Packers Game Predictions...
Thought it may be time to look ahead. I'm thinking the pack win this game 31-16. The offense will continue to struggle and stall on 3rd down and in the red zone. Even though our defense is better, it cant help but get beat on by a very potent Packer offense. Does this mean the Eagles are in fro a garbage season ? No...it means that they wont play the pack every week and as the season goes on, the young guys will get better. I look for a 9-7 year.

That sound about right.
1TD to 3FGs, yup that’s our offense
My prediction: Eagles 174, Packers 2.399996

^^This guy guarantees it, and he’s good with numbers.^^

I think we lose this game
but I think we go 10-6 for the season.
We have a nice early schedule, and I could see us coming to the bye week at 6-1
"EFF YOU, WE'RE WINNING ANYWAY!!!!!!" (Bye, Dawk)
I agree
but there isn’t really anyone there that scares me.
We have the Lions, Jags, 9ers, Skins, Falcons, Titans.
Maybe I’m scared of traveling to San Fran?!?! I don’t know…I’ve learned we can win or lose any game, so making predictions isn’t easy.
The schedule after the bye is much harder…I have us losing 4 in a row at one point (Texans, Cowboys, Giants, Vikings) I hope that isn’t the case either, but those games scare me more
"EFF YOU, WE'RE WINNING ANYWAY!!!!!!" (Bye, Dawk)
I hate to agree with you. But I do.
I will never pick us to lose, but this is a tough game. But not impossible to win by any means. I like GB 28-17 over us. But if there was ever a week for an upset, week 1 is the week for it. We get them with a little preseason rust still on them.
In Kolb we trust
Good guess.
That score sounds very reasonable to me.
We’re not ready at this point and the Pack will blow us out. But we’ll get better as the season progresses.
Veritas Liberabit Te
i dont know about......
blowing us out but i do think theyre gonna beat us, and thats not saying were gonna be bad because as most of us know the Packers are prolly gonna contend for the Conference title if they stay healthy. That being said i dont think its totally out of the question that we can win, if we get sum big plays on defense and have Rodgers running around scared then i think we could possibly beat them. My score Pack- 27 Birds-20
A lot will depend on the pass rush.
I’ll feel better about our chances if we can make Rodgers uncomfortable.
If he has time, they’ll score a lot of points. If he doesn’t we have a chance.
Veritas Liberabit Te
I think its gonna be closer than that
and for the rest of the season we will have to hear ever more kolb-rodgers comparisons
Where one era ends, another begins
Wont the Packers
from what im hearing, be very weak at CB week 1? I think Kolb will do well.
That and the packers Oline is shaky. I think are crazy DE depth will do well against them.
Brandon Graham will destroy them. I say he gets at least 1.5 sacks on rodgers.

I’m looking forward to seeing the front four in action.
I’m hoping that the D-line puts some pressure on Rodgers early on and prevents him from getting into a groove. I don’t think that we’ll win but I as least want to see some pressure from the Graham and Cole early on, it may let up some interceptions for Asante and crew. I can’t wait to see Nate Allen start. I know that he’ll make some rookie mistakes but that is to be expected from any rookie. The linebackers will show improvements from last year especially with the return of Stew and the addition of Sims. I liked reading how well Sims did in preseason and how he was crushing everyone during camp. If all of that translates into the regular season play then I don’t think that we will be facing a blowout. But realistically I don’t see us winning this one unless Rodgers has a horrible day and we stuff their running game.
The Packers defense was one of the toughest in the league last season and they didn’t lose much during the offseason. I think that this game will give us a good idea how well Kolb handles under pressure against their pass rush. DJAX and Maclin will have to be on point. Shady will also show us if he’s our guy to carry the load for the entire season.
Either way, I don’t care. I’m just glad that football season starts soon and the Eagles are playing.

no doubt......
I too im just freakin happy that Sundays are back, that being said could we have drawn a tougher opponent week 1? At least playing a team as good as the Pack will give us a good gauge of where the team stands. I think theres no way we win a shoot-out against them , were gonna have 2 win by playing a slug it out type game and keeping Rodgers running for his life .
I agree completely
We’ll have to fight tooth and nail to get yards on the offense and our D needs to put the pressure Rodgers and force mistakes from him. I still see it to be a good game. The best part about this is that we are playing against a tough team early on and we have youth and fresh legs. If this was a late game I would be a little more worried. I CANT WAIT UNTIL KICK OFF!!!!

