Alfie Crow of Big Cat Country has been attending the practices for the East-West Shrine game this week and has been taking note of what scouts are meeting with what players. Here's a list of which players he spotted Eagles scouts talking to after the practices he was at.
Penn State RB Evan Royster
Michigan State linebacker Eric Gordon
Ohio State offensive guard Bryant Browning
Utah offensive guard Caleb Schlauderaff
He'll have more updates after today's practices as well.

scouting critera:
Are you an offensive lineman? We’d like to have a word with you.
Are you a cornerback? We’d like to have a word with you.
Are you a weakside linebacker in 4-3? We’d like to have a word with you.
2010-11 Predictions:
Kevin Kolb will go to the probowl and complete >65% of passes.
Jeremy Maclyn will have more receptions than Miles Austin & Steve Smith
Graham will have the starting LDE spot tied up by week 5, win ROTY, and have >10 Sacks
11-5 finish.

Would much rather keep Harrison than draft Royster
I guess he’d be OK as a 3rd RB over Buckley. I’ve seen this guy way too much be at all excited about having him, especially with our line and run-averse offense
no more big 10 backs please.

I want Derrick Locke from Kentucky,
take a look at him, he’s faster than Demps and carries a little bit of a punch.. and the main reason? He can return kicks.

I WENT TO HIGHSCHOOL WITH ROYSTER!!
Last year he was considered a late-1st round pick but this year he’s slipped a little (a 3rd or 4th for him would be a true bargain). His work ethic is unparalleled and is known as being one of the most coachable athletes in the game. He won’t be another training camp punching bag like Eldra Buckley. And when asked to, will pound the rock between the tackles.
Westfield HS REPRESENT! lol
Royster can play
He reminds me of Duce Staley, and that is really good IMO.
Not overly great at anything (except toughness), but really good at everything.
I hope we get him.
meh
As a Buckeye fan, I’ve seen plenty of Big Ten football this season. Royster is underwhelming at best. He only topped 100 yds this season three times against Temple, Michigan and Northwestern…not exactly defensive giants.
Combine that with 7 total TDs (6 rushing, 1 receiving)…color me unimpressed. Regardless, RB is the least of our concerns right now.
To be fair
His O-line this season was absolute garbage, and he was playing with a freshman QB (or a first-year starter) where everyone knew he was going to get the ball A LOT.
Still, if he has problems getting to the outside against the Indianas, OSU’s and MSU’s of the world, good luck in the NFL.

Agreed
PSU had problems all over the place this year. But McGloin wasn’t terrible down the stretch, he at least made teams think about defending the pass. Look at the first half of the OSU game. I think Musburger used the term “moxie” about 900 times.
Your last point is right on. If you are seeing very limited success in the Big Ten, the NFL is going to be a nightmare.

Musberger’s a fucking douche who’s not happy unless he’s selling you something. It’s unfortunate he picked McGloin as his product du jour, but what can you do.

If you're a Buckeye fan
Then you should also agree we don’t need any sparty jerks like Eric Gordon either
GO CUSE, BLUE, AND EAGLES!
I do not doubt his work ethic
But I will be wincing when that dude runs the 40 and does agility drills. He also had a habit of coughing up some inopportune fumbles.
I loved him as a Lion, but I just don’t see his strengths fitting in with what we do. But I’d love for him to prove me wrong….State needs to put out a productive pro RB
When was the last time a Penn State running back made it in the NFL?
Franco Harris?
RIP Jim Johnson, best ever.
RIP Sean McDermott's job.
How about......
Mike Archie
KiJana Carter
Curt Warner
Tony Hunt
Other than Warner and Johnson, they were all pretty much duds.
Warner was solid
Archie was destined to be a backup. Carter was just one of those guys who could never fully recover from a torn ACL
They’ve had some success at the FB spot with guys like Sam Gash
Ki jana carter got hurt pretty quick. Never had a real chance.
You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life.
I read "Curt Warner" and almost blasted you
lol…
I was thinking Kurt Warner.

I don't need to offend anyone...
but what has been the hit rate rate on PSU products the past few years? Overly successful? Underachievers? The same as any other college with a half n half mix?

