I was able to study a good portion of the game today up close and personal, here's what I observed
First off, the Eagles deserved to lose because they played like a team who didn't deserve to win a playoff game -- and they didn't... Say what you want about schemes, coaches, play calling, refs, etc.. Dropped balls on crucial third downs, missed FG attempts, poor tackling, and we did not make the most of the opportunities GB afforded us (and they gave us plenty). Don't forget the stupid penalties that hurt as well.
Ernie Sims - Detroit fans were so on the money when they were brushing off that trade. They were right, he is so undisciplined he was getting beat so bad in the passing game and over pursued a couple of run plays that led to nice runs. When I mean "beat" I mean he completely blew the coverage. He needs to go.
Michael Vick - While Vick had a tremendous season you have to wonder if we really do sign him and for how long. He takes a lot of hits and he gets injured very often. Furthermore, as the season progressed and teams got more tape on him the less stellar he actually looked. Overall, I think he played a fine game, but he seems to be struggling with his accuracy at times and still can't read a defense like an elite passer does. At the ripe age of 31, next year, you wonder what kind of contract the Eagles are willing to offer him.
Riley Cooper - Can we PLEASE stop saying how this kid is going to take over Maclin's spot on the roster? He's got some nice potential, sure, but he really should of at least batted down that last INT. He is a lot bigger and taller than Tramon Williams but Williams used his athleticism and beat Cooper to get the ball.
Trent Cole - The Hunter had a very quiet game, even in the run game.
Either way, for a team that played so dominant in the regular season, to lose like this in the WC round, hurts pretty bad. I froze my ass off to watch that pretty uninspiring effort by our birds.