Their offense is better than ours
but I think our Def is better.
I don’t see us winning, but the chance of a victory isn’t so small that I’m not excited for the game
"EFF YOU, WE'RE WINNING ANYWAY!!!!!!" (Bye, Dawk)
I think we win...
our pass rush should be able to destroy there OL, and put pressure on Rodgers, Asante thrives in these situations, Hobbs isnt exactly a ballhawk but watching him at NE, he made some plays when the QB is pressured.. Allen can run with the fastest of them and Mikel is very good..
Not to mention our LB’s can cover, the only thing that scares me is that damn TE they got..
On our offense, our Line can get some protection, I think Nick Cole >>>>> Stacy, so we’ll be better there, we may have Jamaal back and our Weapons match up very well to their weak secondary…
I’d also give us the edge on ST’s if Desean and Hobbs are the ones returning..
I think we can pull this one out.

Jammal will be back.....
and starting week 1 as of now, and yeah man i agree their TE scares the hell outta me as well. I admire ur confidence but we are prolly playing wat is gonna be the #1 passing offense in the NFL this year. If not for nothing at least were gonna get a pretty good read where the defense stands.
I wish that they gave Jackson more time
My only concern with Jackson is that is coming off of major surgery and he is the anchor to our O-line. I would give him some more time to recuperate and put him in at a later date. I know that they said that he’s 100% recovered but that would be a crushing blow to lose such a good center. If that were to happen then we would lose a lot of moral and it could potentially be a career ender for Jackson. He didn’t participate much in the offseason or training camp. That’s my only concern for him. But it is a very valid concern.

Graham
I hope so. But I also am realistic about rookies. Some rookies look great in preseason, but when they show up for the regular season they look like totally different players. I’m expecting Graham to struggle against some of the better lines until he matures as a NFL DE. I loved seeing you tube clips of him in college and all of the great news during preseason about him. It’s not unrealistic for a DROY season. I’m thinking he’ll have a pretty good rookie season and have at or around 8 sacks. I don’t want to get my hopes too high for him and get disappointed though.

100% agree. Remember how Simmons complimented White? Now, I am not comparing Graham to Simmons, but the underlying idea is the same… if Graham can do what we all think he is capable of, when it comes to the opposing O linemen deciding which side to double-team, they will essentially have to pick their poison.

Or go into two TE sets, or have a TE and RB block each side.. But that takes 2 viable options
out of the passing game.. Which will leave about 2-3 options to throw two…
I’d take 2-3 WR’s or some combo of reciever(RB, FB etc) against our secondary and LB’s.

ANY GIVEN SUNDAY
The Eagles can win this game or any other game they play. This shits not an exact science. Whoever the ball bounces the best for could win any game. The Eagles can win against the Packers, but not if they do a bunch of dumb shit, which we all know they are capable of. Eagles or Iggles, that is the question. No team self destructs better.
I think the defense is good enough to hang around...
…but the offense is Not Ready for Prime Time. 24-12 GB.
30-13
Carved up by Rogers real bad!
Rogers: Over 300 yards and 3 TD’s
Kolb: 180 yards and no TD’s, 2 picks
Grant: 83 yards
McCoy: 34 yards
Jennings: 100+ yards and a TD
Djax: 48 yards

No way
our offense plays that bad. GB is without their top 2 DB’s for the game. Less than 200 yards offense? That’s ridiculous.
I have 214yards up there
but I think Vick will run for at least 10, Bell for 19-24 yards and Weaver for under 10. That would put us about 254 yards of total offense. Kolb is going to get clobbered.

