Eagles Roster Cuts: Quintin Demps, Macho Harris, Cornelius Ingram among releases

The Eagles are nearly finished as the 6pm deadline approaches at which the Eagles roster must be at 53. The most recent cuts include.

Jordan Norwood, Cornelius Ingram, Dallas Reynolds, Fenuki Tupou, Eric Moncur, Jeff Owens, Tracy White, Macho Harris, & Quintin Demps.

The biggest surprise is that both Quintin Demps & Macho Harris were cut. That means at this point only three safeties are on the roster, two of which are rookies (Nate Allen & Kurt Coleman). You would think that will almost assuredly change by opening day. The Eagles will undoubtedly be combing the waiver wire looking for a veteran safety over the next few days.

The Eagles have two more cuts to make. Guys like Moise Fokou, Hank Baskett, Kelley Washington, King Dunlap, Jorrick Calvin & Jamar Chaney are all candidates.

[Note by JasonB, 09/04/10 6:18 PM EDT ] Adam Caplan is reporting that the final cut was WR Kelley Washington.

Macho is gone :)

But I’m surprised Demps was released.

With the amount of supporters he had

We should almost expect a name like that. I never got the love for him. It had to be the name, right?

The fire was pre-Tech

goes back to his Highland Springs days. I remember Beamer talking about them bonding over it because I guess that’s how Frank’s neck got like that.

MACHO and DEMPS?

Interesting.

As a second-year player, this is gonna sound silly since he started some last year, but he is practice squad eligible, isn’t he?

Surprised about

Ingram, Macho AND Demps (figured one of them would be cut.)

Anyway Ingram hits the practice squad?

He could land there it’s too bad he has potential but I like what I’ve seen from Clay Harbor so I’m not totally shocked they let Ingram go, but I’m glad to see Macho go, thought they would keep demps honestly.

Ingram to PS makes sense

because it also makes sense no other team will want to take a chance on his injured [self].

Yeah I think Baskett is gone, Washington is a good receiver and was great on special teams. Disappointed that Mallett didn’t get a spot but not surprised he showed some good running skills and ran pretty well.

I like it too ...

… and it’s constant competition, which is good for the roster.

I won’t miss Dunlap personally, but I would feel a little bad for Baskett. Personally, not that the Eagles would really be noticeably different with/without him.

I know Herremans can/would slide over, but there has to be something behind that, no?

Either way tho

Assuming Stacy is on the team next week (which is a big assumption I think), you think they would be fine with just sliding Stacy/Todd over and not having a true backup?

by Team Serbia on Sep 4, 2010 6:00 PM EDT up reply actions

Austin Howard is a possible option too.

by JimmyK on Sep 4, 2010 6:00 PM EDT up reply actions

If Howard's on the roster

I would assume that’s why.

Although I still think in a pinch, now with Wells on board, we’d slide Herremans or Andrews out and let Wells/Cole/MJG play guard.

I guess

but that’s a lot of mish-mashing. From what I’ve read/seen, Howard has been exclusively taking snaps at LT. If one or two go down, then we have players all over the place.

Nonetheless, I will not shed a tear if Dunlap is cut.

He’s either going to get a job elsewhere in the NFL with a team who will pick a position and stick him there, or be something of a cross between Dexter Wynn/Klecko/Baskett/Trotter … a guy who always seems to end up on the Eagles roster.

Kelley Washington gone, Hank kept. Bad Move

by Randy Marsh on Sep 4, 2010 6:17 PM EDT reply actions

Not a killer though…we’re talking about strictly a ST player. 5th WRs don’t win Super Bowls, one way or the other. Baskett has traditionally been a decent ST player. Washington looked better this year, but Baskett usually does a good job on ST. Should be OK, although I would have also preferred Washington.

by dweebowitz on Sep 4, 2010 6:20 PM EDT up reply actions

i agree I just think Kelley would of helped us more. They are both good special teamers. I just think Kelley was better and could of helped us as a 5th WR a few plays a game
