Buddy has a Super Bowl ring….

He may not have been a head coach, but his role on the ’85 bears was larger than that of most defensive coordinators.

Also, Ryan will be remembered a long time down the road for his innovations on defense. Tony Dungy, while a good person who I respect, will not be remembered the way Ryan wil.

Interesting

BGNs HERO Cornelius Ingram hasn’t done much in camp, actually he wasn;t given many reps in the pre season game either… Question is… will the comparison to the next Tony Gonazlez stop? Hoepfully.

It’s a shame but it doesn’t look like Tapp is making much an impact — that has to change in the regular season..HAS TOO

I called him “Tony Gonzalez Jr”, once, but that’s actually his real name. “Cornelius Ingram” is just a nickname bestowed by Tebow, which of course became is legal name in the state of Florida.

Same for Riley Cooper. His real name is actually “Joe Jones.”

ill advised dick riding

Haha, nice. Sounds like an excuse a married woman might give to her husband for cheating. For example, with Michael Vick killing dogs, the phrase “ill advised decision” was thrown out somewhere along the way. A married woman could say “I didn’t cheat, it was just ill-advised dick riding.”

Favre also admitts that he’s allergic to hay, horses and beef and has never ridden or owned a tractor in his life. Callamity ensues. Fall of mankind follows shortly thereafter.

I am shocked cowboys fans are surprised another player got injured… Welcome to the NFL, u were really REALLY fortunate last year; for goodness sake ur practice facility fell on top of the team & only 1 person was seriously injured & he made out better than doctors thought.

Jason

I’m shocked that you actually linked that article on Stampede Blue. Regardless of what Buddy said or how he said it, that article was bashing Buddy for poor taste while displaying heaps of it, not to mention the fact that Tony Dungy should have kept his mouth shut on the issue in the first place. Buddy is best known for punching Kevin Gilbride in the face? Really?

I also love how the author resorted to the very typical Superbowl winning arguement. Winning one Superbowl after spending years coaching Peyton, Harrison, Wayne and Clark makes him legendary? Oh no, it’s the Tampa 2 scheme? Please.

I mean.. seriously.. who the fuck appointed Tony Dungy the moral compass of the NFL and its’ fan base?

by Greg M on Aug 18, 2010 5:52 PM EDT reply actions   1 recs

Amen brother

Dungy is a guy who won a championship once, with quite possibly the best offense ever assembled. Hooray for Tony the greatest coach ever. Man that was hard to do. Where’s an assistant coach for me to punch.

Eagles Throwback Jerseys

Hey everyone random question. On the website it says the Eagles Throwback jerseys are Pre Sell. I was going to buy one for my girlfriend for her to wear on opening weekend (she loved the kelly green) but I was wondering if anyone knows when these are supposed to ship? I want to know if they’ll be here in time for the 11th or not.

He’s the Most overrated head coach I’ve ever seen, but he is probably the best defensive mind in the past 30 years.

‘Most overrated head coach’ – Nah but I never understood how even years later he gets the love around he that he does. He didn’t win a single playoff game here. He was also overrated as an evaluator of talent too.

by MG77 on Aug 19, 2010 1:13 AM EDT up reply actions

He wasn't a great head coach

in fact, I think ultimately he was a pretty lousy head coach, but he was always entertaining and never boring – and his teams played hard

You can’t say about some other Eagles coaches.

by ZacharyD on Aug 19, 2010 3:25 PM EDT up reply actions

Ryan is also remember so fondly because of what happened between he was a bright spot in a lull (between uninspiring and bad Eagles’ teams under Campbell for a few years in the early/mid 80s and what came to town after Buddy in the Kotite/Rhodes years).

People hate Kotite with a passion around here but I still say Rhodes was even a worse coach overall. His ‘loud, proud, dumb as rocks’ act wore real thin and the players started to phase him out even by the later part of his 2nd yr in town.

by MG77 on Aug 19, 2010 1:19 AM EDT up reply actions

I think he’s also remembered so fondly because he didn’t genuflect to the Cowboys and started all that crap with them.

by doubleh on Aug 19, 2010 1:07 PM EDT up reply actions

I'll never forgive Rhodes

for totally quitting on the Eagles in the hopes of getting fired so he could become the Packers coach. Really, what sort of NFL coach quits on a team and encourages his own firing? A horrible coach who belongs on the list of worst Eagles coach ever.

by ZacharyD on Aug 19, 2010 3:27 PM EDT up reply actions

Good question.

From what I remember, the ’85 Bears were a slightly above average defense. As were the Gang Green Defenses.

You're right again.

Jim McMahon was a great quarterback. And Willie Gault and Emery Moorehead were a receiving corps to be feared. Buddy Ryan rode the coattails of Ed Hughes’ fearsome offense.

Right so unlike every head coach ever Buddy will not be held in any way accountable for the offense and only for the defense. Makes sense.

Formerly... "You don't have to be sweet, to be good"

you mean like the cowboy's coach

who has absolutely no say in their offense. Do you really think Marvin Lewis or Rex spends two seconds on offense game plan? It’s incredibly common for a head coach to specilize on one part of the game and give his coordinator free reign. Sarcasm only works if you have a clue about what your talking about.