I dunno
if it’s fair to call someone nuts for that; if you watched the preseason you saw Kolb get beat up by some lines a lot softer than the Pack.
I know they’re bringing back Jackson, but… I’m not super confident about the line, myself.
Nope.
I disagree - Packers are overestimated & Eagles are underestimated...
I think your assessment of our D is way off. Coles and Graham are going to be in Rodger’s face all day long. He’ll be throwing a lot of checkdowns and play actions to Grant and Finley. Finley is the biggest threat since TEs have always been our D’s Achilles heel. Since Rodgers won’t have time to get downfield often, our young secondary won’t be tested in the extreme, but I suspect they will be beat at least once for a big play.
Neither team is going to be able to run the ball effectively because both Ds are good at shutting down the run.
Kolb will be able to stay in the pocket due to our OL being intact (the preseason was not showing our true colors – offensively or defensively) and with Jackson back under center, will have time to get the ball away. The Packer’s secondary is suspect and is going to have a hard time covering DJax and Maclin with Celek &/or Shady down close, and in 3 WR sets, there just won’t be any way for the Packs to cover them all, and they are all dangerous big-play makers.
I look for both Kolb and Rodgers to throw a pick apiece with our D winning the sack total and at least one FF, possibly with a D TD.
Add in a possible Return TD and Aker’s leg, which should be good for at least 3 FGs, and you get a result of: Eagles – 30 / Packers – 24.
Eagles go on to a 10/6 or 11/5 season and the playoffs because this game is going to give Kolb and all the young players the confidence they need to jel as a team. I wouldn’t be surprised if they made the Bowl. Seriously. I have never been as hyped and as confident in the Eagles in my 40+ years as a fan as I am this year, and that said being a diehard supporter of McNabb since he was drafted. This team is going to be a champion, if not this year, next without a doubt.
I hope you can give me some of what you are smoking
Honestly, I like the thought of us holding up the lombardi trophy but I don’t think this is the year. If Kolb does well it will be a good suprise, but every year I get my hopes up, reality sinks in. Our QB is on year one of starting, Shady still isnt proven, the oline has has injured players returning and new additions to the line but nothing has been set in stone, our LB’s are in the same boat as well as our secondary.
If all of those pieces of the puzzle come into place then I’m all about it. Shit i’ll even meet you down at pats and buy you a cheesesteak to congratulate you on a awesome prediction! but I am still waiting till about the bye week before I make my prediction. Too many variables and new pieces to make a good realistic guess on how we’ll do. I am hopeful though! Go Eagles!!!

Packer fan here
The one thing I know is for you guys to have a chance you will have to score a ton of points. In my 47 years of being a Packer fan I’ve never been so excited about a offense. If Rogers has a weakness he works on it and it becomes a strength. Last year early in the season he held on to the ball to long, now I’d like to see the QB out their with a quicker release. Our offensive line now looks to be a strength with great depth.
Our defense I;m expecting great things but haven’t seen it yet. McCarthy held out large potions of our starting defense for every preseason game to rest someone or they had a minor ding. One game we didn’t have a starting linebacker play so it was tough to guage where they are as a defense if you can tell from preseason.
My prediction is if you score more than 35 you can beat us.
I would be excited if I was a Packer fan too. Their offense is going to shred alot of teams. Finely is going to be a beast this year at TE…especially when he lines up at WR.
Sure the D isn’t top notch but they aren’t that bad.
I just fail to see what areas the Eagles have the advantage that will win them the game.
I can honestly see a 300yd 3 TD game out of Rodgers. To expect the same out of Kolb, you are wearing blinders
The packers do have a good offense, but the eagles are supposed to have a good defense. Thrity-five is a lot of points to put up on a good defense, regardless of offensive fire power.
Like you said
…supposed to have a good defense. I think it is going to take a few games to see where the defense stands since there are alot of new faces.
Just going up against GB isn’t something you want in week 1 lol.
I just don't get all the negativity.
I’m not at ALL sure the Pack were a better than the Eagles last year, and, I think we’ve improved our team quite a bit since then (YES, even considering the Donovan move). I won’t claim to know every detail of the offseason the Packeres have had. I know they got a RT in the first round who BG looks like he can handle…… and I know they are down two quality players in their secondary. I just don’t get the doom and gloom. We have an 11-5 team from last year that’s likely improved going against another 11-5 team that seems like it’s at least slightly improved. This seems like a pretty even match to me.
By the way, too all the people saying we have a bad D or who are unconvinced about our D but claiming the Packers’ is good to great, did you WATCH their playoff game last year? If you guys think we couldn’t stop Dallas, you need to take a look at that game to see what “couldn’t stop” really means! Now I"m not saying this means their D is terrible, but, if we’re going to judge our D by a tiny sample size at the end of the year, lets at least discount theirs in the same way.
The teams seem pretty evenly matched to me, however due to the fact that I’m an Eagles fan, AND their lack of secondary at the time we’re playing them I’m going with the Eagles: 30-24.
I think we lose
But I won’t take the lose to heart. Personally, I think the Pack represent the NFC in the Superbowl this year. The offensive line for the Pack are not as bad as everyone makes it seem like, especially when ours hasn’t been much better if at all. Their without their Harris, but Collins can come down and play man if they needed him to. As I mentioned, I don’t expect too much from us this season. I think we take a step back this year in order to get some continuity and we become one of the forces of the NFC for years to come.
Packers. 28-13.
The TE
The TE always kills the eagles so I guess we’ll see what we can do with some new weapons with Sims and Allen hopefully they can cover Jamichael Finnley I think he will have a big game so anyone who has Finnley for fantasy I would def. start him… Hopefully they can shut him down and if we can do that successfully then I think the eagles have a good chance of staying in this game
Our LB corps is better this year though, maybe it’ll finally change.

