The Na Brown Award: Your 2010 Nominees
Okay, we are one week in to the preseason schedule . . . camp at Lehigh has broke . . . and I have your top 4 nominees here. Find out who the horses are, after the jump . . .
So as I see it, we have four favorites for this award. It is hard to say who is in the lead, especially with three preseason games left, but I will make my argument for each:
- Riley Cooper - He's big, fast, pretty, and seems to have a propensity for making plays. He is a favorite to unseat the Washington/Baskett number 4 receiver. Regardless, I would expect to see him on the field this season. I think the biggest thing going against Cooper in the Na Brown race is his fifth round draft status, and the fact that he actually looks to be above the hype in terms of the fact that he has REAL talent, size, speed, etc. Na Brown is more about hype . . . not skills so much. Vegas Odds for Na Brown: 7:1
- Chad Hall - Ah yes. The next Welker Stokely Edelmann Reno Mahe. This guy has heart. He has quickness. He is a fine American. He is a long-shot to make this roster. Not making the roster will make him ineligible for this award. He is practice squad at best unless he absolutely lights it up in the next three games. I think it will be telling who is returning the first-half kick offs in the upcoming games, if the coaches are seriously considering this guy, it will be Hall. Vegas Odds for Na Brown: 6:1
- Kurt Coleman - Very strong candidate. He has heart, he plays with passion, mini-Dawk, around-the-ball, vocal, brains . . . all of my favorite training camp cliches. Late seventh round draft choice. This guys has the tools to get the job done. The Na Brown Job. Vegas Odds for Na Brown: 3:1.
- Austin Howard - This is my favorite, I am calling it now. This guy is undrafted, he has a chance to unseat a Eagles fan's nightmare (King Dunlop), and he has been associated with the term 'pancake'. The guy is huge and is 'raw'. This reminds me of a guy that was here a short time ago . . . what was his name? King Something? Whatever, this guy could definitely be a dark horse in the race. Vegas Odds for Na Brown: 4:1.
Honorable Mention: Martel Mallett, Clay Harbor, Jeff Owens

My problem with Howard is that he hasn’t created any hype or buzz through most of camp. That’s a key part of winning the Na.

I’m not sure about Chad Hall because for one, it’s iffy if he’s going to make the team, and secondly, from what I’ve heard he hasn’t done that much in camp. He had a couple of good plays in the preseason game, but that’s about it.
Plus, I think your odds are way too high for Riley. 7:1? He’s gotta be closer to the mark than that, especially if you’ve got Howard and Coleman at 4:1 and 3:1
The only reason he wasn't higher in my mind . . .
5th round draft choice SHOULD give us a decent camp.
Showing ignorance here
When was Na Brown drafted? Was he even drafted? I forgot all about that dude until he was immortalized on this site
He was actually a 4th round draft choice . . .
But the one year in camp, he was our savior . . . hence the award.
Career stats
Receptions 34
Receiving yards 363
Touchdowns 2
Not so sure I’d have Chad Hall up there. He’s still very much a longshot just to make the team.
Formerly Bye, Dawk :(
coleman looked so solid, until the touchdown where he got burned. He looked awfully slow
thats why he’s a 7th rounder… im hoping he isnt as slow as he looked because it was seriously sean considine slow
