Eagles Trade Ronnie Brown To Lions For Jerome Harrison
For the second year in a row, the Eagles signed a free agent RB to be LeSean McCoy's backup and decided before the trade deadline that he wasn't working out and they should trade him for Jerome Harrison.
So like Mike Bell last year, the Eagles have sent Ronnie Brown to the Lions for Jerome Harrison and a 7th round pick in 2013. The Lions needed an extra back after Jahvid Best was hurt on Sunday and frankly, Brown wasn't even being used in Philly. After his inexplicable "fumble," Dion Lewis started getting virtually all of the backup RB carries.
"I didn't know if somebody was playing or not, but then once I realized it was serious, I was like ‘cool,' you know, play for a great coach, great organization. I'm excited to be back." said Harrison "The week off will be huge to get back in the playbook and start hearing the terminology again. I have been checking out the Eagles to see how LeSean is doing and he's doing great. I'm excited to be back."
So sending off Brown to a place where he should get some playing time is probably best for all parties. And in return the Eagles get a guy that has been successful in their system and an extra pick down the road.

I LIKE IT
But I was waiting for the splash to happen again but it didnt but I liked Harrison and didnt like that he was let go earlier this year instead of resigning him. good job Philly, work on that offense,,
Yesss, logged on at 4:15 and Asante's still here!
I like this trade a lot… Harrison was as good a #2 RB as it gets for the Eagles last year. We couldn’t resign him because he wanted a starting role opportunity elsewhere. That didn’t work out, so now we get him back and net a 7th rounder. If it hadn’t cost us a loss to the 49ers, I’d say we made out like bandits!
I wonder if Harrison takes over as #2 or if Lewis keeps getting carries.
probably
Depends on the play and the situation. I see them trying Harrision for short yardage between the Tackles runs – (where the problem is the Tackles more than the runner) and still using Lewis for returns and breathers for Westbroo… errr… Shady McCool.
The Iggles know how to use Harrison and they are smart enough to mix things up for McCoy. I think Lewis will still get some touches.

If Lons needed a back why didn’t they hang on to Harrison.

He really did not do much here.
He has not had a carry since Week #3. Keiland Williams and Maurice Morris are our back ups.
I am not really thrilled about losing a seventh round pick, even if it is not until 2013, but if Brown has anything left he could help us out a bit here.
But from what I read from Eagles fans, he is running on empty.
My 2011 Lions season prediction: 12 wins and 4 losses. I made this prediction the week after the New England preseason game. It's looking a little pessimistic right now.
Nah man, you’re confused. We’re getting a 7th, not giving one up.

Hey NorthLeft,
Do you realize that half of the Eagles were 5th or 7th rounders? (For some reason we really hate sixth rounders.) This deal was like giving a first rounder to a normal team.
:)

Really? You really believe that?
Then I guess you guys should do a better job using your first, second, third, and fourth round picks because your team is not performing like you are finding contributors in the fifth and seventh rounds.
On second thought, maybe you are. LOL

I’ll pick up this discussion with you after game 10, because we had an awful start, which I predicted. Still it is very interesting that they can find such productive late round players.
As for them playing poorly to this point, the Iggles changed too many coaches, players and schemes to come out of the gate strong – especially in a year where there was almost no pre-season. – and I have on gone on record as saying so. Dream Team expectations were totally out of line with reality and a lot of people have egg on their face for thinking differently. Most of them were NON-Eagles fans.
But I also think the Eagles have finally completed their equivalent of a pre-season and are now ready to show their stuff. Feel free to come back and gloat after game ten if you must.
Good luck, Lions.

Not gloating, just questioning your belief that your team is built with fifth and seventh rounders.
Your playmakers on offence are all high draft picks; Vick, McCoy, Maclin, and Jackson. Yes, you guys have done well with picking up some starters late in the draft, but equating it to a first round pick is a little much.
And good luck to you and your team. Please beat the Cowboys.

Cowboys – our pleasure.
Draft Picks – I’m not saying I disagree with you, but I heard it on good authority that Andy Reid will be trading out of the first four rounds for the next draft so that he can get the entire 5th and 7th rounds for the next five years.
I know I don’t quite understand his genius, but then I suppose that why I izn’t one.
Go Lions! It’s about time you guys came out of the gate so strong. It must feel great.

I think I did good on my post.
Defensive player of the year for 2011 is...
Wild_Eagle!
Yes, Wild_Eagle's infamous reputation did help him get this award. But he shows that he walks the talk that he serves...with his keyboard. Wild_Eagle protects the motherland (BGN) from the evils of noobs, douche-bags, and other assholes. Although he may be crude and unnecessary, all great defenders draws the yellow flag from time to time.

Never too early to start adding
Late round draft picks. Between Fokou Cheney and Coleman, we’re having more success with 7th rounders than 3rds.
i know i do like brown
but after a fuck up that big, he deserves to be shipped out

Boring...
While a positive since we weren’t even using Ronnie Brown, this doesn’t do a whole lot to improve the glaring deficiencies of this team. First of all, Shady barely ever comes off the field – you can’t take your best player out. Barring an injury, he may see 3 snaps a game from here on out. We desperately need an impact linebacker and could probably use a safety as well. I know things improved this last week, but enough to ignore weeks 1-5? We’ve got picks, DE’s and CB’s to shop in order to fill a HUGE hole. I just don’t get it…. are linebackers so invaluable that I could get a job? I come cheap and am as good of a tackler as Jarrad Page.
Invaluable actually means the same thing as valuable, kind of like inflammable.
Boy, did I learn that second one the hard way…
No eyebrows?

He will be a lot better than the guy you have now.
Maybe if you got some good Linebackers you would not have to replace them every year or two.

Seems like all the hype about signing him in the offseason was for naught.

Reid loves those late-round picks. This trade is basically pointless, but hey, the Eagles got some extra value for basically nothing, right?
We sort of feel the same way in Detroit.

People seem to have forgotten how good Harrison was
40 carries in 2010 with the Eagles for over 6 yards per carry…
I’m excited about this (seriously)!
Yeah...........
If I remember correctly , didnt he do well on up the gut short downs ?
I hope so,we could certainly use some of that.
It's never easy being an Eagle fan........but I'll be damned if I ever stop.
the day we only score 3 points with this offense, is the day ill give everyone a dollar haha