Probably around 50-50, but probably less than 50-50 with the high picks
Poz is doing all right, after his arm healed, while Maybin (last I’d heard) was getting called out by his own O linemen (Eric Wood I remember specifically). I don’t know if Maybing was (a) ready for the pros, (b) good enough to be like the 15th pick, or © is really a good fit for a 3-4 OLB. He might be getting better, but definitely was not working out at this point in his career overall. Connor keeps getting injured. Navarro Bowman, Sean Lee and Deon Butler are looking good, while Derrick Williams will probably get cut. Obviously, Michael Haynes, Curt Enis, and Courtney Brown have left a trail of reputation devastation.
Other guys like Bryan Scott, Kareem McKenzie, Anthony Adams, Gilmore (TE), Michael Robinson, etc. manage to stay around and be productive. Kyle Brady lasted forever as a 6th OL that played TE. Bryant Johnson has no business being on anyone’s roster anymore. Josh Hull (if he’s still on STL) may be able to carve out a nice niche for himself.
I also forgot about Cameron Wake...who I always forget whent to State
He’s doing pretty freaking well for himself
Can’t believe I forgot that dude. He’s a first rounder coming into his own.
Also Engram (a damn good player) and God’s Gift (Quarless, who I hate)
Yeah PSU has their share of players in the NFL.
Some are making us proud, while others (like Maybin) just aren’t working out. Quarless, though i agree he is extremely arrogant, will have a solid career in GB.
I think we'll have some pretty good success with guys coming out in the next few years
Moye and Brett Brackett should find a 4th WR/STs nice on some team, although Brackett will probably be a TE. Wiz should be a contributor. Fortt, Hodges and Mauti could all make an impact
Also would really like to see Stephon Green and Chaz Powell make it somehow.
Jared Odrick
He was on IR most of the season for Miami, but one hell of an interior lineman. My personal opinion is that the only reason Maybin had that one good year was that he was lined up next to Odrick. Consider it the “Haynesworth effect”.

If we go for a RB I am partial to Delone Carter (who is also in the Shrine Game).
I’m biased for sure, but I can look at him objectively. I don’t believe he will be a star or even a starter in the NFL, but I do think he has a lot to offer a team like the Eagles. He isn’t a huge back, but he runs like it. Very strong and runs real hard. He can catch the ball out of the backfield (something important in this offense) and he rarely, rarely fumbles the ball (in fact, I don’t believe he ever fumbled in college). His speed isn’t great, but it’s good enough for him to be a reliable third down back.
Anyway, RB is the least of our concerns, so I’m not entirely sure why this is dominating the conversation right now.
From the few Syracuse games I watched
I actually liked Antwon Bailey better.
But I don’t think we should go RB. We need to use Jerome Harrison more.
GO CUSE, BLUE, AND EAGLES!
Well Bailey and Carter are very different backs.
Not sure you can really compare them, though Bailey probably does have the higher ceiling. He is still a junior though, so he won’t be in this draft anyway.
He can block, but it isn't his strong point.
We’ll see if he has a chance to block at all during the Shrine game. Can Royster block? I don’t really follow Penn State, so I don’t know what to make of him besides my Penn State friends thinking he is awesome.
I watched Carter and Royster today and was not impressed at all. Anyone know if Jerome Harrison is under contract or if he’s a free agent now?
I didn't see it.
I guess nobody really impressed then? Carter was the MVP and it looks like the East rolled over the West, but it seems a lot of that was defense. Was there much to glean from the game? I’ve heard the practices are usually what scouts pay more attention to anyway, but I could be wrong about that.
Keep looking at OL imo
So far it appears we’re concentrating on the o-line with 2 of the 4 being linemen. I know we postulate for half a year what we need, but it’s nice to see the organization come to the same conclusion.
Since I didn’t see a CB in the list (yet, although I would like another back up CB w/ promise), I’m crossing my fingers that the FO is sold on Nnamdi.
Royster stinks
This guy had such great work ethic and yet he ended up in JoePa’s dog house early in the year because he was out of shape.
Royster had a nice career at Penn St but he simply isn’t fast-enough or a good enough receiver to make it in the NFL.
Royster
Will run a 4.9 and have a shot on some team if and only if he is some special teams god. He’ll be lucky to get drafted.
