Cowboys Come Back To Beat Backup Birds
The Cowboys led a late comeback against a backup Eagles squad to get a win that in a lot of ways has to feel more like a loss. We expected the Eagles to rest some of their big stars, but Andy Reid decided to not to risk anyone and literally fielded two full backup squads. In fact, I believe Moise Fokou was the only defensive starter to play in this game and that's only because there were no other backup LBs left. In fact, there were two defensive starters in this game that weren't literally signed this week.
There really isn't anything to learn from this game because virtually no one that's going to play next week was invloved in this game. Chad Hall put forth a great effort today, which was fun to see. You have to wonder how badly Cowboys CB Mike Jenkins has regressed that Chad Hall beat him twice today? Kevin Kolb was pretty bad, but he was being crushed every other play by DeMarcus Ware...
The backup birds put up a fight today, they were no doubt aided by how poorly Stephen McGee played but overall I thought they outplayed the Cowboy starters for the majority of this game.
Enough of that one though, the important takeaway today is that the Eagles face the Green Bay Packers next Sunday at 4:30pm in Lincoln Financial Field in round one of the NFC playoffs. The Giants, Cowboys & Redskins will be looking to make their tee times.

Sunday at 4:30. LETS DO IT!

Way to go Cowboys!
your starters sqeaked out a win against our backups. That is momentum for next year. You really do suck.
Cowboys suck.
And
Just put yourself in worse tactical position for this upcomming draft.
Gotta say
Still a little disappointed we didn’t win.
I’m not that 1 win backed up the Cowboys 6 spots in this upcomming draft. That’s the diffrence between a Day one starter vs a guy who could start if needed.
Attention All Cowboy Trolls:
Prior to today’s game, virtually all Cowboy fans agreed that this game was irrelevant, and many said they didn’t care if they won. Therefore, you are not allowed to suddenly ‘care’ because your starters edged our backups.

I want them to come.
When you say “Kevin Kolb was the starting qb,” that instantly renders anything they have to say null and void. That’s like saying “Christopher Reeve post-horse accident was the starting qb” or “Lou Gehrig post-diagnosis and rapid onset of debilitating neuromuscular disease was the starting qb.” Where is the honor in winning a game like that?

That's a little harsh
Kolb was one of the best players out there, although he didn’t show it today. Literally the whole team was made up of back-ups.
That chad hall touchdown
Was all kolb. Great play by a quarterback who a lot of teams wished they had, and who would have been much better with starting talent around him.

All I can say is:
Kevin Kolb.

They are advocating the wise policy of starting Kevin Kolb vs. the Packers.
It really worked well the last time…

That’s where it came from. It’s asinine reporting.
The Phillies might trade for Brian Fuentes. He’s a reliever. I might run for president in 2026. I’m a history major. Etc., etc. Pay it no mind.

As a defensive minded fan, I’m actually really pleased with this game. For back-ups, we really showed that we have potential quality players on the team. I’m coming out from this game feeling more confident with our second string, and I think that it’s even possible to get a few starters from this lot. Lindley had some great plays, as did Coleman, Tapp – was that even a Teo sighting?
Regarding the game, it was a bunch of second stringers verses a Cowboys team that, except for Ware and sometimes Witten, didn’t want to play in the game. It was a nice change of pace, and a good way to get cracking on plans for next week against the Pack.

I wanna know what the Gov is smoking?
Talk about a homer……sez the Birds beat Green Bay, go to Chicago and beat the Bears, and host the NFC Championship against New Orleans abd beating them too. No I like optomism but this might just be unrealistic.
Didnt get to watch the game
Howd Lindley play? Hes one of the only players that played today that might be important next week.
Somewhat decent.

It’s hard to say. Stephen McGee is terrible, so that really helped the Eagles secondary.

He wasn’t bad though… we just didn’t hear from him much, which is a good sign for a corner.

I was a little surprised that it was Fokou and not Chaney that played today. I wonder if they’re thinking about putting Bradley at SAM and keeping Chaney at MIKE?
I think we would of held on if it wasn’t for that horrible punt by Rocca at the end. Oh well can’t really be upset.
I'm glad we lost
Just puts the Cowboys in a worse spot in this years draft.
Yo.....
We played today??!!!!! LOL! Should be a great game next week…It’s on like donkey kong!
Expect Greatness
Chad Hall anyone?
maybe we could use him like Brady 2 Woodhead on sum quick slants with all the blitzes we have 2 know are coming whoever we play

well that was awful!!!!
since i watched at my local southern calif. sports bar, at least i didn’t have to witness that piece of crap performance in the presence of any cowboy fans or other philly fans for that matter… it was almost as bad as last year’s raiders game except for the fact the first team players were resting… a few observations: Teo is worhtless… austin howard is pathetic… clay harbor is sad… where is riley cooper? I though he was going to be a good player…nick cole is very short on height and talent… wells stinks… tappp got faked out of his shoes by mcghee… chad hall seems ok but that’s about it… KK could have locked worse… i’m not sure how… the tv coverage was horrible… why did they keep showing jerry jones… do they think looking at death warmed over is a good thing? well, the flyers won… after spending good money (not much money) to seei them play the dux and look like a pick up team on new years eve, i’m happy they showed up today…

Um... what?
Teo had a huge sack and seemed to do fine for what seemed to be his first game he actually did anything in… Howard did suck, but then again he was an inexperienced player going against DeMarcus Ware, who IS pretty good (as much as I hate to admit it)… Clay Harbor had one bad drop and a solid game besides that. Who do you want, Alex Smith? Mike Schobel?… I was surprised by the lack of Cooper too… Cole and Wells=meh… Tapp got faked out once. Even the best players screw up once in a while, so this one time for Tapp is nothing to write him off about… Hall looked VERY good today, but I’m still worried about his height… KK was adequate. He did nothing to help his trade stock, but he kept the ball moving, and he only made one mistake that led directly to Dallas points (the fumble TD). All in all, it was a game you’d expect from 2nd stringers on offense. The Defense was just outstanding, though, for 55 minutes. Those last five killed them, but there’s potential. All in all, it was a bitter loss (always is when playing the Cowboys), but it was the best loss we could have… a meaningless one that gives us insight on our depth.
Was at the game. It was actually more fun than I’ve ever had in a loss (perhaps because the game was totally meaningless for us and Cowboys fans at the game thought it was their Super Bowl) and I was pleasantly surprised by a lot of players. I was very impressed by our defense, especially their ability to get pressure. Fact is Dallas only put up 7 points on offense against our backups, and if Keenan Clayton hangs onto that interception on the second to last drive by Dallas, we would have won easily.
Loved Chad Hall’s effort. I really wished there had been more opportunities to get Riley Cooper involved. Most effective decoy in the NFL. And to say that Jerome Harrison is an upgrade from Mike Bell would be a gross understatement. He beat the same blitz that the Vikings threw at us last week, and did so for a huge gain.
