root for the Bills who can hardly get to a QB, but hey, they got good LB's right?
