The Day The Eagles Died

So let me get this straight: We just traded away a phenomenal 33-year old QB (and a kind human being) to make way for a potentially great young QB who we are now benching in favor of a sporadically good 30-year old QB (and sociopath). OK, got it.

We will remember this as a very dark time in Philadelphia Eagles history, folks. The time when, even after barely surviving a cancer called Terrell Owens, we injected ourselves with a subtler but deadlier disease called Michael Vick. The time when we wandered the world zombie-eyed waiting for Andy Reid's contract to expire. The time when our love of pro football was nearly murdered by the reality that pro football is just a business, and if you think Michael Vick is your best shot at winning the next game you start him regardless of the promises you made to other players and to your fans.

Well, I'm tired...time to hit the sack...maybe tonight I'll dream that it's the afternoon of December 26, 1960 and I am in the stands at Franklin Field...
