Eagles don't currently appear to have any interest in Kevin Mawae
The Eagles' starting center position this season is unsettled, to say the least. Jamaal Jackson remains unlikely to be ready for Week 1, and could miss a significant chunk of the season. Backup Nick Cole has looked extremely shaky snapping the ball in shotgun situations in camp, recently tweaked his knee, and will miss the Eagles' first preseason game against Jacksonville. That leaves third-string center Mike McGlynn, who is still a bit of an unknown as he enters his 3rd season with the Eagles.
Unrestricted free agent Kevin Mawae has come up more than once here at Bleeding Green Nation, and for good reason. He's a 3-time All-Pro and an 8-time Pro Bowler, which includes trips to the Pro Bowl in each of the past two years. However, although Pro Bowls are nice, players with reputations like the one Mawae has built up over his stellar career often get voted in despite mediocre play on the field, particularly players that play along the OL (where there aren't reliable statistics that can indicate player performance).
Tommy Lawlor of IgglesBlog and SB Nation Philly recently noted his findings of Mawae's game tape, and he was less than impressed...
I watched tape of him a few months back and he's done. I'd take Nick or Mike McGlynn over Mawae. Teams aren't ignoring him because of NFLPA stuff. Age just finally caught up with Kevin. The man had a great career, but his game tape from 2009 wasn't good.
I emailed the agent for Kevin Mawae, Mark Bartelstein, to see if there was any interest from the Eagles. His reply - "Nothing happening with Kevin and the Eagles at this time."

Thank god. This is a young team that I’d like to see grow-up together. I want the young guys to get the reps and the experiance. Plus I don’t want a locker room lawyer on the team.
I'm not drunk I'm just drinking.
+ 100!!!!!!!!!!
Take the name off the back of the jersey's and reinvent football as a team sport.
Pay these guys 3,000,000 a year tops and match them dollar for dollar in a global indexed pension. Eliminate the irresponsibility by being responsible for making young kids over night millionaires.

This and Lawlor’s comments might have a ring of truth, but there is another side to the argument. While Mawae might have garnered his share of recognition-votes for the probowl over the years, as an 8-time selectee, he certainly must have exhibited some recognizable talent at his position at some point.
Also, I can guarantee Mawae is not practicing shotgun snaps to his wife at this point. He may lack the athleticism that some of our current younger center prospects enjoy, but his experience at the position has to be considered. Last thing we need is a high snap at a crucial part of the game by some guy who just learned to shotgun snap 6 months ago, not to mention the knowledge regarding blocking schemes/adjustments Mawae must have acquired over his long career.
In no way am I suggesting we sign Mawae, but it is by no means a one-sided decision; there are certainly points that can be argued in his favor.
How did Mike McGlynn look when snapping out of the shotgun situations at training camp? I tried to look on Monday, but I couldn’t see shit from that damn grass hill behind the bleachers. If only I had a press pass without the actual press responsibilities, *cough*hook me up JasonB*cough*.
DAT ASS!!
I'm pretty sure he was doing fine
Considering he’s been our backup center the last 2-3 years. (Well at least in training camp)

Were there any good centers in the draft besides Pouncey, though? Just because you draft or sign a guy doesn’t mean the position is taken care of unless he’s good enough to be a starter.
Chris Hall, Former University of Texas center
The guy was considered the best senior center prospect, but he decided not to pursue an NFL but to study the bible instead. I don’t know if there is any possibility in getting him to sign with us but it sure would be nice.

the broncos............
took 2 centers in the draft, we def coulda used one of our gazillion picks on JD Walton . The broncos got him in the 3rd round. He looks like a keeper.

i'll take the 5 playerst
That we got for our #3 pick (2nd round) than just a center. We have centers on our roster. We’ll be fine.
Remember, we have 4 centers right now, all of which do have experience. Some just needs to shake the rust off. That’s why we have preseason games
2010-11 Predictions:
Kevin Kolb will go to the probowl and complete >65% of passes.
Jeremy Maclyn will have more receptions than Miles Austin & Steve Smith
Graham will have the starting LDE spot tied up by week 5, win ROTY, and have >10 Sacks
11-5 finish.

Where did you get his agents email address? Not that I want to contact him or anything, it just doesnt seem like the kind of information he would just give out.

I heard the Eagles did the same thing. They looked over the tape, and he stunk. So they will be better off with what they have.
In Kolb we trust
I mean...........
his stinking cant be half as bad as Nick Cole snapping and the unknown of Mcglynn, Ill take a washed up Mawae over Mcglynn and Cole any day of the week.

Well i got the solution 2 our problem and the Jets problem...........
Since we are currently a lil short on capable centers and being the Jets are currently having problems getting their All-World Corner into camp why dont the 2 teams do a straight up swap……..Hank Baskett for Nick Mangold LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This way the Jets can give Revis his money and not have 2 worry about signing Mangold.
