I was ready to write the Eagles out of the playoffs after last week's devastating loss to Buffalo. For me, that was it. I remembered in 2008 when the Eagles started 2-3 and ended up in the NFC Championship game. I thought if they beat Buffalo they had a chance. If they didn't they would miss the playoffs.
Well, the Eagles are 1-4 and I officially gave up hope on the postseason - that is, until I looked at the schedule. The Eagles play the Redskins, the Bills play the Giants, and the Patriots play the Cowboys. Now the Eagles are the only road team in the division this week, but if they somehow manage to pull out a win it is very possible that the Giants and Cowboys could both lose. That would put the Eagles only 1 1/2 games out of the division lead. Then they would go into the bye week and have never lost afterwards under Andy Reid.
Is hope there? Is redemption possible?
Yes, but only for one more week. Drop a fifth straight game - a stark possibility for the Eagles - and they are completely done.
