Eagles Bring Back Five For Practice Squad
The Eagles announced today that five players who had been cut by the team in the past two days were brought back to join the practice squad.
WR Chad Hall, RB Martell Mallett, DT Jeff Owens, G/C Dallas Reynolds and C A.Q. Shipley
NFL rules allow a team to have up to eight players on their practice squad, so the Eagles could add a few more guys that are unable to find jobs in the coming week or they could always hold some spots open for the season. Bringing back Jeff Owens means that 12 of the Eagles 13 draft picks this year will be with the team in one capacity or another. Owens will be on the practice squad & Ricky Sapp will spend the season on IR. Charles Scott, who was traded and later cut by Arizona, is the lone rookie to not be with the team this year.

PS Signings
Any player who’s been cut by another team and hasn’t played some number of seasons (3?) is fair game, right? Or are there some other rules about it?

you also are limited to PS eligibility depending on how many games you've started
I think it’s 9 or something like that. Sam at IgglesBlog had a good write up on the PS rules plus a list of Eagles that are eligible
Why not Ingram?

He's prolly looking to catch on with another team
If there is no offer, I’m sure we’ll bring him in.
Didnt we get Shipley from the Steelers or something to back up Jackson? Eh i guess that didnt work out too well

It was just a depth signing
He never had a legitimate shot with Cole and McGlynn around.

?
What is Dallas Reynolds doing on the practice squad?
I know this is nit-picking about the 58th spot on a 53 man roster but if the whole world, including Andy Reid, and staff, think that Reynolds is not as good as N.Cole or M. McGlynn (both with marginal starting credentials) then why is he hanging around? How many backup G/C do we need?
Couldn’t we use a true TE ,RB ,safety, or even QB to hang around and do next to nothing except possibly catch fire and become an NFL player?"
"What a gorgeous dog. What do you feed him?"
Demps
I’m also pissed at how they handled Demps. Granted, not a blue chip prospect, but he proved himself to be a valuable KR, capable of taking it the distance, and avg. 25+.
At safety I think they put too much on him. He could be a decent backup. He’s not quite ready to make the world forget Dawkins; which is the position they put him in.
To me Reid ET.,AL., took the cheap way out . Instead of giving Demps their best in terms of coaching support, they bailed. He could easily be seen as a bit of a douche, with the stupid penalties, but with enough effort, I think this staff could have turned him around.
It’s our loss.
