Total 53
*Player not on roster: At tight end, Tommy Lawlor stated several times before the '09 draft that the Eagles loved Chase Coffman and would have taken him in the 4th round, but he got snatched up by Cincinnati at the bottom of the 3rd. He has not fit in at all because they run a primarily run-first offense, leaving his skills as a receiver to bear no fruit as he rots on the bench. He is listed as "Other" on the current depth chart, below the 3rd team at TE.
*Player not on roster: With Sapp on IR, I find it inconceivable that the Eagles go into the season with only 5 legitimate DEs on the roster. While I ultimately believe that Abiamiri will come back and regain his roster spot, pushing Juqua over to RDE, there will be a fill-in along the way. The guy we just got has no pass rushing ability and is a 280+ lbs. DE, so I doubt he sticks. Look for a young pass rushing specialist to get a shot in the interim.
Possibilities, variations:
We may go heavy with 10 offensive lineman this year because of the uncertainty and plethora of injuries. Perhaps we sub in Fenuki Tupou for that 3rd TE or 5th S.
I find that 6 wideouts/2 TE is equally likely as having the 5WR/3TE setup. Sub in the new guy for Hank
Possibility of adding a FB, but very slim
I see no room for Jamaar Chaney, who simply hasn't stood out. I think he wouldn't get picked up if we left him on the practice squad.
Martell Mallet is a great practice squad guy.
I have a hard time seeing the coaching staff give up on Macho Harris. Just can't imagine him not keeping a spot.
You gotta feel for Cornelius Ingram. Guy's career was over his senior year at Florida.
