Brandon Graham And Aaron Rodgers Engage In A Bit of Smack Talk...Sort Of

For those of you who follow Brandon Graham's Twitter account @BGraham54, you may have noticed his tweet from Monday afternoon:

its time to get ready for them Green Boys this week! I cant wait to whisper something in Aaron Rodgers ear.....SACK!!!!!!

When reporters told Rodgers of the rookie's taunt earlier today, Rogers was quick to respond:

Is he? I enjoy the banter back and forth. Always have. I enjoy going to a hostile environment. It just adds energy and electricity to the game. And Brandon's a really good player. He's going to be a really good player for a long time. I'm hopeful we'll be able to keep him off me and out of my ear.

As always, it's great to see the team fired up for the first week of the regular season. Graham seems to have a high level of confidence (and rightfully so) after stealing the starting defensive end position away from Juqua Parker during the preseason. Here's hoping that he converts that enthusiasm into defensive production, as the Eagles will need to bring everything they have against a Packers offense that finished third in the league in scoring last year (28.8 points per game). A few sacks and maybe a fumble recovery for a TD by Graham would be great. Please? I'm playing PHI defense in my fantasy league this week.

I don't like smack

From a rookie who hasn’t done anything in the NFL yet. But since he’s our guy, I’ll take a wait and see stance and hope he backs it up.

It's "Kolb"ering time!

That’s hardly smack talk

+1

KOLB is a natural born leader - something the Eagles haven't had on offense in a long long time. Prediction, we win a SB in the next 3 years.

I follow Brandon Graham on twitter

and when I saw that “tweet” I got super pumped up for the season and I actually laughed out loud. But, then I realized, oh, crap, he better not jinx us!

My quarterback hunts wild hogs and kills rattlesnakes in his free time...What does your quarterback do?

by IowaEagle on Sep 8, 2010 6:13 PM EDT reply actions

I like it

He’s just getting pumped about his own personal performance. He’s not calling out a specific player’s abilities (or lack thereof).

I’m excited to see what he’s made of in an actual NFL game. Just have to keep it a bit on the tempered side…he’s still a rookie.

Side Note: The dude is a beast in madden. I’ve got 15 sacks in week 8 playing on all-madden. That includes 2 teams being manned by my roommates in our fantasy franchise mode.

by PF_Flyers22 on Sep 8, 2010 6:19 PM EDT reply actions

Well if he's a beast in madden

then its a done deal…beast in madden=beast period

There’s only one rule of smack talk…back it up. I like the confidence. Now he’s gotta talk with his hands and feet.

I would add….“and don’t be a Douchelord”

Real life > fantasy

But I try not to own too many Eagles just in case the real ones lose, I have fantasy to fall back on.

I completely disagree

I load up on Eagles. Screw that “well, at least I won my Fantasy game.”

love the confidence

I think all rookie DE and OLB dreams of flattening a good qb in their first game. Its healthy, and me love some swagger. Besides being a bullshit madden stat, it does solidy and fire up a team.

I do expect 2 sacks, one from each end. Their tackles are slow, and inside its all inexperienced. This is a dangerous combination.

I think our defense will do well overall. I’m happy to have them earlier in the season tbh, before that line gels more.

2010-11 Predictions:

Kevin Kolb will go to the probowl and complete >65% of passes.

Jeremy Maclyn will have more receptions than Miles Austin & Steve Smith

Graham will have the starting LDE spot tied up by week 5, win ROTY, and have >10 Sacks

11-5 finish.

Graham’s college highlight tapes show him dominating Bulaga on a couple snaps, of course they are highlights but at least we know he’s capable

RODGERS, not Rogers...

Other than that… good read.

I took Akers

since we seem incapable of getting it in the endzone consistently. We seem to kick an awful lot of field goals though. Lets go Akersssss

Say what Rodgers?

Look Graham has shown some nice promise but as Winston Wolf would say “Well, let’s not start sucking each other’s d!cks quite yet”

by MG77 on Sep 8, 2010 7:53 PM EDT reply actions

Our team definitely is the youngest, with all these techies. All Twitter’d up, getting excited. I wouldn’t be surprised if Aaron Rodgers declines Brandon Graham’s friend request on Facebook after the game.

Didn’t Graham beat Bulaga a bunch of times at the Senior Bowl? Maybe he knows his moves/tendencies or maybe Graham is just better!

by ErickW on Sep 8, 2010 9:35 PM EDT reply actions

The Eagles certainly thought he was better when they picked him #13. Bulaga was still on the board and was on the board for quite a while after that.

Lets hope they were right!

by AZ Eagle on Sep 8, 2010 9:52 PM EDT up reply actions

Bulaga isn’t starting. He is warming the bench. Mark Tauscher will start. He’s a veteran RT and Brandon will find out that veteran tackles in the NFL are very smart and wiley. I don’t expect much from him at all this game. Maybe a hurrie or two. I just hope he holds the edge in the running game. He does that and i will be happy.

Mild smack talk at best.

More class than regular smack talk. Rodgers seemed to have a lot of class about it. Brandon a little less, but it wasn’t so bad. And it would be nice to see Graham get his first sack on Sunday. Will he be embarrased if he doesn’t now that he did the smackey-doodle thingie?

At least neither of them said, “Better get your popcorn.”

by IggleGreen on Sep 8, 2010 10:59 PM EDT reply actions

I thought they had moved Bulaga to guard?
