Question?
I know Martell Mallett really doesn't have much of a shot to make the team, but why, if he is legitimately competing for a spot, would he be wearing the same number as Nate Allen, even in pre-season games?

Don’t know, and I wondered the same thing. They could have easily given him something in the 40’s. I remember one year, the Eagles had 2 defensive players wearing the same number against the Ravens. Brian Billick (Ravens’ HC at the time) bitched about it, and the officials made the one of the players leave the field. On a side note, what a blowhard Billick is.

Greg Isdaner and Juqua Parker have the same number, Dallas Reynolds and Boo Robinson, Eric Moncur and AQ Shipley.
I don’t see it as being an issue when they play on opposite sides of the ball. Obviously if they both make the team one will have to switch and it will more than likely be the less high profile of the two.

Gotcha, i looked at the depth chart for other number similarities, but i must have missed alll of those, nate allen is a lock to make the roster, so mallett should know he isn’t gettin that number, same with parker and nick cole. They prob just had the extra jerseys and were like “were not makin new ones just for you, pick a damn number we already have”.

Nate Allen
Speaking of Nate Allen, not much has been said about his performance in the first preseason game. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? I did not get to watch the game.
I was told
he only played 6 plays with the starters. And as a unit they forced two 3 and outs.
Take the name off the back of the jersey's and reinvent football as a team sport.

He did nothing but in a good way.
He himself said all he did was run around and jump on a pile one time. We’ll see more of him Friday, Cincy’s a lot better than Jacksonville.
