2.Special Teams is often overlooked by everybody, but not having a good one is costly.
Want an example? Here's one:This year, the San Diego Chargers have a superstar quarterback in Phillip Rivers,a fairly decent running game with Jacob Hester and Ryan Tolbert. The defense,oh they're one of the best in the game.If you weren't noticed, they went 9-7.

Only the Chargers have electrocuted themselves because of their shitty special teams. They've given up 4 blocked punts,3 kick return TD's,one more on a punt return and the average starting field position is at the 32 yard line after punts and the 27 yard line (or somewhere near that)after kickoffs. So basically the opponent has been given about 7-8 yards more than normal after punts and about 5 yards more after kickoffs. It doesn't seem like much, but if the game is tied with 3 seconds left and the opponents have to try a 47 yard field goal instead of a 56 yarder, you will understand. The Chargers would be at least 11-5 now if they had not given up those Kickoff td's against Seattle and those blocked punts in the Raiders game. The Chargers would have had more points than their opponents and studies show teams are 4864-0 in games when the team scores more than opponents.
Moral of Story:The Chargers would be great if ST's weren't so
SHITTY!!
And so now,I will probably make a part three,so long and-
