Fantasy Football: Good or bad?

I am not sure if this topic has been discussed or not, but, since Fantasy football leagues are forming and the start of the season just around the corner, I thought this would be an interesting discussion. Does Fantasy Football hurt or help the NFL? Does it take away from the fan who watches the game for their team to win and does not care about individual stats? Or does it bring new fans in that only care if they have a player on their team playing in the game and only cares what he does?

My thoughts after the jump...

Before I ever played my first Fantasy Football game, I would only watch Eagle games (and the occasional division game). I would get so bored when watching other games, because they would not matter to me or to my Eagles. When Fantasy Football came into play, I started watching those meaningless games because I needed to see how the players on my teams would be doing. But as I was watching those games, I realized these were pretty entertaining. So Fantasy Football helped me realize I could watch a game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Oakland Raiders.

Let the discussion begin...