Everyone
seems to be leaning “close Eagles win” or “Packers blowout.”
I’ll go off the board: GB 17 – PHI 41, Shady is MVP.
Nope.
I don't really get
How everyone says that their secondary is not that good this year. If anything, that’s what I fear most about their defense. Charles Woodson is coming off his best season as a pro and Nick Collins is one of the best safeties in the NFL. Atari Bigby maybe out, but from what I have been reading, even if he were to come back, Burnett easily took the starting job because of a great camp. The only possible problem back there I see is the second CB spot. If anything, their front is what I think will give us the least amount of problems.
The big problem with our secondary is our nickel and dime backs. (Though I don’t think they’ll end up being a huge problem.) Last season we were depleted with injuries in our secondary, and subsequently ended up with Jarrett Bush (who was 6th on the depth chart at Cb) as nickel and Josh Bell (who we picked up off the street during the regular season) as dime. As you might imagine both of those guys struggled, and our pass rush didn’t always help them out.
This season the secondary should be somewhat improved as Bush is back to being the 6th, maybe even 7th option at Cb and Bell is on IR. Your right about Burnett too. He’s looked pretty good this preseason and impressed in camp. He’s got great range and instincts. I’m sure he’ll make a rookie mistake here and there but I don’t necessarily think he’s a guy that teams will be able to pick on all game long.

I think if the Eagles put togeather a good offensive game plan, Green Bays defense is vulnerable. I think a spread formation would give Green Bay fits, and I would not doubt the Eagles use this formation in 40% of their offensive plays. Two tight end sets is also a vulnerablity for Green Bays D. Their outside backers aren’t the best in coverage, and this will have them guessing even more. If Andy and Marty put togeather a good game plan, we execute pretty well, the D gets a turnover or two, and we make a big special teams play, I see the score 28-24 Eagles.
Lots of variables however there is some weakness to exploit in the Packers D. Their play against the run is tough, but if we start the game using the spread, they will lossen up for the running game. I think our D will suprise this year. I just have a good feeling about our D no matter what. It depends on them staying healthy, not over-pursuing, playing within themselves, and we should be a really good defense, that gets better each and every game.
The reason the Eagles went heavy on D-backs this year is Jauron. He is a great D-back coach and we will see that as these guys gain experience. He is the reason we see great strides with guys like Patterson and Lindley, even Hobbs has benifited. FLY EAGLES FLY….BEAT GB!
As much as I think that GB
might actually win this game….
Its the first game of the season, injuries are limited (knock knock), and the team is pumped to start the first game with their new QB and all the new players. I see Sims and Stew out there killing it. Graham and Cole.. ridiculous. If our Oline holds up (which is my only concern at this point) Kolb could easily throw 2 TD with 2 FG by Akers, and I’ll throw out there a defensive TD or a ST’s TD.
Therefore, I’ll go with 27-24 Eagles.

31-24 Packers
Kolb: 277 yds, 2 TDs, 2 int
Rodgers: 332 yds, 2 TDs, 25 yds rushing
McCoy: 84 yds
Grant: 76 yds
Jackson: 105 yds, Maclin: 42 yds, Celek: 80 yds,
Gennings: 121 yds. Driver 76 yds, Finley: 60 yds
