Eagles Acquire DE/OLB Antwan Barnes From Ravens
The Eagles made another trade today picking up 25-year-old DE/OLB Antwan Barnes from the Baltimore Ravens. Barnes was originally a fourth round pick of the Ravens back in 2007.
Barnes is 6-1, 251 pounds and according to his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, will play defensive end.
ESPN is reporting the Eagles gave up a 7th round pick for Barnes. For what it's worth, Ravens fans were high on Barnes and feel a 7th rounder was very little to give up.
After hearing about the trade, Barnes twittered
"Woooooooo........I had a good run in Baltimore......thank everyone for your support......its a new beginning and I'm ready to be a eagle..."
[Update by JasonB, 09/04/10 2:41 PM EDT ] Great find by All Things Philly Sports. Apparently Sav Rocca will be familiar with Antwann Barnes.

Does this mean Parker is gone?

Thinking if he moves to DE. If he stays at LB Fokou is probably gone.

But remember
that Fokou had been playing at both DE and LB. Barnes is an upgrade over Fokou in both of those spots. Barnes is a better joker, he is a better pass rusher, stronger against the run and he is a better special teams player. Barnes just stole Fokou’s roster spot.

Great Move
I am a Barnes fan, the guy is big at 6’1" and 250 pounds, he is fast for a guy his size, he can rush the passer and make plays in space. Barnes is mean, quick and relentless and quite frankly I’m amazed that the Ravens let him go. Also he is a hellacious special teams player.
Oh and maybe the best part of this move, Moise Fokou, good bye you penalty machine.

What A coincidence
I was just reading Asante Samuels twitter and he mentioned Barnes

Sooo
along with drafting a bunch of DE/LB tweeners, now they are trading for them?
Guess they figure the chance of finding a capable starter is higher when you have 4343234343 242 DE/LB guys on the team
bye chad
I was fun to listen to every one ride your nuts while you were here. Good luck finding another team though.

what a pussy commentator in that clip
On special teams you hit whoever, I loved that hit and it showed his intensity
Nah, you don't get props for lighting up the punter
Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed watching it and it’s every player on the field’s responsibility to keep his head on a swivel … but you ain’t no tough guy for doing that and if it’s preseason, it’s kind of unnecessary.

The hit was pussy
Putting your helmet in a guy’s chin when he’s not in the play and blindsiding him to boot. If I were Barnes, my head would be on a swivel in practice. Aussie’s never forget.
It's "Kolb"ering time!
Good acquisition
but I bet that he’s not taking Fokou’s job. I think Fokou gonna be starting midseason when people realize Jordan is not a Sam LB.
Man's best freind is not a dog....but an Eagle
it really doesn't matter who he is replacing the only two line backers we have that we know is better then this kid is Bradly and Simms... he can replace almost everybody else.... this kid is nice....
Don’t forget Maclyn.

Is it just me, or are there a lot more trades around the NFL this offseason than previous offseasons?
RIP Jim Johnson, best ever.
They're prolly
taking into account that next year we might not have football. Make moves this offseason, and get into the whole “win- now” mentality.
