What to look for in preseason game 1

Most people don't watch there teams pre season games for longer then the first quarter. That's whats makes the true fans true fans. There is alot of things to look for in this opeining pre season game. Here's the roundup

Runningback battle- Okay it's a battle for the third RB spot, but it's really up for grabs. LeSean McCoy and Mike Bell are locks to make this team and appears certrain that the Eagles will only keep 3 RB's and one Fullback, thee Fullback-Leonard Weaver. With Mike Bell and J. J. Arrington out for tomorrow's game and LeSean McCoy maybe playing 1 quarter the opportunity is there for Eldra Buckley and Charles Scott to impress the coaches. Buckley right now is the favortie to make this team as he has experience being on the roster last year, special teams ability and he can actually catch a pass. Charles Scott has a shot to make this team if he can be a force in short yardage situations but he really has to impress in these games because he hasn't in training camp.

Center- Jamal Jackson most likely won't be ready for week 1 and maybe several weeks after that. Nick Cole is already hurt and his shotgun snaps look awful. So with Mike McGlynn the only center with a realistic shot to make this team that's will play tomorrow his time to shine is now. If he can make it through the entire game(however long he plays) without snaping the ball to Kolb's feet or over his head or just fumbling the snap altogether his stock will go up dramatically.

Cornelius Ingram- Alot of promise for this kid both going into his senior season at Florida and last season with the Eagles. Both seasons ended with ACL injuries. He hasn't really impressed in training camp so far but he has been held back by the coaches a little bit though. Ingram will probably get at least 1 1/2 quarters to try and impress. He probably doesnt need a great pre season to make the team but to be a viable part of the offense he needs to prove himslef worthy during pre season.

The Rookies- Both Brandon Graham and Nate Allen both have realistic shots of being starter come week 1. It will be interesting to see both how Nate Allen plays with the starters and if Brandon Graham can prove to be better then Juqua Parker at LDE. Both have been impressive in training camp and will be key for the Eagles defense this season.

Chad Hall- Starting to become a long shot to make this team but will get his opportunity to impress tomorrow. Andy Reid has already said that Chad Hall will be returning punts tomorrow but will most likely get his opportunities as a wideout and possibly in some formations as a running back as well. If his speed can be a real asset to this team no matter what his position, he will have to be considered to make this team.

Sav or Ken- Sav Rocca was inconsistent last year as the Eagles punter which promted Andy Reid to sign both Durant Brooks(already been cut) and Ken Parrish to create some competition at the postiion. Sav Rocca has looked alot better in training camp and is the favorite to make this team but nothing is guaranteed especially having not played in pre season. No word yet on if/how Parrish and Sav will be split up tomorrow.

This camp is Ingram's swan song.

There’s no way he doesn’t get cut. I also want to see what Reid sees in Terrence Trent D’Arby. I really think he could be the next Reid 3rd rounder to get cut in camp.

Really.

How about if Ingram goes off in all 4 preseason games and Harbor sucks ass?

Will Ingram still definitely get cut?

You have a decent football mind, EB, but the hyperbole and overstatement is moving you closer and closer to a jibta-like frame of mind. That’s a bad thing.

I think you let your mention in the Inky go to your head, brother.

WTF?

They’re not going to cut Ingram.

And who were the first Reid 3rd rounders to get cut in camp? I’m sure he’s cut prior 3rd rounders after a season or two, but it’s not like he’s got a habit of cutting them in their first season.

I like Buckley, but a lot of effort and decent special teams play wouldn’t outweigh the fact that he’s reached his ceiling. If we cut him, it’s entirely possible he’d have a hard time getting picked up by someone else. Scott may have hard time now, but his upside is much higher than Buckley’s

Fifth Round

And yea they’ll cut him if Harbor looks better. Or try to trade him for a 2012 7th rounder.

No way. They’ll give him a year.

Channel?

Is it a nationally viewable game or just local?

local

Take the name off the back of the jersey's and reinvent football as a team sport.

Pay these guys 3,000,000 a year tops and match them dollar for dollar in a global indexed pension. Eliminate the irresponsibility by being responsible for making young kids over night millionaires.
