I am trying to get a gauge on how many of you use advanced football stats. The guys at football outsiders are doing great work, in my opinion. It is no doubt difficult to quantify individiual performances in football moreso than baseball but I think they have done an adequate job so far.

I mention this because we see Mike Vick as the #8 QB and Shady as the #3 RB in terms of DVOA from Week 1 (see here). If you want to see the glossary post, see here.

So how often do you reference these stats? Are they something you are interested in or are they not useful to you? Do you think the accurately represent what is happening on the field?

I am interested to hear some thoughts on this subject. I like to reference them but don't go to them first. It is different from baseball because there are not the 1 on 1 matchups but they still give some value to the game. What are your feelings on them?
