I’m amazed at how he’s been the voice of reason on Kolb

Ya me too. Good on him though…

KOLB is a natural born leader - something the Eagles haven't had on offense in a long long time. Prediction, we win a SB in the next 3 years.

Those floridians

they make me sad to live here (in florida)… Tebow? seriously? I laughed hysterically @ Denver w/ that pick in the first. I’d have laughed less had it been in the 5th.

A lot of florida is “2 hours away” from Orlando… I do finally get to see the Eagles play (Next Week vs Jacksonville), So I’m pretty excited. Got my tickets & found a group of Eagle fans tailgating.

Anyway, don’t care if they’re gay or not… the make Florida look bad for choosing Tebow, that’s just stupid.. So don’t get the wrong idea, not all of us love Tebow that much. He did good @ UF, and as a fan can’t complain… but like Danny W-awful, I don’t see a great pro career. At least not very soon.

Jason— Kolb has EARNED the starting job? Was it his horrible pre-season, or his 1 and 2 record as a starter that convinced you of this?

Now the coaching staff did not do him any favors, on one play against GB only sending two guys into the pattern— and on other plays, not giving him a dump-off guy for a screen when the Green Bay rush blew in or either a regular blitz or their very effective delayed blitz.

Just admit you like Kolb better than the reformed dog killer and you think two years from now he might actually be GOOD, and that’s why you’re pushing him. I don’t know how anyone can make the case that Vick isn’t the better QB now. He’s more experienced in big games if nothing else.

All that said, I do hope Kolb lights it up in his next outing. But the preseason and game one makes me wonder big time. If Kolb had shined in any of those games, even shown a spark, I wouldn’t have the doubts I do. I have too many so-called experts telling me “don’t believe what you see, listen to ME! Kolb is the GUY!” I choose to believe my own two eyes, thank you.

Kolb – 3 career starts; two 300 yards passing games.

Vick – 67 career starts; two 300 yards passing games.

Just saying.

RIP Jim Johnson, best ever.

moot point

they have different styles of play

Atlanta will win a championship....someday

by maxxj3 on Sep 17, 2010 11:43 AM EDT up reply actions

Vick is a scrambling QB, I know that. That doesn’t excuse him for being a crappy QB. McNabb had three 300 yards game last year in 14 starts; Vince Young (another QB I don’t think is all that good) has two 300 yards passing game in 40 career starts; Steve Young had seven 300 yards game when he was 37 years old; etc etc.

RIP Jim Johnson, best ever.

by Imp on Sep 17, 2010 11:59 AM EDT up reply actions

Another interesting stat:

Vick: 38 W-28 L-1T in 67 starts

Kolb 1W – 2L in 3 starts.

by ghostofandrewatters on Sep 18, 2010 3:35 PM EDT up reply actions

Really gonna go there?

Vicks first 5 starts 1W-4L (counts last game of 2001 & first 4 in 2002)
Vick played in other games in 2001, but was mostly behind Chris Chandler. Also Atlanta never had back to back winning seasons with Vick behind center.

I’m not saying Vick didn’t get better, but he had a chance to get over his bad start. While we won’t know how the Packers finish until February, 1 of Kolb’s losses was to the eventual Superbowl winner, the second was to a team many pick to go far. Also want to note, I’m not saying Vick is bad… he can over a lot to this team this year and has done so earlier… I personally credit him for getting us to the Super Bowl in ’04.

by Sparki on Sep 18, 2010 5:55 PM EDT up reply actions

That is what you call “small sample size”. Here, I’ll show you:

Peyton Manning: 0-3 first three starts; 1-6 first 7 starts.
Donovan McNabb: 1-2 first three starts; 2-4 first 6 starts.
Michael Vick: 0-3 in first three starts; 1-5 first 6 starts.

RIP Jim Johnson, best ever.

by Imp on Sep 19, 2010 12:48 PM EDT up reply actions

Kolb's the guy because

While you may be basing your decision on two halves of football and 6 quarters of preseason (where, btw, Vick performed worse than Kolb so don’t give me that ‘bad preseason’ crap), the Eagles brass is basing their decision on hundreds of practices and thousands of reps, where I (and anyone else who watched camp) would believe Kolb outperformed Vick.

I’m not rooting for Vick to fail; if he has a 158.3 rating next game and we blow out the Lions, I’ll be a happy guy. But when it comes to who I would rather have at QB, I’ll take Kolb for more reasons than just winning games.

That's great Bobby, but we don't have Dance Dance Revolution, so... you're dumb.

this

I would trust the eyes that see him play say 60+ hrs a week than 3.

Who cares who the QB is right now. The team is going to win vs Detroit and a good chance to beat Jac regardless who is under center. Enjoy the ride for these next two games.

I had a 16-game Phillies plan at the Vet w/my wife and a friend. I don’t really care about the Phillies, so my objective for each game was to help the beer man put his kids through college.

Whenever the Phanatic would walk by our section, I would yell at it to put some pants on. Thus, I guess I should approve of its Lady Gaga act.
